Finally bit the bullet and bought this and all I can think is why didn't I buy it earlier!! It plays like the Babolat pure drive but with so much more control for me, slightly less power and very arm friendly. The pure drive I always had to rein my self in. Same shot dynamics and actually lower string tension and I just hit the lines off both sides. Added a leather grip and added weight at 3, 9, 12 Strung with Diadem Solstice Power 17 at 50lbs
@jimbo921075 жыл бұрын
You can hit flat shots with this kind of power/spin racket by simply installing "control" strings that are less elastic than average, then dialing down the tension to about 50 lbs. This allows you to hit controllable flat shots with good power, while also letting you whip angle shots with spin when needed.

I demo’d this racket plus the Wilson Blade 98 and Babolat Pure Strike 98 and I had a blast with the Clash. Out of the three it’s a toss up between the Pure Strike and the Clash for what to buy to put in my bag. Obviously those two for different reasons since they hit differently and have different pros and cons, but the big thing about the Clash is I don’t know how to explain it other than it was just super fun to play with!

Which one had more power: Pure strike or Clash? Thanks
@Tennisnerd5 жыл бұрын
@@Nahhmah Tough one. The Pure Strike offers better directional control, while the Clash gives you more spin and a plusher feel. I think you do get a bit more pop on the ball with the Strike, but easier depth with the Clash. The Clash is just an easy and comfortable racquet to use and that is why I like it. The Pure Strike is nice too, but requires a bit more from the user and my issue with it was that it bothered my wrist after a while.

Good racket. I use is since it was released (two months now). When with my former Babolat Pure Drive, strings would break after 8-10 hours of play, they made it 20 hours with the Clash Tour and then I replaced the string although it did not break. In the end, a cheap cost of ownership.

Been playing with this racquet for over 2 months now, I gotta say I really love it. I bought it like 3 days after it came on the market. It is really easy on the wrist and arm and really rewarding if you go big. It also very forgiving because of the large sweet spot. If you do hit the ball dead centre it gives a feeling that no racquet on the market can give atm. I come from a Wilson Pro Staff 97, and never touched that racquet again since I bought the Clash Tour. And as Tennisnerd said, you need to play with a lot of spin. A friend of mine also bought it but really struggled because he hits way flatter than me.

Thanks for the review! Awesome as usual! Is this one easier to play than a Ezone 98(305g)? Could you please compare the racket to the Ezone 98?
@a2casius5 жыл бұрын
From my own experience, with every iteration of the Ezone line, Yonex has sought to "stiffen the hoop" to create a more "point and shoot" experience at the cost of comfort. Even though the Quake shut gel in the handle takes some of the vibrations out, the stiffer hoop gives a harsher feel (see TW review). Wilson Clash goes the exact opposite direction and argues that a flexible hoop provides the much needed comfort and stiffening up the throat section provides much of the control and stability needed to point and shoot. Same aim, but putting comfort first.

Jonas, doesn't the weird, asymmetric string pattern on the Clash 100/Tour (densest pattern in upper hoop, less dense in the middle, MUCH more open in the lower hoop) make the launch angle inconsistent? I wonder what Wilson had in mind?... I think you have to hit the same spot on the face very consistently to get a reasonably consistent response from this racquet.

Finally got round to testing this racquet. Not sure what to make of it. The feel is definitely different - stiffens up with harder shots, softens with soft ones. Very open 16x19 pattern, not necessarily the most control orientated in terms of precision but it does produce easy spin / depth if you hit it right. A bit similar to a Head Speed MP but softer feeling. I think I'm going to wait for the 98 - hopefully that will have a slightly denser 16x19 pattern which is my preference.

I was using a Pro Staff 97 but hit too many balls into the tape. The launch angle just demanded more leg work then my lazy body was willing to give shot after shot. Switched to the Pure Strike. Way more power, so much so that I can't go back to the pro staff. Solved the launch angle problem but i struggle with mid court balls (too much power) and elbow issues that I've never experience before. Question on the clash tour. The biggest complaint I found was difficulty to volley. Tennisnerd, in the video you seemed to volley just fine and you recommend the racket as a doubles stick (for its low swing weight, i think). Did you notice any issues with volleying? Did you hit touch volleys as well as firm put away volleys? Thanks for the review! Also, what would you say your average net clearance is? Seems pretty high.

I liked it from everywhere on the court, but I did struggle to dial in touch volleys. I am sure it is a matter of time spent on court, but the muted feel takes longer time to get used to. The net clearance, in general, is definitely high. It is very easy to achieve depth with it.

I have a prince tour 100t ESP bought a clash 108 but I find it very head heavy even though it's lighter than my Prince , I really dont like it no feel off of it compared to my Prince , should I just keep playing with it or go back to Prince I was thinking of buying the Textreme instead ..

