Ben Simmons has been the most disappointing player since losing to the Hawks in the 2021 playoffs. After all the bad press, many former players have criticized Simmons in many ways.

The worst part about it is he doesn’t understand the damage he’s doing to the game. Owners are going to use him as an example in the upcoming CBA. Ben Simmons is why owners will become reluctant on paying players that much guaranteed money.

He was given too much money too young and his mentality is now "I have everything I want, I don't really want to play basketball". I'm amazed that the 76ers and Nets haven't sued him for basically robbing them. I empathise with mental health issues but he's never shown any commitment since he signed his first contract, using mental health as an excuse for bailing is damaging to people who actually struggle with mental health. I'd respect him if at 76ers he said "Hey I'm going to take a season, get therapy and get treatment to be able to get back on court and pay back this city for the faith and money they have put into me". However he just seems to use it as an excuse, without doing anything about it other than showing off the money he's making. That ain't mental health, that's an asshole.

If ben passed up a shot like that in a big game like the NCAA championship or a high-school state championship, your whole team would curse you out, you might even have to fight in the locker room! Playoffs and chips don't come easy! But that player would take responsibility for his f**k up, get back on the court and stand tall for his brothers. That "my mind ain't right" shit does not get a pass with real hoopers!! Chris Paul's grandfather was murdered and the same week he went and scored a point for every year of his life. CP3 Ended that game with over 60 points. Kobe was accused of R**e and plenty of people were ready to crucify him. Kobe went out in a playoff game and had like 40 that same week. To add to this, injuries are a serious thing, but A. Hurting your back from doing absolutely nothing is bullshit and B. Even then, some of the greatest performances in nba history have came from injured players. Pistons IT legendary 25 point 4th quarter in the finals, Kobe Bryant winning at least 2 different rings despite being his leg being deliberately injured (2000) and playing through a broken finger and bum knee (2010), Willis Reed taking down the superteam Lakers, basically Larry bird's entire career in the second half. Moral of the story, tighten the fuck up Benjamin

But nah, he showed everyone that you cant question him without him folding and retreating. Dudes career is over, he’ll play next year but i doubt he’ll be what the Nets need him to be. I'm glad nets fans got to see how he acts this season.. curry is the real prize from that trade.

Dude got his max deal and the massive generational wealth. Now he probably feels he can do/act however he wants since he and his family are taken care of until the 22nd Century. Also, if his jumper is his main flaw that can be worked on. Many athletic players improve it out of necessity because or age so there's no reason he can't shoot 1,000 shots a day over the summer. Vince Carter comes to mind and also of course MJ during his unretirement and Wizards years. Not that Simmons is on a Jordan (or even Vince) level but I just wanted to point out familiar examples. Furthermore, if he is too fragile to accept soft criticism (or just advice really) from teammates who want to help him, how the hell is he going to overcome any sort of adversity in his career? Being active on social media probably doesn't help but since it looks like he doesn't take advice he probably will just continue what he's doing; competing to be the NBA's premier Prima Donna primarily against Harden, Kyrie, Westbrook and KD. If you were lucky enough to be an owner imagine how much easier life would be if your franchise, supermax player was someone like Jokic or Giannis instead of Simmons or Kyrie or Harden.

Ben Simmons is a legend in his own mind. But he has successfully gotten 5-10 minutes of attention/discussion on every sports news program, he had the cameras focusing on his nightly spectator wardrobe and jewelry, while collecting paychecks from 2 teams without playing one minute of pro basketball. Is he a bust or a genius? The joke’s on all of us!! What a guy!
@RogerBliddack
@RogerBliddack 2 жыл бұрын
Ben Simmons is not a genius. There are 3 types of players in the NBA. 1) The players who do alot for the league... 2) The players who are just happy to be in the league... 3) The players who the league does more for them.... than they do for the league. Ben Simmons falls into the 3rd category. (ie The league does more for him than he does for the league.) Translation = He is just the type of player who loves what 'being in the NBA' does for him. It enables him to have millions of dollars in his bank account. It enables him to be a celebrity & to hang out with other celebrities. It enables him to get women without any effort. Those are the things that are important to him…. Actually 'playing basketball' is waaayy down on his list of priorities. And when you compare Ben Simmons to other players like Steph Curry, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, LeBron James, etc. you quickly realize that all the of greatest players did more to expand the fanbase of the NBA (worldwide).... than the league did for them. In other words, their impact (overall) on ticket sales, championships, charity work, merchandise, fandom, sportmanship, team revenue, business partnerships, etc..... was far greater than the amount of money they got paid in NBA salary.

