Suggestions: 1) Put a balloon-like material inside the ball that does not deflate and that prevents entry of dust and solid particles. 2) Or design the holes that allow one-way going outside while maintaining bounce. 3) Accessory vacuum cleaner equipment that cleans up the insides of the ball. 4) Give out free prototypes to teams of small communities and basketball enthusiasts and collect the reactions of players as bases for improvement

Becasue of the holes it will fly differently, and have different air resistance then traditionall ball. But it might not necesserly be a bad thing, ping pong balls also were changed in their design(material) some time ago, and everyone already get used to the new balls.

What type of materials on ping pong balls before and now? Anyway, I used plastic practice golf balls that has holes all over, the flight angles is definitely lower of course the distance is shorter too compare it to the similar practice balls without any hole on it. I wondered if this airless basketball has same performance as the practice golf ball.

@@rafap1719 could you tell the difference between plastic and celluloid? I have Nittaku and the Chinese brand DHS 3*** I’m not at the level to tell the difference.

@@EverythingBasketballs Im an NZ rep for table tennis so high level but not really, anyway basically when they changed to plastic the size was slightly increased i believe as well so it was intended for the ball to slow and therefore rallies would be longer which would increases the marketability of the sport and also allowed cameras to track the ball at higher quality (ITTF always had dogshit video quality with celluloid balls). Unfortunately although the speed of the ball slowed, rallies became even shorter and table tennis became much more boring to watch because since the ball was slower it was harder to hit it from a far distance away from the table because it took to much effort to hit it with the same speed as celluloid balls. And rallies were shorter because everyone was still using old logic and techniques so a lot of unforced errors occured. Because of this it took about 4 years for players to adjust and now table tennis is on average played closer to the table with more punchy strokes which make the ball travel quicker to make up for the general speed loss with the old looping strokes. So less exciting to watch in terms of distance play, but the speed and length of rallies has increased somewhat. But yes changing the material does have a large impact on ball sports HOWEVER table tennis is a much more precise sport and 100X more emphasis on the rotation of the ball too so I don't think a material change would have nearly the same effect on basketball.

I’d love to see what more players think! I’d like to see other sports experiment with alternative materials that are more sustainable

I think we will see Wilson experimenting with varieties of materials that suit to type of courts. Hopefully we get one soon.

I'm not an expert whatsoever, but this will definitely have an extreme impact on the way it flies (flight dynamics) when thrown going to the hoop because of its hollow nature which air can easily pass through the ball... Stephen Curry will go back to the drawing board trying to tune his shooting skills. I hope the engineers and designers of this airless basketball placed that into consideration.

Nice review, the downside of playing outdoors, is dust and water-resistant, and holes are going to be a big problem when comes to durabilities.
@EverythingBasketballs Жыл бұрын
I would think the opposite when it comes to durability. Because the materials seems to be thicker than the traditional basketball so it would take a beating better and could last longer. Like I mentioned on the video it’s depend the material type will determine how durable this ball is going to be.

There is not much you can do. It’s most likely a defect ball. I recommend contact Wilson and maybe they can replace a new one for you. Wear and tear is user error but defect is a manufactured error.
