if I buy a candy do I own it after I ate it? No. When I was buying it I knew that the product is "borrowed" and will "expire". Buy does not imply own. You did agree to the terms and licence. @ChocoHasFUN9 ай бұрын
@@mikcu7531 If you buy food, the company/store can't steal it back from you. You own the food, until life itself decides it's no longer good to consume or has been consumed. You buy a movie/game/"offline" service online with DRM and the service shuts down, you can't view the contents of the movie/service nor download or even play the game in some cases because it needs authentication with a server that no longer exists, even if all the data literally exists on your own computer. Food has an organic limit that can be mitigated to an extent. Digital media, with DRM, has an arbitrary limit set by companies on how long it lasts. Both say you "buy" the product. The argument you're using here is comparing apples to oranges. Food will organically degrade/perish, such is life itself. Digital media meanwhile can be replicated and stored indefinitely without "using it up". But DRM allows companies to bullshit people into losing access to content or "offline" services that was paid for because "there's a license" arbitrarily set in place. Robbing a store means the store literally loses a sale as it's one less product that they now have in store. Pirating a movie/game/"offline" service digitally does nothing as digital media can be infinitely replicated. The only thing the company loses is someone not paying for one reason or another, they don't even lose something physical! If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing. It's copyright infringement. That said, some people rightfully need to pirate too! Money, availability, living in authoritarian regimes. Live in Venezuela? Good luck buying anything as inflation is staggeringly high over there. Buying anything takes up a literal salary. Live in Russia? You don't have access to outside content at all. Live in Canada? Can't watch HBO MAX nor any of Universal's content. What do you even do at that point, not pirate and let companies steamroll you because you just so happen to live in a place they don't service? Not pirate and literally not be able to access anything or use the services that certain jobs require from you? Not pirate and let all the things you bought be turned to dust? Thus is why the statement is not a stupid argument. These companies are just ass hats that won't change until a governing body does something... and even then they lobby against getting chased by the governments so sometimes changes can't even be effected then. And that's assuming the governing bodies are even going to listen to the people at all. No matter how you look at it, the statement still holds true under any amount of scrutiny.

Even a windows-like environment like Linux Mint Cinamon, supposedly the best for learning Linux after Windows, still has its holes, e.g. If I want to have Java installed, I have to take out the console and know what to type, whereas on Windows it was enough to enter "Java download" in the web browser and after clicking one link and downloading one program, we could install it immediately. There is no environment so comfortable and intuitive that a lady from a vegetable shop, a student from an art school or a truck driver could interact 1:1 without the need to acquire specialized knowledge, an environment in which you will have to use the console to the same extent as an average citizen uses CMD in Windows, so that the lady who passed you today with her dog, the bus driver, or that older gentleman, a retired designer, could use it and not notice any difference that he is no longer on Windows.

Microsoft dont care about a system's integrity, they never have. Else they would have fixed issues like Windows shitting itself every year or so because of failed Updates and because of legacy Code that is so old it is older than 99.9% of PCs currently in use. Plus, there is other ways to ensure a system's integrity that dont involve some arbitrary hardwareconstraint. They dont care about your PC or mine or anyone watching this video, all they care about is profits. A Tip for all: Most Linux-Didtros have a Live-System, means you can test it without installing.

I used that. It's a great idea.

the whole pricing garbage is true bullccrap! they didnt do this with any other windows OS, so why the heck are they doing it for Windows 10?!?

I have a few older computers on Linux, and I also emulate Windows. Im looking at upgrading PCs, and am figuring out how to dual boot Windows (10) and a distro called Neon KDE

Always wondered how manufacturers coordinate planned obsolescence between hardware and OS (even software providers for that matter). I'm guessing there's a social engineering aspect involved also. I'm just beginning to see how...

All planned in the 1920s by Count Richard Nikolaus Eijiro, real father of Musk, known as Kalergi Plan. The stepfather from South Africa raised the controlled-opposition fake 'hero' of Big Tech because the real father already had 'one foot in the grave' when he knocked up the mom who's looking more like Cruella DeVille than a 'supermodel' lately. It's a hidden self-styled Aristocracy of crime families whose repeated intramarriages 'keep the L○○T in the family' but result in massive inbreeding that renders psychopathy a dominant genetic trait amongst themselves.

You can "upgrade" windows 10 to windows 11 - what you can't do is the friendly upgrade - you need to install windows 11 over windows 10. BTW, since started using windows 11 I had to do the change of default browser manually. I think earlier it was also not possible to change the default browser automatically so Chrome, for instance, showed a simple instruction about how to change the default browser. I'm a fan o Linux and I have proposed to a company I was helping that they should switch to Linux but there was a huge problem: they are addicted to MS Office. I use both but mostly Windows because ... well ... I like to game. BTW, the community support for Linux is much better than the one for Windows: for Linux we can find solutions but for windows all we find is those top collaborators suggesting a clean reinstall to solve the simplest of problems.

I switched to Linux about 5 years ago and prefer it so much. I have one system that I need to run Windows 10 so I can run a piece of software which wont run on Linux so use it to play some offline games as well. I wont go back to using Windows as my daily driver.

I’m just leaving tpm 2.0 off and if everyone pushes back they may back off Windows 10 users from upgrading.

yeah, i have considered changing to linux, the only thing holding me back is some software that only runs on windows....what i would probably do if windows gets too annoying is have a main linux machine and have a secondary windows system

4:03 This subscription is for security updates. Says so in that article screenshot. It's nothing new. They did the same thing for Windows 7 support. Some businesses didn't want to upgrade beyond 7, for whatever reason, but they still wanted security updates. It's understandable why they're charging money but the pricing is ridiculous!

In other words, this video is a bit of fearmongering. The subscription is largely aimed at corporations.

This is why my one surviving windows PC has been authenticated via a self referencing authentication server. If I could just get my last couple of windows proprietary programs for my CNC to work with Linux and the couple of games that wine simply refuses to play I'd finally kick Windows to the curb. Every time I turn around though it seems something else comes along that I have to keep at least one PC with Microsoft's abomination installed.

The lengths Microsoft goes to in order to bait, trick, or force their customers to "upgrade" says a lot about the quality and attractivity of their products. Windows 7 was the best OS I ever used. It is just amazing how much worse it gets with every release since then. The sad thing is that Linux distros are also getting worse. The fundamental problems with hardware support and compatibility will never be solved and the software gets more bloated and complicated all the time. I used Linux a lot before I switched to Windows 7 and there is not a lot enticing me to go back now, although Microsoft might force me to.

Maybe Microsoft holding Windows 10 at ransom will be the thing that drives more people to Linux. It will for me.