Ben Simmon has been a Diva even before the NBA, started with the australian national team, everybody turned a blind eye because like someone said, he is like the pretty girl everyone wants to date due to his skillset and his size, but in the end is the same girl that ends up being shallow, weak minded and as time goes by she gets passed around a lot until she is forgotten. Ben seems to be like that only child that never got scolded so now its impossible for him to be humble.

Let us not forget. Same guy that won rookie of the year in his second season because he is so special. I'm kinda surprised, based on his delicate sensibilities, that he didn't get a participation trophy for showing up to games just to placate him. Watch the movie Glass and take to heart the lesson about overly strong people having counterparts that are equally fragile. This guy is the fragile inverse of Kobe. Kobe would be fighting and playing until he just can't. Having ice his knees for hours at a time in between his 4 daily workouts to fix his shooting motion because hes got broken fingers. Not this guy. He has some muscle spasms and it's time to give up on your team in the playoffs.

Plenty of people have depression in the real world Ben, but despite most not even being able to earn MILLIONS, most of them still attend work. The expectation for someone who lives an average life still is that they'll have to go to work even if they have mental health issues. There are limits, and you're a damn disgrace, especially to those who , despite mental health issues, would trade their shoes with you in a heartbeat and play their heart out even without half the talent you may have.

Ben cares more about his extravagant life style above playing basketball I mean the dude is continues to be up and about despite a back injury that is serious enough he can’t play and let’s be frank any back injury that serious he shouldn’t be taking part in shoot around or at the game at all just because of how the injury could be made worse. Then there is that leaked bit about how Rich Paul phrased Simmons demand out of Philly (to refresh your memory he said that as a “young socialite” he requested to be traded to one of the California teams). Dude is such a fucking joke and I imagine that he could be making himself into a player front offices don’t want to go anywhere near if this continues.

Simmons is the SOFTEST player ever!!!! With the softest time in NBA 2010-2020. And the media is to blame for all this for OVERRATING mediocre players that are not to the NBA standards. LBJ started his soft super team era cos he could never beat the Magic nor the Celtics to win anything so he had to take his talents to S beach to team up to win. SOFT EASY RINGS... C'mon Simmons CANNOT shoot how in the hell you get paid that much? OVERRATED. He needs to go back to Australia. mediocre player. And the last couple of seasons with the new rules all the mediocrity got exposed. Starting with the Fraud Harden, Westbrook, Lowry, and all those overrated players that all they did was flopping and drawing fake charges. Now the competence is back its like the real NBA 80s and 90s there is no place for mediocre soft players anymore. Welcome back real NBA, thank you Silver for changing the rules and Giannis for showing everyone how to do it with balls and sweat NOT SOFTLY and easy rings a la LBJ. I mean c'mon KD got his ass kicked by GSW and then he went and joined them. GTFOH you cannot be softer than that...Just like Kobe said, SOFT, you are SOFT!!!

I dug out numerous tweets that I have tweeted back in that draft that Simmon was in, I have said that he is overrated for sure because you can’t be a guard or a person that has the ball most of the time running the offense and can’t shoot… like at all. People think Jason Kidd couldn’t shoot, and they are right… but Simmon is waaaaaay worse than Kidd in terms of shooting. *offtopic* do you guys think that he has the Kardashian‘s curse as well 🤣? I hope Devin Booker don’t fall victims on that because he has so much talent and so much fun to watch.

So many valid comments offered by viewers on the Ben Simmons matter. It seems that NBA owners and managers consistently make the same mistake-offering top recruits premium contracts before the recruit establishes that he can be competitive in the league. You would think that after so many years, and so many teams have been burned, management would silently agree (emphasis added) to offer recruits tiered contract.

The single most important skill for a guard is SHOOTING. He can ball handle. He can rebound. He can pass. He can drive. He can dunk. But he can't SHOOT. That's a big deal. He has zero confidence shooting a ball. If I took Giannis and Ben and set them side by side and I need a 3.... I am taking Giannis (a below average shooter). BS only has one option: slashing to the basket. Can he score with his back to the basket? Nope. Suggestions: Move him to small forward. I would never have him at point guard. Never! I need shooting at my guard spots. Another option is to just bench him. He is not a starter IMO. I would use him to set screens and move the ball and make plays and occasionally slash. The offense should NEVER focus on this sub. He might excel in the fast break too. So I could use him for that. He is so hard to plug into a line up because he is a double threat and not a triple threat. He is ALWAYS going to drive. Defenders can back up off him and just protect their basket as a result.
