The WIN9MHSC/Active Duty, M1152 is my main ammo. Accurate, 10% hotter than NATO’s 9mm issue, expands after three times FBI penetration protocol. The flat point causes cavitation passing through the viscera, a bubble of air, causing displacement- a wound cavity that disrupts the internals. This is far superior to FMJ and even some JHPs. This is a worthwhile substitute for many JHPs. Only premium solid lead core flat points, like from Buffalo Bore, Underwood, and Federal would be more devastating. Remember, there are always newer, better examples of technology- even those rediscovered long after going out of vogue.

I believe changing RN round nose to FN flat nose solves at least 80% of the shortcomings of RN, without introducing the 50% of new problems from hollow point - hollow point has problems going through windshields, and problems opening in the target has more than a tee shirt on.
@johnnorman77088 ай бұрын
Interesting that a flat nose FMJ 124 grain 9mm bullet was developed by Hornady as a US Air Force project in the late 70s or early 80s. I loaded and shot a few boxes of the .45 cal 230 grain version back in the 80s. Now Winchester is loading a flat nose ball round as a "new" official 9mm military round. I suppose they wanted the 115 grain for better velocity.
@mdubb48557 ай бұрын
Inexplicable why they didn't use 124 grain which is an approved weight for NATO.

Did you notice any primer seal to prevent moisture incursion? In terms of hollowpoint, if engaging with enemies under Geneva Convention rules, hollow point is prohibited. Special forces engaging terrorists (who are not recognized as states nor parties to the Geneva Convetion) are permitted to use hollow points, and 147 grain is usually slow enough for silencer use. For troop use, penetration is essential and the 115 flat nose is excellent. For close quarters combat in rooms that contains your comrades or hostages, reducing over penetration is essential, and hollow points are theoretically better due to expanding and thus slowing down earlier. I agree that hollow points are mostly bogus. They increase the risk of feeding problems. They seldom open (in Tools and Gun Sam tests) if there is clothing in front of the test gel - the clothing fragments clog the hollow point. You are the first vlogger to really understand these two rounds. M1152 and M1153 out of a 5" barrel are as energetic as the lower-loaded .40 roiunds, and much lighter.
@RTmadnesstoo7 күн бұрын
Try the Hague Convention or Conference as it was called in 1899. They had no term 'hollow point' but said 'bullets that deform on the human body' like for instance 7.62x39. It also banned dropping Bombs and the United States never signed it.

I too have the ruger PC carbine-- and this stuff is the BOMB ! 1600 FPS. Drops javelina & coyotes in their tacks- my longest kill to date is 70yds. The carbine is also my GO TO home & yard protection-- with a light & red dot , 30 rnd glock mags. It replaces my AR as first choice as it has no muzzle flash- or deafening blast-- can't be looking for "ears" when things go south in the middle of the night 'eh.

Thanks for watching this ammo is great can be used for Self Defense as well as target and hunting many hogs and coyotes have fallen to this ammo when shot from my PC 9 Carbine. I recommend putting back 1000 rounds for every 9mm weapon you own. So, say if you own 3 9mm weapons put back 3,000 rounds. . Same with all firearms you own always 1,000 Rounds for each caliber weapon. When the War Starts you will be prepared to defend yourself when the invaders come use your ammo and firearm to take their weapons and their ammo. No worries about long term storage just keep it in a cool dry area, I had some surplus WWII ammo in 30-06 & .45 ACP and I fired 500 rounds of each caliber not one of them failed to fire, and that surplus ammo had been in storage for more than 75 Years. With the old 30-06 I was ringing steel at 700 meters on a 36"x18" "target with a m1917 Remington 03 Springfield look alike of WW1 ERA!

General theory is it's only overproduction, sold as Ranger, Active Duty without the M1152 designation, or as M1152 with or without an additonal brand name. I'm guessing if it lacks the M1152 co-branding or branding, we can't be sure it satisfies all milspec requirements, the most important to me is primer sealing and waterproof cartidge seating. Since my main interest is practicing recoil control, the distinction doesn't matter to me; but this stuff is hotter than most rounds sold as defense rounds.

@@redzone1019 It's +p for sure. Normal SAAMI is 35,000psi. +p is between 5-10% higher pressure (38,500psi is SAAMI +P max) SAAMI doesn't have a set pressure for +p+ 9mm but its usually loaded anywhere from 39,500-42,000psi, with 42k being the NATO pressure. Shot a half a box today and its hotter than any other round I've put through my G3c, the hottest prior being +p defense loads. It's not as hot as actual NATO rounds in my opinion, though I've not put any NATO through the same pistol to have a 1:1 comparison. Says on the box that it's loaded "10-15% higher than industry standard" so it's safe to assume it's between 38,500 and 40,250psi. Nowhere does it say it's NATO-spec, so I doubt it's loaded to 42k. Unless you've got a really old 9mm I think you'll be fine. The G3c I used is a compact and it runs great, just a little more recoil than normal; about like a .40s&w recoil, so still pretty mild.

