It's actually a good practice to reinstall your Windows machine once a year. Since Windows is the most used OS, and thus there is quite much Malware circulating around that could bother your system or compromise your system. Using Linux though, is also a very good practice, since there isnt that much malware because it's not used as much and you have generally much more control over your system. Unfortunately, Linux is not the best option for everyone, especially not for gamers or people that are not as tech savvy. I know that Ubuntu has become very user friendly in recent years, and I use it too on my Laptop for university or Work related stuff, and I am also aware of using virtual Machines for programs that are not supported on Linux, but there are for example still some issues, especially for gamers: valorant for example simply wont Work in vms, Games Work better when being Run natively and the missing Support from Nvidia for Linux (drivers and stuff) is pure insanity. But using Linux is the best way, to make things better and through more people using it, it could eventually get more support from big Tech companies Like Riot Games or Nvidia.

Problem is I don't believe it to do a clean enough install
@Michael-uo4jj19 күн бұрын
there has been a built in repair in windows for years just people didn't know it existed because you have to use the command line. i believe it was even in windows 7 could be even farther back but idk i got into PC's at that time. i even just used the repair command and it fetched the corrupted files fixed drivers without reinstalling anything.

I switch to Linux a long time ago. But my laptops have installed Win11. A lot of issues is still inside Win11. I remember 3 mostly: 1. Very slow and long updates even with optical cable. 2. Changing themes to dark will not change all windows(Some windows are still light themed.) 3. Nobody fix users suggestions / issues. Even with payed product. A big shame for M...osoft.

Or you could just do an In-Place upgrade that repairs system files and keep all of your apps and personal files.

Conversely, my Windows 10 system is stable despite a series of upgrades and in-place "fresh" installs plus partial restores going back to Windows 3.0. Last install from media was going from XP x64 to 7, which had no proper upgrade path. My only current issue is due to overclocking: my AVX multiplier is set too high and, because it _very rarely_ causes problems, I've been too lazy to dial it in. Think I'll work on that today, actually.

I use 10 and haven't reinstalled in many years. When my hard drive showed signs of failing, I bought an SSD, cloned the hard drive, and then replaced it with the SSD. It's been working fine the last couple of years. I don't even reboot the computer more than once every few months. The memory eventually gags if I have a bunch of programs running at the same time, have close to a hundred browser tabs open, play music, and download files simultaneously. Then I have to save everything, close everything, and completely shut down and start back up fresh. 10 just works well for me.
@CasualTS9 ай бұрын
People like to joke about how bad Windows is, but if you've run other OSes you know better. I used to run Ubuntu. About every 6 months it would fill up the hard drive completely with update files and then refuse to do anything until I painstakingly found them all and deleted them.

Man here's hoping this actually works. Gonna save a LOT of headaches if it does! Personally my go to method of managing my Windows OS is isolating it on a small SSD that's easy to make images of to restore from. The software I use that I've had the best experience with is Aoemei Backupper, though there still can be complications if you aren't tech savvy.

Bcuz i used kali most of the times i had to restart a bunch and changing clock frequencies or hardlining them can cause issues in the os.
