Have you ridden the trails at Windrock Offroad park in TN? Tell us how you liked it here!

Those flashing lights would have driven me insane. I would have taken a pair of side cutters to the cable at the first stop.
@TheBeatenTrail Жыл бұрын
I feel the exact same way. Good for fog, snow, night, but not up close.
@deliveryguy012 жыл бұрын
Just curious if those chase lights in front of you ever got annoying looking at them all day?
@TheBeatenTrail2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are, and if I’m right behind them they’re off but they’re good for rain and fog and dust and all that but certainly not up close. This video along with others people have said yeah it’s annoying for up close it’s not needed.
@LawnJockey0072 жыл бұрын
It would seem the guys whip lights would be enough. Last time we rode the guy behind me had a blinking turned on on the front of his machine and it bothered me just looking I the mirror. I couldn't follow that all day.
@MrMrsregor2 жыл бұрын
YES, just like people that use emergency/hazard flasher lights when driving in the rain .!. everyone knows it's raining, that's not an emergency or hazard, and they will have no way to let others know when an actual emergency or hazard arises

Great video, brings back memories. I first rode there, down from Michigan, in early 2002. Only the south side of 116 was mapped, at the time. We fell in love with the place right away. We made 30 trips there, over the next 3 years. In 2003, I had more time on the mountain, than anyone. We rode with the club down there, rode with our buddy Wayne, and Manuel who was a coal miner and lived a few hundred feet from the parking lot. It was all primitive then, so we parked our motorhome in the parking lot at the base of the mountain, then the new lot down by the fork in the road. I put 8000 miles on my Scrambler, til I broke the frame, lol... then on my Polaris Predator. I rode every trail in there on it. We explored the north side of 116, before it was mapped, and when we finally stopped riding there, we were 50 miles from the lot riding new trails. It was some of the very best times, I've ever had. I wonder how different it is now, there weren't any big machines riding there back then.. thanks for the video!!

I’ve been down in the area, but still have not been able to ride more of Windrock and we hope to have a full team to go out there and explore more. Although it was a very crazy day for this video, since then I fallen in love with more of Tennessee, including TackettCreek and Royal Blue to name a few. I hope to get down and ride some more this year.

While "Get there early" is good advice, there are plenty of short loop trails you can explore, both easy and intermediate. So even if you do get there late, don't hesitate to take a short trip. Don't let the dropping temperatures catch you unprepared. In the fall the temperature drops right around sunset a good deal more quickly that you would expect. If you are close enough to ride there often, consider getting the TWRA pass (around $77/yr if I remember correctly). Flanking Wind Rock Park's 72k acres to the North & West is another 140k acres you can explore with the TWRA pass. I think its definitely worth the money, but don't expect as many trails as in Wind Rock Park, nor as well maintained. They give you a lot more to explore.
@TheBeatenTrail2 жыл бұрын
We will have to look into the TWRA pass, I need to work out logistics for a team to ride there, but hopefully sometime in 2022. Thank you for the input, yes, it was a bit of a last minute ride there, so better planning would have been idea, and the weather - well, we were prepared, but not enough it seems. A good experience regardless and one we won't ever forget!

Just casually going down trail 16 at the start of your journey.... 😂 Pretty sure that's a double black now, but even when it was a black diamond it was tough with those huge ruts... especially on a Polaris sportsman 450

Yes, well, it was a bit of an ad-hoc day - let's go get lost in Wind Rock. We had been to Durhamtown, GA and Carolina ADv world and we wanted to drive back north for a quick TN stop. Just one of those days we spent 8 hours on one trail and just missed the tornadoes! Sloppy, but fun.

We saw only a few people., was rainy. We teamed up with the Wildcat we towed back, assisted. Only saw 2 others in lot, but it was mid-week. We had done the shoot for Carolina Adv World, Durhamtown, GA, then Windrock. Not enough time to see it all, but get some riding into all locations. Rainy, but temps dropped down into 45ish, so it was wet and cold at night.
