In this video we break down the top 10 army lists from the Clash of the Titans tournament here in Australia. It had 82 players, 5 rounds and 600 points.

4:12 I believe Sean’s list actually has 9 Might right? Each Siege comes with 1M on the Veteran.

Thanks for the load down Jacob! I’m also starting an army of Gothmog and was wondering what your thoughts would be if you bumped the points level to 800pts? Also super interested in how you dealt with terror… I really don’t want to waste points on a shaman… amazing content bro and keep it coming! Joel

I had two games against armies with terror and they were rough but I won both of them. You need to be able to use your positioning really well have have a lot of spears to be able to deal with it. The heroes have better courage and if they can be charging in and killing while the orcs are holding the line and charging where possible its very winnable. I don't like shamans becuase a lot of terror armies have ringwraiths which will just sap will on the shaman anyway making it a 50 point waste. At 800 points I would add a drummer and then 13 more orcs to properly horde out.

What is a normal amount of terrain in a competitive game? Will there be any guides on this in the future.

The rule book recommends 33%-50% of the board covered which is a decent amount of terrain

Nice one, you do not see ashrak in aol because you NEED the fury on your troops with normal shaman so his list is better choice of else terror is huge issue

I’ve been running army of gothmog lately as well. What was your reasoning for not wanting to take Goroth? Also I’ve been taking 2 handed Mordor orcs with maces for the bash and it’s been very effective for me. Also Matt’s list doesn’t add up 1/3 of 23 models is 8, but he has 25 warriors in his army plus the 2 heroes for 27 models

Goroth is super cool but my list didn't need him. Firstly I wanted to have the highest model count possible and him costing more than the other heroes meant I would have needed to drop numbers. Combine that with his special rule where he can throw orcs in the way and it would have caused me to have even lower numbers if I ever used it. He would increase the killing power of the list but with everything being S4 I was already able to kill enemy armies very quickly so I preferred to increase other attributes of my army. Zagdush is 20 points cheaper and with 3 attacks is able to win fights more reliably, Guritz provides march that can be used with the taskmaster and has the special rules of maelstrom of battle. In Matt's army that would have been my mistake. The written list is correct

@@ConquestCreations makes sense! How do you feel about taking Mordor orcs with 2 handed maces for the bash? I’ve found that having 3-5 in the army does wonders. You have a high enough model count that the -1 to duel rolls doesn’t affect you to much and it provides the army the much needed ability to knock enemies prone

well i been following you for over a year now , i had no clue ,you and your fellow mesbg players were in Australia , lol , i was under the impression you guys were brits playing in europe, lol , i am just really glad the game is doing well" down under", i really love your modular castle system, i been thinking of making terrain to advantage the troops i use (Warg riders and Trolls).i am still using the old method to create anything(insulation styrofoam, foam boards,plaster), i am lucky to be bilingual (french /english) , the game is doing well in Canada, France .

I might be stupid but can someone explain how do you get to the top table and come 9th ?

USually when tourneys have lots of players, it isn't uncommon for a lot of people to only have major wins going into the final round. Which means that when your at the top table, and don't get that final win and not get anymore tournament points. You might suddenly drop like 10 places because others who ranked lower, did get that final win and still climbed the ladder.

Tournament points for major wins gets you to top table, major loss last round bumps you down, and VPs as a tiebreaker bumps you down even further

After round 4 Sean and Alex were in position 1 and 2 both being on 4 wins. Alex won the game meaning he was the only player in 5 wins and Sean had 4 wins and a loss. There were other players who were on 4 wins and a draw or 4 wins and a loss but had better VP differential than Sean. It was rough for him to drop all the way to 9th but was just how the scores worked out

Yeah look I'd be lying if I didn't say it hurt to drop from 2nd to 9th, but to finish top ten of a 81 player event, beating 2 players that finished in the top 5 (4th and 5th) and only losing to Alex who won the whole event. I'd say I had a successful run out and I'm pretty damn proud of myself. Also just so chuffed and proud of Alex. That man truly deserved the win. -Sean

They do. That army actually has 28 models, not 23 - typo at the bottom most probably.

@joeltimonen8268 i thought you couldn't count heroes for the bow limit? 9 bows on 26 warriors?

I think it's just that heroes don't count against the bow limit if they have a bow. Besides, even if it was 26 models, you round up on the 33% so 9 crossbows would be ok
