I gotta say I’m really enjoying the content your putting out Sir. I love all the history of the firearms you showcase. That’s the biggest reason I watch I wish there were more channels like yours. If you know of any I can sub to that would be great

I inherited on of these made in 1912 in 30.06. It was my great grandfather's deer gun. The barrel was shorted by a few inches (common practice back then but sucks for collector value, not that I'd ever sell it) and has a curved metal butt plate. It kicks like a mule because it's so lightweight. I could only fire 5 rounds before I had to quit because of the bruise in my shoulder. Thanks for explaining how to load it. It's a weird design.

You’re lucky it’s in 30-06......Being that mine is in 30-40 Krag.....I cant find ammo. Have a little bit but I’m holding onto it because of the rarity.

The thumbnail shows a 1894 Winchester! The 1895 is my favorite of all the lever guns. I own a saddle ring carbine M1895 in 30-06. My most valuable firearm.

Thanks. Fixed it. Had a dedicated photo and forgot to attach it so youtube pulled a random frame from the video. That 1895 of yours sounds nice.

I was fortunate to inherit 2 1895s 30:06 made in 1925

Both from 1925? Cool. How close are the serial numbers to each other?

Thanks for the video enjoy the info , just spent some time at the range with my 1895 30 army and it is just a lot of fun to shoot . At first I was afraid to use it because of the value of it but why own a weapon that you only look at !

The 30-40 ammo scarcity is the real tragedy.

That is a short barrel on your 95. What is the length? The black wood on the for-end is usually ebony, not plastic.
@MilsurpGarage2 жыл бұрын
It’s 22’’….the shortest they made them I think. It’s faux ebony I believe. Maybe not plastic but doubt it’s real ebony. I’ve heard it called Blackwood and even Bakelite.

@@MilsurpGarage If the forend is original to the rifle, Winchester used ebony from the factory.
@MilsurpGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@tberkoff Well, ok. You sound pretty confident so ebony it is. I believe the wood to be the 1902 original. It came with a Cody Firearm Record letter but I forgot to show it.

The black wood insert at the end of the forend is actually ebony wood. Not plastic 👍

That’s a GORGEOUS rifle Boss! Great video 💯…… wonder if it had one of those giant long target scopes on it?? Would possibly explain the holes and extra dovetail 🤷🏻♂️
@MilsurpGarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah, not sure exactly…..I think there was a mount I saw somewhere in a photo that lined up perfectly with those holes so I knew exactly what it was……if memory serves me correct it was some type of factory thing. Regardless, I paid WAY less that what it would have brought if not marred. Worked out for me.

For a short clip on your top vid, you gave a real opinion on savage, then you waded into the winchester swamp 1895, your other vid on 1895 mauser that was better, than even the lame krag at the time America lost the 1895 tech game.