How does this racket compare to the Head speed pro 360?
@Tennisnerd5 жыл бұрын
The Speed Pro 360 has a lower launch angle, is crisper, more controlled, but requires more from the user. I loved the 360 Pro, but my wrist did not like it as much with a full poly. The Clash is more comfortable and spin-friendly.
@LarzB5 жыл бұрын
@@Tennisnerd i have the speed pro 360 and i love it. But only with a full poly with much lower tension. I have solinco tour bite at 21 kg. I tried tour bite partially because of your videos and some other reviews. That poly is more rigid than other poly's, so i had to drop the tension with 3 kg to prevent it to be too harsh. At 21kg the speed pro is crisp, but also nice feel. Not like you're playing with a wooden board. Poly strings differ very much in how rigid or soft they feel. I used polyfibre venom rough at 24kg which was good for that string while the tour bite i had to drop 3kg for a similar feel. I do think the clash tour is a very interesting racket. It might give me too much power and i don't like a too high launch angle. I'm going to demo it some day. Just to try it out.
@jlan67235 жыл бұрын
@@LarzB My Clash is regular. I may say Clash can save my game easier in defence especially on my backhand side. 360 Speed Pro have good spin as a 18*20, but less spin than Clash. Depth is easier with Clash due to launch angle.
@LarzB5 жыл бұрын
@@jlan6723 sounds good.. but enough debt is never my issue, neither on my one handed backhand. I also have a speed mp 360 with 16x19 string pattern and it's launch angle is noticable higher than the pro. Even in defense it takes little effort for me to hit deep into the court. That's why i am hesitant to the wilson clash, babolat earo pro, pure drive, head extreme. I think I'll have problems keeping the ball in the court. The flex of the Clash, that's why it is such an interesting frame

I don't know if I should go for the tour because it's easier to swing fast. Or if I should go for the tour because I should have the power for it. Any tips ? Cheers

Hey, Im a semi beginner player. Im not hitting proper topspin from the baseline yet. Im looking to buy a new racquet that I can improve my tennis with and use for a long time. Im playing some doubles and would like a racquet that is good for volleys. Im intrested in the Clash but thinking it might be to expensive for me, i dont even know my playstyle yet. Im pretty strong so i want a 300g+ racquet. What do you guys suggest for me?? Thanks alot for any response.

I am thinking of getting a demo of the Clash 100, but have heard that it only plays well with polyester strings. Would this racquet play poorly with multifiliament ( I play with Technifibe Biphase 17 gauge as I have had elbow problems in the past with polyester.

How would you compare the Babolat pure strike 16/19 to the the Wilson Clash?? In terms of its playability and general differences. Thanks in advance.
@Tennisnerd5 жыл бұрын
They are quite different racquets. The Pure Strike is stiffer and offers better directional control. Power is similar, the Clash gives a bit more spin and a higher launch angle. I like both racquets, but ended up feeling some wrist pain after playing with the Pure Strike regularly so that is why I prefer the Clash.

45lbs - this tech is great for lower tensions - better ball pocketing and comfort IMO. I tried higher and it's way too stiff. The frame stiffens when you swing fast and flexes on slices, volleys, etc. That's why they call it the Clash - it is stiff AND flexible, which was unheard of in the past.

I'm stuck between the Clash 100 and 108, any recommendations out there? I am a beginner that's athletic and learns very quickly. I plan on training a lot using the wall and spending time serving for hours in order to get better. Price is not an issue: I feel like I should get the 108 while I'm still a Beginner, let it carry me up to my mid-level intermediate days, and reevaluate my skill and style and drop big money on another racket. All opinions and constructive criticism are appreciated!

Go with the 100... Said another 40+ male beginner. I have played some squash. Badminton and a bit of table tennis before and the hand/eye coordination from that is easily transferrable. In all of these sports both Ball and racquet/bat are way smaller. Hitting the sweet spot on a tennis racquet is not Big Deal. Go for the 100 and not the 108

Got a question for you perhaps you know the answer. I bought 2 wilson clash tour rackets one of them I got the following problem with After playing 2,5 month with this racket it didn’t feel right. Cut the string out and they stayed in place no tension. Put new strings in it and after playing 5 times with this racket the tension in the strings was down 5kg. Do you know what is going on?
@Tennisnerd5 жыл бұрын
Jan-Berend Stoker I don’t know really to be honest, seems like there might be something with the grommets. These racquets eat strings fast but if you experience the issue only with one of your racquets it is a bit strange...maybe change the grommets and see what happens?

Did I get you correctly, you are not recommended for advanced/professional players? Though you swung very hard, the ball looks travel very slow.

Yes, it can be used by advanced players too. It is just a matter of taste. It is plush and more low-powered than a Pure Drive for example so you do get a bit more control. Most pros prefer a bit more feedback from their racquets though.

How would this racket go up against Yonex VCore pro 97 310 grams? I play doubles and more serve and volly?
@Tennisnerd5 жыл бұрын
The VCORE will give you more control, but I think that one plays better with some lead tape. For doubles, this one will give you easy depth and point and shoot ability. The spin can easily get the ball to dive down to your opponent's feet. But ultimately, like with all things around tennis racquets, it is a matter of taste.
