Just had an interesting thought on Summerhall: what if Egg, who was consumed with prophecy at this point in his life, learned that in order to hatch dragons he needed to perform a blood magic ritual, and Summerhall WAS that ritual: he was sacrificing a portion of his own family without telling anyone by trapping them and burning down the place. Dunk realizes his plan at the last second and saved Aerys and Rhaella, who were key sacrifices in Egg's plan, thus thwarting the ritual. So Dunk's final act of heroism was actually a betrayal of Egg, and the reason dragons were not successfully hatched. Would be a crazy end to their story. Also, maybe the ritual unintentionally still worked in some capacity, and ended up STILL "hatching" a "dragon" in the birth of Rheagar: the ritual imbued him with magical, prophetic properties that allows the Prince that was Promised prophecy to be fulfilled.

i think all that is right except there’s also a scenario where Egg was trying to kill himself as part of the sacrifice, with the intention being to hatch a dragon for Rhaegar or Rhaegar’s eventual son

I think both Aerion Brightflame and the Mad King was right. Humans can become dragons. I think that's what happened to Laena Velaryon for example. I think dragonriders are a form of skinchangers and that they live a second life inside their dragon. In the book, Laena tries to reach Vaegar. It is very similar to Rob and Jon saying the names of their wolves in their moment of death. In the show, when Laena looked Vaegar in the eye and then was burned, it was even more hevely implied. It also mirrors the Targaryen funeral rite. I think this can also happen with dragon eggs. Daenerys bonded with Drogon even before he hatched. So perhaps the people who was sacrificed in the ritual at Summerhall, are now trapped in the eggs. Egg is now an egg.

Not to mention the symbolism involved in an ice wight (ned) and a fire wight (Jon) to sing their song with their blades (ice and dawn) Obviously I’m not as good a writer as GRRM, but imagine it would go something like: “and then he knew it was over, Dawn lay broken feet away, barely a glimmer shining off its blade. All Jon could do was wait for the night king to finish it. But something changed, suddenly a large great sword blocked Jon’s vision, he had seen this blade many times in his youth, in a previous life, it was ice. At that moment Dawn shone so brightly it appears to burst into flames, growing brighter as Jon reaches for it, as he wrapped his hand on the hilt it felt warm, Jon rises up, dawn in hand and turns to face his foe, he only know one man to wield that sword, and the bones still looked fresh. With a shout Jon plunged dawn through the corpse of Eddard stark and into the night king who couldn’t see it coming”

Brienne and Pod are another Dunk/Egg, Sandor/Arya paring. I wonder if Brienne will "hold the door" in Stoneheart's cave so Jamie can escape the Other like Brotherhood. Maybe after Brienne stabs Stoneheart. Then she would act as a Last Hero with a flaming sword fighting alone against the Others. Also in Jamie's dream Brienne offers to help Jamie up over the ledge so he can escape the cave. She is also the one defending him at the end of the dream from the Others like Kingsguard. It would be a tragic Knightly death for Brienne. "In this light she could almost be a beauty, in this light she could almost be a Knight"

I'm personally hoping that the big delay is George working on both Winds and Dream of Spring at the same time, probably focusing on Winds, but when he gets an idea for Spring he probably writes it. In practically every interview I've seen with George in the last 10 years, he's seemed _well_ aware of his age, and years left on this earth. I have to imagine it is incredibly important to him to finish his story, and give fans the true ending, not that hbo bs that dropped every ball George was juggling.

Brienne has a 'Whent' shield that Jaime took from Harrenhall that was probably actually Lyanna's repainted Knight of the Laughing Tree shield, but she repaints it again like Dunk's shield, bc she didn't know what sigil to use and then remembers a pretty shield from her Father's hall at Tarth; which is great bc Dunk (with Aeg's help) just made up that sigil on the spot under the exact same circumstances ♥️

Tyrion could definitely be a chimera! I always loved that one, bc it is centered on Joanna's throuple'y relationship with TPOD (The unnamed Princess Of Dorne). This would make Tyrion the result of Aerys' and Tywin's seeds fighting for primacy in Joanna's woom. Cersei and Jaime are definitely Aerys', It is known, LOL😜 If Tyrion is not a chimera, I also like the idea that Tywin has a narrow urethra, and none of his kids are actually his (just like Bobby Hill is really Bill Dautereve's, hahaha) 😜🤣

Something that's been on my mind: I'm no expert, but I do watch a lot of your videos and like learning more about the World of Ice and Fire. That being said, I find it interesting that even though the children of the forest are more elvish than anything, they are referred to as "children". Probably because it's the humans, or the first men, who came up with that name, and didn't know what else to call them. George has talked about putting unicorns in The Winds of Winter, but they are probably going to be massive goats with one horn. There seems to be a trend on naming things wrongly... or at least in such a way to hide what they truly are. With that being said I've always thought the term Green Men was kinda funny. Why are the crannogman not called Green Men, and are the First Men and Green Men the same or different. I tend to lean towards them being different, or at least Green Men being a subclass of the First Men. I recently watch a video of "The disputed lands," and she brought up that Garth the Green had green hands, and that maybe the Weirwoods used to have green hand-like leaves before whatever happened, happened. I think the most plausible explanation is that whatever happened on the God's Eye during The Pact is what made the Weirwood turn ash white, and bare red leaves. With all that out of the way, what if Green Men were Ents? And what if the Pact was the Green Men planting themselves to achieve immortality, and the Children are the gardeners who watch over them, and are allowed to link up with the new found Weirwoods to also be granted immortality. I don't know, other races do exists, and there is evidence that most races are still around somewhere on Planetos, presently, but Green Men are weirdly absent. Just a thought. Love the videos. so yeah I agree with a lot of this, the more I look at the green men through symbolism and such, the more they seem like tree people straight up. they definitely seem to be the original spirits of the trees, whereas the children are like the caretakers, exactly. I believe that the pact is something that happened during the long night, and yes it would have been around this time that the weirwoods would have been altered. check out my timeline heresies series!

