I can't tell you how many times I watched your vids before I finally purchased my WOGB. I immediately went to my basement (carpeted work out area) and started pound dribbles. LOL! Got it on the court today and that swiiiisssssshh yeezus. But, for it to feel and play perfect, gotta be warmed up, and sweaty. Or while stretching vigorously rub the ball to "warm" it up and to capture your natural body sweat and oil. 1 of the guys in this run asked to dribble it, and soon as it caught it "eww man this feels weird" lol! We ended up playing with evolution. Now, going from WOGB to the WEVO, the WEVO felt so light and slippery and too sticky in random spots in contrast to the WOGB. Nonetheless, preciate your reviews and honest feedback bro.

I appreciate you for leaving this comment because you're describing the exact experience of getting the WOGB and getting it to the point you can use it. I also realized that genuine leather is great for lay ups because of the control you get with the leather. The break in time does suck but it's worth it. Can't wait to get the Wilson official ball. Thanks for the review
@Love2Hoop3 жыл бұрын
In your honest opinion, how would you best describe the control you get from genuine leather vs. composite leather? I think I've done a pretty good job but until you really play with one (pause) you don't truly understand. Great comment my guy!
@gregorybellii56623 жыл бұрын
@@Love2Hoop The way i would describe it is that the grip from the leather really exposes your skill in every way. It's tough to put it into words but in the basketball league I run we use the evolution for the games and since I recently got the official ball, that's all I've been playing with. The difference is literally night and day. Since I've been shooting with the official ball, the evolution is a piece of cake to play with. You can manipulate the control with a composite cover on the ball. You can't do that with leather. Every detail matters. So that's how I would describe the control of genuine leather vs composite leather. Manipulation.
@magic1kd3 жыл бұрын
I will say I just got the Spalding ball and it does feel alot different, I think your analysis is spot on. I feel like the grip I get from the Spalding is superior to any other ball. Those damn Evos get slippery real quick and as a semi big I usually get a sweaty ball from a guard and lose grip with the second I have to react from the assists. Didn't run into that problem with the Spalding. Everyone also seemed to shoot better with it.
@lightexposesdarkness1543 жыл бұрын
I'm shocked I haven't seen anyone mention just working a new leather ball with your hands to break it in to some degree and Skip months of bouncing around. It's a thin strip of leather for each panel and leather is leather it just needs some flexing. Flatten the ball some and just start working it and flexing it pushing down on it over a hard smooth surface. Maybe do that for however long someone can over a few days and it'll make a difference already without even using it yet. The Spalding I have is definitely softer already and with a little bit of moisture on the hands you can start feeling that "buttery" feel already and I haven't even shot with it yet. I like to shoot around once in awhile don't really care for the competition of the game. But I can say with a little moisture on your hands after working the ball with my hands over some time that it's definitely softer and has that better feel already. I haven't looked for it.... I'm sure it's out there somewhere but I haven't seen anyone say to just work it with your hands. But flattening it makes it a little easier so you can flex the leather a little bit more work it better. I believe most official sizes will end up in the 20. Something ouce range. The one I have measures perfect at 29.5 and it's 20.4ish Oz. The first one I got that I returned was just slightly bigger than 29.5 and it came in at 20.8 Oz. Obviously there will be a small variance but I don't think it's very much in most cases usually within half an ounce I would say. If it comes in bigger than 29.5 well then it makes sense that it might be slightly heavier too. I think the tolerance is plus or minus 1/8 for most. What I don't know is the durability of the leather ball? Like with everything hearing some contradicting perfectly opposite things. Long lasting before losing grip and feel? Or pretty short?
@Love2Hoop3 жыл бұрын
Brotha if you don’t have a channel you might want to start one because this review is SPOT ON. It’s funny because I’m constantly trying to work in the leather with my hands and a lot of it is just to get used to the feel. I’ve seen reviews talking about products that help strip that layer and helps bring out the leather quicker but personally I’m not sure about that stuff. I’d rather work it in over time or without products so that I don’t risk permanently damaging the leather. And like you said, when your hands are dry the ball doesn’t seem great but once their warmed up or have some sweat on them then you really get to see what the fuss is about with NBA Official basketballs. Aye top tier review/comment from you champ! Appreciate the love 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

