Question. I've been thinking of dual booting for my next PC build (won't fully switch to Linux because I need to run CAD for school) What GPU do you use? I'm hesitant to switch to Linux because my next build is specced out with an Nvidia GPU (since they cost the same as AMD GPUs here)
@nskyreАй бұрын
@@xXx_Oshino_xXx theres not really a difference with nvidia or amd on linux. amd has open source drivers, while nvidia doesnt. the amount of hate nvidia gets from the linux community is because of that. if you dont want to use closed source software, then use the unofficial open source drivers (that are somewhat worse)
@nelliocalypseАй бұрын
@xXx_Oshino_xXx start with linux mint 22. Easy to use..Has a driver manager that brings up current nvidia drivers. Click on the one you want and you are good to go. I also dual boot with windows for only a few things.

@@xXx_Oshino_xXx nvidia works fine if it's set up correctly. I highly recommend using Bazzite, an extremely beginner-friendly distro which comes with all the necessary drivers and configuration already done for you. I know laptops come with bloatware, but even then, using 50% of cpu at idle seems impossible, unless the windows installs drivers, does updates, scans for viruses, or whatever it thinks it needs.

Holy sh*t Crimson Tech speaks 🗣🗣🗣🔊🔊🔊 IMO the overall trend is that Microsoft is just very clumsy at modernizing their OSes, and right now doing form over function when it didn't _have_ to be this way. I think if they thought about it a little longer, you can make it look more modern but still be as useable. Instead, they shoved the UI changes out the window fast and loose, causing things like two right click menus and two control panels and interfaces. For example, the mouse settings to disable mouse accel looks pretty much like it did in Windows 2000, and the menu to change pointer appearance is the same as Windows 95. The UI of these settings are incredibly incohesive UIs compared to the rest of W11's modern settings UI that just makes it all look so clumsily put together. People can say what they will about macOS, but even when it retains UI elements for multiple releases or years, it _still_ ends up looking relatively cohesive to the rest of the OS for the most part. I can't say that for the Control Panel and the separate Settings app on W11 which looks like sh*t when you put both side-by-side and realize they're part of the exact same OS and version, though that's just my 2c.
@crimsontechytАй бұрын
YEAAA 😎😎🤙🏻 The overall feeling Windows 11 gives off is just **rushed**. Whoever decided that Windows 10 wasn't going to be the last windows version, wanted a replacement FAST. Honesty, I don't see any additional options present in the old right click menu, and I haven't used it for a long time. You can turn easily off the Start menu recommendations and suggestions in settings. I have two computers, and none of them have the Show Desktop issue that you are facing. They work every time on the first try for me. I am not a fanboy of Windows 11. And I hate Linux too.
@crimsontechytАй бұрын
It's a big pain when you have a bunch of context menu shortcuts (i.e. extract with winrar, open with vscode, etc.) The show desktop issue only happens if you quickly flick to it, which could be done with W10 without issue. The main issue is the inconsistency 🥲
@kaittyАй бұрын
The old right click menu has 2 significant options that I use relatively frequently. "Send to" and The AMD Software shortcut. neither of these options are present in the new menu, plus 7zip still hasn't been updated to support the new context menu. Edit: The AMD control panel was added to the new context menu at some point
@yofukashino_Ай бұрын
"You can turn easily off the Start menu recommendations and suggestions in settings." then it shows recent apps. explorer patcher is used to counter that but then again Microsoft labels it as malware sometimes (its not). its not about being fanboy of windows or hater of linux. things should be simple enough that a dumb person who arent into tech can easily get stuff without having to ask their friends for how to guide. i totally get that they needed to mordenise their design but that doesn't mean they needed to make extra menu. you can skin / make ports for old menus. make apis to get items from old into new. Microsoft just wants money not user comfort and that's the point. they are adding things that looks flashy and normal user wouldn't look at it coz they had been using windows for decade and also who got the time, linux isn't the answer but an option. for windows users I would say atlas os or similar stuff is important (don't remove defender tho)

I think windows 11 is good. Let me go over your reasons and give a counter argument: Reason #1 (battery): Battery indicator exists right there where you showed it. Surely not a massive deal? I personally don't own a windows laptop, just a desktop, maybe I am ignorant. Is it not possible to see the battery percentage when clicking on the battery/sound/wifi icon? Reason #2 (right click): The simplified works well. With windows 10 after a while you had 20 different buttons for every file because every app created their own shortcut in the menu. Icons work well enough in my opinion. In traffic you also see only icons, because text is language dependent! Reason #3 (ads): Yes, fair point. Ads suck. I personally have not encountered them. I wonder whether its a US vs EU thing, have you (nederland wheeey) actually seen it yourself? Reason #4 (office): Again, have not encountered this. I am quite sure that you can use the Microsoft 365 page to download Microsoft Office even if you are not subscribed to Microsoft 365. Again, not sure. Fair point if it's actually this hard. Not really a Windows problem though! Reason #5 (identity/old design): Settings look MacOS'y, no they don't! I do not see a resemblance, apart from having buttons on the left and on the right. Only good thing is the UI on windows is snappy while the UI on macos takes seconds to load (M3 pro max). Settings that are infrequently used still use the old settings page, that is quite common for any windows version. In my opinion that is better than for example MacOS where a lot of the features do not even exist (like the mouse is considered the same as a touchpad for many things???). Reason #6 (Broken desktop button): It's really not THAT broken, I've never noticed it not work lol. Reason #7 (installation): Fair point, I don't mind. All OS's have their ups and downs. Windows 11 is in my opinion the prettiest version. Since the updated to the settings page I think its also the most usable at the moment. It has it's flaws, just as MacOS and Linux distro's have their faults.

It's funny how some people keep insisting Windows 11 is bad when it genuinely isn't. If you're on relatively new hardware (which Windows 11 is meant for), you shouldn't be having any issues. As someone who runs an electronics store (that sells devices, but also does repairs), I regularly work with Windows 11, have it installed on my own computers and while I will concur that Windows 10 is the better option for some devices, the Windows 11 hate is generally unwarranted. Microsoft broke the Good/Bad/Good/Bad cycle (it starts before these, but, XP [Good], Vista [Bad], 7 [Good], 8 [Bad], etc.) but some individuals are acting as though it's business as usual. 🤦♂

In what ways? Gay people that I have met tend to be empathetic and respect others, while Microsoft sees you as a puzzle to extract money from.

I don't see the problem. I have been in the preview program since Windows 11 came out, and I never had an issue with it. Windows 10 support is ending soon, which means WIndows 10 drivers for your devices is also going to be ending at some point, so you're going to have to upgrade. It would really suck for you if you load your favorite game one day, only to get a popup telling you that you need the latest video drivers, but the latest drivers require Windows 11. I have never once seen an ad in Windows 11. I think you must have bloatware installed by your PC maker serving ads. You have to delete all that crap from your system.

Yeah some manufacturers remove all ads and install some useful apps before selling it to you.