The only widely publicized firearm failures where the outstanding Beretta 92's produced for the US government contract. Winchester screwed up the ammo design and their "normal service rounds" were unintetionally loaded to PROOF pressure levels. So during their service lives, soldiers were range shooting all proof pressure rounds. After many thousands of rounds, some Berettas failed. The government said it was a Beretta defect but Beretta investigated, discovered the Winchester improper design, and sued and won for libel. Since then Beretta beefed up all non-government 92's to handle routine proof pressure rounds (they could only fix, not improve, the government contract models, since government contracts in this case prohibit even improvements). The civilian and Marine and specal forces 92's can handle the higher pressure since the Marinies and special forces purchase under different contracts than the main contract. It's an utterly bizarre tale, this one guntuber lays it out in his well-documented videos, forget his name.

The downside to using ball ammo for "home defense" is over penetration. Ball ammo is much more likely go through the threat and into something or someone else. In war getting two for one would not be a worry, however in your house where other family members are present it creates more risk for over penetration then a hollow point does by far. Just food for thought.

The announcement for the monumental shift was made at the U.S. Army’s Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, where military lawyers said the United States never signed the Hague Convention more than a century ago, and therefore are not technically prohibited from using hollowpoint ammunition. The major push for switching ammo types came out growing concern for innocent bystanders. In the urban combat today’s troops increasingly find themselves in, over-penetration is not an option. FMJ’s, which largely maintain their shape at the point of impact and excel at energy transfer, can potentially pass through their intended target and strike another, unintended target. JHP’s, on the other hand, quickly expand at the point of impact, causing a more significant wound channel while decreasing the chance of over-penetration. The military still plans to use FMJ’s for training purposes, but when it comes to combat, all troops will soon be equipped with JHP’s. That being said, the caliber of choice has yet to be determined, though many experts believe that based on FBI data, the 9MM is a solid contender. @@bjbarlow Winchester was selected by the Army in 2017 to develop ammo for the 9mm MHS. It eventually released the M1152 full-metal jacket and M1153 special-purpose loads. The M1152 ball cartridge was designed for use against the enemy and in training, while the M1153, a jacketed hollow-point round, was suited for certain specialized and special operations-style missions. www.military.com/daily-news/2019/09/30/winchester-now-selling-ammo-developed-armys-mhs-consumers.html

Genevieve says that hollow points cause unnecessary suffering. Plus, in civil life, you are responsible for the bullet when it leaves the barrel. If you hit a bystander, your liability is up for jail. That's why law enforcement uses hollow points for shooting. Very little liability

Not all LE uses HP ammo some are restricted to ball ammo only. Ball ammo might not open up a traumatic wound like a hollow point will but it will kill just the same. a Hollowpoint might not penetrate a car door but 9 mm ball will .Ball ammo penetrates deeper than HP .But a good point.Some special military units use the Hollow Points permitted by the Genevieve convention .

Thanks for watching this ammo works well if its good enough for our military it's good enough for me.It's not the ammo that rolled them its the shock on nerves when the bullet passed thru.When they are hit on the run their momentum and weight make them roll.No Bullet can roll a large hog even a 50 caliber .Its the shock to the nerves their speed and weight that really rolls them.Remember the 16. 5" carbine rifle the velocities are faster than the standard 4"or 5" barrel also.I am a Combat Infantryman that has used his side arm both .45ACP & 9MM on an attacking enemy combatants in the early 70s & 90s. and the military ball ammo stopped them cold.

115 g 9mm will only punch through one side of a cook stove. 124g did better.

I never shot a cook stove ?I shot cars and trucks with them and they penetrated from trunk lid on a old Lincoln to the fire wall passing through the rear & front seats .shooting front to rear through the windshield it went through the seats front and rear exited the trunk lid.

Agreed ball ammo can kill but it’s BS that it does as well as hollow point rounds. The reason military can’t use hollow point ammo is because of the Geneva convention where they said hollow point rounds caused to much damage to tissue. I want to see the test that shows a ball round performing as well as a hollow point round. Every test I’ve done personally ball ammo goes through the target with just one or two holes but a decent hollow point round usually stops in the target while causing massive wound channels. With ball ammo you run the risk of over penetrating and continuing past the intended target with enough energy to harm whatever or whomever is behind your target.

Thanks for watch .No BS I shoot alot and Ive hunted with this M1152 II5 GRAIN ammo in a carbine rifle & Pistol and the flat nose of this ball ammo does more damage to the Animal ie Wild Boar the Wounds are devestating I have made well places shoulder shots with the HP and had the hog to run 100 yards before finding it and have to use another round to dispatch it. The HP was stopped by shoulder bone but the ball destroyed the shoulder and dropped the hog in its tracks . Ive shot every thing from Humans ,Deer , Hogs ,coyotes with ball and HP ammo the ball won out in these shootings resulting in death of the target , my question what have you shot with 9mm ? I never BS and I am not going to provide you with a test I can oniy tell you FROM my experiance with 9mm and what I killed with it . The Enemy combatant I shot with 9mm Ball 128 grain NATO of one round fired the round hit center of the chest the enemy combatant fell forward on his face Dead he was loading an rpg and about 4 yards from me.. I never used an HP on a Human but have used ball and hp on several Wild Boar Deer Coyotes it kills as effectivly as the HP Shot placement is key .I am in the field every night with my Job as Nuisance Wild Life Control Operator and have used 9mm Ball in both pistol and Carbine Rifle with night vision IR & Thermal .