@@Love2Hoop thanks no problem.... Without trying to sound corny...."it has the just right feel" Based on bouncing it around a little and warming up in the house I guess I have yet to see how it literally shoots. I could see the complaints but I can't see that it feels like a cheap crappy $5 ball I'm not seeing that I guess..... But yeah cold dry hands and a brand new ball compared to an evolution I suppose that's not too far off. I don't know if the evolution I have is defective but I find it needs to be about half of the recommended pressure not to be too bouncy. It takes about 4 PSI compared to 8 PSI in the official ball to bounce the same height for mine. Can't speak for any other but just the one I have that makes it soft and squishy so it kind of feels like a toy compared to the official ball...... I'm sure a ball at 4 PSI is going to bounce a lot softer on the rim compared to 8 PSI. Pluses and minuses with everything I guess

That's the wild thing about these genuine leather basketballs; if you don't use it the ball will never be broken in fully. Even after years you'll see the color change, but the leather will still be kinda hard until you putting miles on that ball. Now that I have the Wilson I go back and forth between it and the Spalding so that I can break in both at a similar rate.

Aye Quis well said my guy. That Spalding official is still one of the best out, and to be honest after going back to the Spalding after a day with the Wilson there is more of a difference than you think. I might have to do a true comparison video to break it down further, but if you feel like the size of the panels fits you better on a Wilson than the Spalding, make the switch. Otherwise you're good with the Spalding all day

@@Love2Hoop those panels are the same as the spalding. 8 panels and the spacing looks to be exactly the same. I've got the spalding I'm not seeing any difference based on the video on panel size. As for the Spalding leather balls I believe they vary some might end up having deeper pebbling and some less. But slight difference probably don't matter in the end after it breaks in a little Besides the obvious lettering being different I'm not saying much any different for design. It looks like they kept the "pro seams" style that a lot of spaldings have or ones that have "NBA" stamped on them. What's different on the panels?

@lightexposesdarkness1543 жыл бұрын
@@jamesstokes1726 I see the side though it is a soft cover and smooth has enough grip has like a nice feel to it right away. Who cares what it feels like when your hands are dry and cold and you're not even using it right? How does it work while you're sweating and using it would seem to be the only thing that matters. I'm not sure if the Wilson I have is defective but if it's not then I believe most of them need to be lowered under 8 PSI and order not to be too bouncy and that's where some of the softness comes in. I did a careful comparison and it took 5 PSI in my evolution to bounce the same height as the official ball at 8 PSI. Maybe they're all like that maybe not but that's how mine is. The evolution at 8 PSI has the same stiffness as any ball at a PSI cuz it's the same pressure. Granted it still has that soft cover on the surface but at 5 PSI it's literally softer and squishier because it's a lower pressure. I'm curious if someone else is evolution is noticeably under 8 PSI to wherever they naturally like it to bounce? Three full PSI under is noticeably softer and more squishy because you can compress it right away and some of that initial feeling of how it's soft could just be because it's always at a lower pressure. So it kind of feels a little like a toy because of that to me even though it is a nice feel still. Plus the evolution just stinks it's got a nasty strong smell to it that most composite balls don't even smell at all but the evolution does at least mine does. I like the seam style that the Spalding has and it's not too deep it doesn't take away the feel as some of the spalding composites have a deeper seam. The leather ball's kind of weird it changes the most to me based on how dry or damp the hand is and the ball temperature and if the ball's dry or not. It's like no good when your hands are bone dry and you first grab it and the ball's dry and then as you use it it comes alive or something with the feel and grip. Sometimes when my hands are real dry I grab the ball and I mean it's super slick and I can't feel that soft smooth feel ...... But as soon as a little bit of moisture comes in it changes and gets more grip the more damp or sweaty...... Which seems to be the best for actual gameplay. But the evolution is pretty decent too. All preference I guess.

It's damn near impossible to see training tips and advice for older/injury prone players. I don't really plan on competing besides the odd pickup game with friends. I love putting up shots and working on my shooting form. I love the game and am fairly new to it. So I guess I'd really like to see a vid or advice for people like me, I hope it's not too counterintuitive to the hypercompetitive hoopers that may make up most of basketball youtube

Are you able to speak on the spaldings reliability? How it holds up to wear? Looks like they just came out with basically the same Ball but now it doesn't have NBA or official stamping on it for $150 on the website. Only thing in writing I see different is that it says it's rotational balanced or something like that. Not sure if the other one was and they're just throwing that in there or if it's actually an improvement.....tf series instead of official NBA stamping.
@Love2Hoop3 жыл бұрын
I think the Spaulding official is a great basketball and very reliable. It actually gets BETTER over time as wear starts to improve the leather. The TF Series is also a solid indoor ball so can’t go wrong there either.

