I have the same conclusion as you, I am using 24hex/36dec as well for the longest time (but I have tested mine in-game as I am more sensitive to this). Mostly no foreground/background boosts values worked best for me and at the end I was only comparing 36dec vs 40dec and found 36dec to be better for input latency. I love your other tweaks it always gives me something new to test on my side of things :D.

im actually excited youre testing this now Alch, so ive played around with this setting alot, and no matter what i use, 26 hex has always ALWAYS been what ive performed best on from a competitive FPS gaming standpoint!

i know that some people, who use timer resolution alot, suggested setting it to Hex 16, for less core switching and decreased chance of "core collision" was what i believed there reasoning to be, but i tested it, and i simply performed substantially worse, 26, 2A, and 28 hex all felt best, 26 feeling the snappiest and having lowest input delay

i will say that, some games feel different and more responsive with different numbers, i havent tested this myself as i am an overwatch player, but i read alot of people saying 2A felt best in fortnite but worse in other games, might be best to test yourself as it could vary system to system

Windows32PrioritySeparation works slightly different in Windows Server. I'm kinda confused about the default values, since in my Windows 7 installation, the first time i jumped to that registry key, it was already in 26 (38 dec), not 2. Maybe it changed from 2 to 26 if i have selected "Programs"? Also: it's not clear to me if i should use variable or fixed quantum for a long, sustained task like audio processing in real time, what would you suggest?

I’m pretty sure that also in windows 7 the default preset is the value 2 . Also unfortunately I can’t suggest something, the only suggestion is the value 24hex based on tests

Chiming in a bit late (been a month since original comment)... I can confirm that on Win10 if you choose "Programs" in Performance Options (Advanced tab), windows will set the value to hex 26 (38 dec), and selecting "Background services" sets it to hex 18 (24 dec). I'd assume Win7 performs the same, however the whole "default value 2" usually comes from Win11 users primarily, though I haven't checked it personally as I'm still using Win10.

Tested and tested and tested but always coming back to 1a. Maybe it’ because of my potato pc that need those long times. It’s that smoothness my eyes enjoy together with Freesync + Vsync on plus capped refresh rate.

@@Alchemytweaks i’ve used that Freesync combo for a long time and have had issues with sudden fps spikes that makes some stuttering and even sometimes causing Freesync blackscreen (2-3sec). Hex 1a is the only setting making those things go away. I’ve got better overall system latency, (mostly during music rendering) but a little bit of extra input delay. But for some reason i aim better snipes. Maybe my eyes getting old (im soon 39 lol) and somehow have it easier to follow/react making flicks or quick scopes. Dont know, but apperently it works. Maybe my 500hz polling rate with 400dpi got some to do with it aswell. I don’t like it when the mouse is too responsive. I’m a bit shakey in my hands. One thing i find interesting tho. All Long Fixed have the same values no matter high foreground or no foreground. Isnt all those supposed to work the same then? But in tests it seems there is a difference after all. Maybe i’ve misunderstood something about how the Foreground boost actually works.

Hey, first of all I want to thank you for the sub ! 24hex based on my tests looks better but win32 is not something so incredible that should concern you , it doesnt matter the OS version actually , all values work the same , the only difference is usually from Clients Versions vs Server Versions which means by default they using different default preset values . Latency mode is good in ultra possibly but you must test how you feel , same for hardware acceleration and all other stuff , I may spent some time to those stuff. Again thanks for your support.

DPC/ISR Lower is Better ONLY when Windows is in IDLE. If you start a Game the more Performance & Lowest Latency you have - the higher the DPC/ISR will be. Ofc. the goal is to get the best Performance/Latency with less DPC/ISR as possible BUT You cannot get the Best Performance/Latency with the lowest DPC/ISR ! The requirements for Single Player Games & Online FPS Shooters for ex. (where u need low input lag & high responsiveness) are different. You can have slightly lower FPS but better input lag. So highest FPS doesnt always mean the Best.

​@@Alchemytweaks Nothing wrong with the highest FPS. Like I said there are different requirements for Single Player & Online Multiplayer Games. FPS shows only the throughtput. Foreground boost ensures the game has higher priority & assures the game gets most of the CPU Resources first, as fast as possible. With 24 there is no Foreground Boost & it takes CPU time from the Game. The foreground process (the Game) should have the system resources at its disposal before anything else. The game is the most important process here. Anything in real time is more important. A program checking for Updates or just refreshing is not more important than the game but it will start regardless without it (at the same time enemy shoots at you). Single Player games doesnt have this problem. I dont know what you mean by "if we reach the minimum DPC/ISR?".

​@@Alchemytweaks You probably mean maximum, not minimum, otherwise makes no sense. There is no DPC & ISRs limit. There is max MSIs limit (2048). You have to run a lot of other programs & processes in the background (& you should be disabling apps not adding) to get so much queued DPC & ISRs to hinder the performance because will take too long response times. The thing is I prefer to starve the background process in favor of my Game.
