Wow! Kayaking Estonia. I never thought of it, but it would be a cool trip.

Did some open water in my pelican last summer. Tide was turning and for 15 minutes I felt very small and foolish. Made it!

Surfing or using the wind to surf is awesome. Sometimes traveling over 30knots in a 40knot wind. Say 30 or 45 minutes paddling out against the wind, and 15 to 10 minutes back. Estimated, as having too much fun to record.

So I need a film crew and safety boat to paddle in stormy weather?
@justaquestion19346 жыл бұрын
to do it like him I guess so

No. Safer when the wind is blowing towards shore or in a harbour. Risky if blowing offshore.

There is no storm in the video. Maximum - strong wind - 10-13 m/s. I always take spare oars and a pump with me. I don't walk alone in this kind of weather (I only did it once).

Why was the skeg fully deployed when going into waves/wind?
@Master-di4di Жыл бұрын
If you do not use a skeg or rudder you can get blown all over the place. Distance paddlers learnt that long ago. Going around Rangitoto island I had a female leader who had her skeg stuck inside her kayak. We got tired of waiting for her being blown sideways so we landed and I freed her skeg. She kept together after that although a little bit slow for some of us. Travel together, be safe.

Why do these kayaking videos have the absolute worst music?
@RyanDGreen19845 жыл бұрын
best?
@goof2604 жыл бұрын
they don't even need music. I would rather hear the wind and surf sounds.
