I am not doing any more framed pictures like this but I do have 2 that are embroidery hoops with a crocheted background and embroidered picture, but you could put appliques on them as well.

I purchased a frame and glue the piece to the frame backing. Sizing is important but if it is too small, you can stretch it. If it is too big, then you will want to glue it really well and then trim the edges. (Yes we are cutting stitches so it won't be removable).
