I was skeptical because I had already set my laptop's "plugged in" setting to never turn off the screen (this involves external monitors). But my screen would flicker off after a few seconds over and over. So I ran the Advanced power settings-->PCI Express, turned off both monitor settings and rebooted. That seems to have worked! I don't know if MS did some update that started causing this, but I hope this solves the problem.

Curious if you have a process for diagnosing the cause of the "random black screen" symptom? This one-size-fits-all approach didn't seem to address my problem. I tried your steps, but my computer says there is no newer monitor driver available, and PCIe Link State Power Management was already off (yet I still have an intermittent black screen). When mine does that, you can hear youtube videos for example, but if you connect / disconnect a USB port, then it won't make a sound, it's like the OS just freezes.

To help others that didnt get the problem fixed: In my case it was Ram issues, it worked with only 1 Ram Stick but not with 2, so I decide to try 4 Ramsticks and it worked, Im not suggesting to buy extra Ram but to check your Ram, there are also ways to clean your Ram and stuff, this also fixes it

I have 3 Koorui 24E4 gaming monitors. I use 5760 x 1080 and do a three screen flight simulator. One of my monitors kept going black for a few seconds and then comes back on. I returned the monitor and it took a few weeks to get the new one that came today. New one is doing the same thing !!! Not as bad as other one, but still. I cannot find any drivers for these monitors but the other two do not have this problem. Now to top it off, I get no sound, and when I unplug the power, sound comes back on again. The other monitor I returned did not do this, why in the world would a power supply make Your sound go off ????? I was not able to fix the black screen as no drivers were available.
