When you apply the flashing tape you just precut it long ways so it doesn’t protrude past the window frame and be visible?

I have a question about sash removal. This is the fifth minute. It seems to me that if you first saw off the upper vertical post, then you can simply lift the sashes and they will come out easier from the opening. In addition, you do not need to hit the partition close to the glass of the sash with a hammer with the risk of catching the glass.

I think I understand what you're saying, but I don't believe it can be done that way. The tension of the balancer coil is mounted at the top.

I'm really enjoying your videos. I've learned a lot about. I have a question about replacing steel casement windows in concrete walls in a basement. There's no wood studs to secure the window to. Would you recommend using masonry screws to secure the window, or build a wood frame and screwing it to the wood?

I'd suggest masonry screws for sure. Introducing wood will create issues down the road.

When we do a flashing across the bottom of the door we make our own out of aluminum metal. If you do not have access to create a flashing, be sure to use a ton of sealant all over the bottom of the opening.

Question.... On stucco like we have here in Phoenix area.... Do you guys do a FLUSH FIN install and not bother the stucco or do you perform a FULL install by doing a cut out of the original stucco and aluminum frame to install new window?

We prefer to do a full frame replacement, even in stucco. I have a video coming out on Sunday that describes both methods and why we prefer one over the other. Keep an eye out for it.

Your videos are really helpful. I've watched the other video about flashing, but I still don't understand how the metal flashing on top is done. There is sealant applied to the edge of the outer sheathing? I would assume the metal flashing has a lip that goes between the sheathing and the waterproofing layer, Where is the screw fasten? What is the profile of the metal flashing?

Thank you for watching and your question. You apply caulking liberally to the back of the flashing and put three or four screws through it into the framing above the window. Then apply caulking on top of it before you insert your window.

Thank you for watching and your question. From my experience, the window industry is not seasonal in any way. We do not get any discounts from our manufacturers based on what time of the year we purchase our windows. I am guessing, that if you could find a discount, it might be at the end of the year when someone is trying to increase their yearly numbers somewhat. What you have to understand, in most cases, the net margin of profit on window projects is somewhere between 10 and 15%. Having those kind of margins, it's not typical to get an extra 10% savings because the company would not be making any money whatsoever under those conditions.