Some NBA PLAYERS knew about Wilson was nearly hated.
@Love2Hoop2 жыл бұрын
Prince knows what's up! I thought it was interesting that Wilson used Trey Young and Jamaal Murray for the consultants on the basketball. Two smaller guards who dribble and shoot a lot of 3's. I'd imagine the feedback would be different say KD or LeBron gave feedback on the ball. Guys will hate it then get used it, but I think Wilson is trying to make the transition from high school to NBA easier as far as the ball goes.
@TheTigress Жыл бұрын
Does your Wilson NBA ball seem to have a weaker return bounce than the Spalding NBA ball? The Wilson seems to absorb the bounce more on impact and it doesn't seem as snappy or predictable on the return than the Spalding was. I even inflated my Wilson a little higher to try to compensate. This is most noticeable dribbling laterally from one hand to the other or anything behind your back. The bounce seems fine when you have it in front of you and are bouncing it up and down, but when dribbling side to side, it seems like the return bounce makes the ball go further out instead of back up, and it's causing some issues. I love the Wilson NBA ball aside from that one thing. Maybe my ball is still in the break in process, but I have more than 2 months on it and it's already feeling very nice as far as the texture goes, since I have used it every single day. I'm really hoping the bounce gets a little better.
@Love2Hoop Жыл бұрын
I've kinda noticed the same thing. Mostly, the ball that is mostly broken in doesn't bounce as much as the newer version. It's not like it doesn't bounce when I put force behind it, but if I were to drop it versus dribble it, the return isn't like a Spalding doing the same thing. I've overinflated both my Wilson NBA to keep the bounce of the basketball the way I want it.
@TheTigress Жыл бұрын
@@Love2Hoop Thank you for sharing your experience. I noticed the exact same thing with mine, even though mine is a newer batch. I even talked to another basketball player at my YMCA who has the Wilson and he told me that he noticed this as well. I have mine pumped to 9 psi now and will see if that helps it some. Too bad that adding more PSI will make this already firm ball even more firm, but to me the trade off is worth it if the bounce gets a little better. I'm really hoping that this improves as it turns more chocolate colored. I think it has to do with the internal construction, because even the sound it makes when bouncing is a little different from the Spalding.
@TheTigress Жыл бұрын
@@Love2Hoop Putting my ball at 9 psi has made it chef's kiss now. At that pressure, the bounce is now pretty interchangeable to the Spalding, and I'm very pleased with how it responded at the gym today. From here on out I'll keep it like that unless I need to adjust due to it further breaking in.

I just bought a Wilson NBA official game ball & i swear to GOD the damn ball has a hole in it somewhere. I gotta fill it with air every day & gets flat while shootting. It is not worth $200. The spalding ball was alot better. I do NOT recommend buying!
@Love2Hoop2 жыл бұрын
You know what I had a similar problem with mine. If I didn't use the ball I found that it would start to deflate faster than your average composite leather ball. This is a really good question and one I would probably have trouble with myself. I prefer the Replica because I think over time I'll like the feel of the basketball more than I would the Authentic. I'm looking to get a ball for outdoor use. Which ball would you recommend ? I do have a Wilson Evolution, is it really that bad to use outdoors ?
@Love2Hoop3 жыл бұрын
You can use it outdoors, but it'll ruin quickly. The biggest issue with that ball outside is it has little to no grip as soon as it becomes dirty or dusty. Once you strip that top composite leather layer off it'll feel great outside but it'll be time to buy a new one before you know it because once that layer is gone the panels starts peeling. My favorite other than a Molten is the Wilson NCAA Replica ball for outside.

What are your thoughts on Paul George saying that the ball isn't as soft as the Spalding?
@Love2Hoop2 жыл бұрын
I played with the Spalding this morning, and he's right. The Spalding was made for shooters, straight up. The Spalding is a lot more favorable with bounces on the rim than the Wilson, and the ball is consistent no matter how you hold it when you shoot. The funny part is his FG percentage is the highest it's ever been while averaging more points than he ever has, BUT his 3 point percentage is down so that's probably what he's referring too.

What's up Erick, great question! If you check my comparison video with this one and the Spalding you'll see somewhat of a color change. To be honest, I can't even compare the feel to anything, MAYBE a Nike Championship but not nearly as soft. The grip is like the Spalding, but the rotation is very similar to the Nike Championship.

Yes and no. You could play with it outside for a short period to break it in faster, but you run the risk of ruining the leather and once that’s gone it’s pretty much an outdoor ball. And YES I can grow the full House Party flattop but it’s a pain to maintain 😂🤣🤣🤣