I just realised that if Cersei is pregnant again after Tommen is killed and Myrcella (commits suicide?), this could be a moment for Cersei to internally “disprove” her prophecy. I’m reading Memory Sorrow & Thorn right now and I can’t help but see a bunch of elements from MS&T combined to rhyme with Hodor’s whole situation. There’s one character who remains behind to defend a choke point so others can flee, and another character who was once a great and noble knight but is reduced to a hulking oaf with immense physical capabilities. It’s beyond coincidence how many similarities the two series share, and it’s wonderful.

Coldhands is always super intriguing. he is def associated with the original long night some how, potentially the only survivor of the 12. My memory is a little hazy but I’m sure you have a theory about AA & bloodstone emperor being the same person - along with some sort of good and bad brother situation (one had the dark meteor sword the other had the whiter sword). My lil bit tinfoily theory on Coldhands is that he could be the ‘good’ brother who has been left wandering and protecting the frozen north for millennia as his own form of penance for not being able prevent his brother from starting the long night? I'm not sure what it means, or if I think too much of it, but if Ned's head is stuck in/on the neck, that's where you would expect to find a head that's alive. Instead we want the head to be in the crypt, where dead heads are supposed to go. Does this signify some sort of life/undeath? I don't think Ned's a zombi, but the symbolism is there.

Dunno if this has ever been discussed, but is there a possibility that Littlefinger could come into contact with Lady Stoneheart? If she were to learn that he killed her sister, and I'm kinda liking the idea that Arya could discover her first while possibly joining together for revenge missions. Maybe Lf could be abducted especially now that we know that Brienne has encountered her and maybe she and Arya could find Sansa together. Brienne and Arya could take Baelish by force and perhaps he'd be executed in front of Stoneheart rather than at Winterfell. Oh and yes, somehow maybe Sandor can also be a part of it too not to mention Arya's wolfpack!

Mance has been trying to get in the crypts, maybe the sword is with Lyanna in her tomb for now. Robert said she deserved more than darkness…and the sun should be above her….still think Arthur and Lyanna would have fallen in love after Rhaegars true personality was finally revealed to them… unrelated the Mander river ends so close to Kings Landing, though only shallow boats to Bitterbridge… but if Eurons move after HT is KL he could probably take that route quickly.

I cant remember all of the details and examples that made me think about or notice this but regarding Jamie, I think theres potential foreshadowing for him ending up in the nights watch. On one of many re-reads I picked up on a range of poignant things about him which stood out to me as being symbolism relating him to the nights watch. Again i cant remember what off the top of my head but things in the same space as, for example how in one of Catelyns first chalters it opens with "her heart felt as though it were turning to stone". That type of stuff for Jamie only with "Black", "Crow", "Watcher" and "Brotherhood" symbolism. Read his chapters with this in mind and maybe youll see what I mean. In his intro Qorin is also described as having learned to be "even deadlier with a sword with his left hand after losing use of his right". Jamie in the watch could align with his ark for honor etc, as well as unite some of his Azor Ahai symbolism. . . Just a thought. I know its out there 😊

Imagine Mr. Martin Just decides to Put the 5 years gap after twow so that the Long night brings Ruin to the world for 5 years but If thats the Case itight be better to instead shorten the skip Also i Always asked myself why He let the 5 years gap Go Is it because it was too Long? Why Not shorten it Just enough to that Events Play Out as they should and the characters age Just enough Was ist because He couldnt handle describing whats been Happening for the Last 1-5 years? I think characters that actually fulfill prophecies are unaware of the prophecy. It seems like when people try to fulfill a prophecy, they get it wrong (which still could help the prophecy in the end, like Rheagar thinking his first son is the prince that was promised still helped the prophecy by driving Dany out of her home, leading her to become the person she needs to be to fulfill the prophecy, and by fathering Jon). I think to fulfill, they have to be somewhat unaware of the prophecy, at least until they’re already on the path to the endgame.

Not sure if that's what you eluded to, but the way you put it here, it almost sounds like Jon's vision atop the wall could be a metaphor/foreshadowing of Jon's inner fire battling the ice magic taking over his conciousness.

Now that I think of it, what if the wall itself is a metaphor for the frozen weirwood net, mirrored by the wights climbing it. Then Jon's frozen armor could be implying Azor Ahai has some of the great Other in him, but powered by R'hlor he now returns to cleanse the weirwoodnet and set things right. Thus ending the long night and making the Night's Watch obsolete.

Have you ever heard of the strange twist on the azor ahai phrophecy? That it was Rhaegar who was the true heir, Lyanna was Nissa Nissa and Jon is Lightbringer? Granted it doesn't go with the popular theories but I feel like they go with the obvious hero tropes that the books like to subvert. Azor Ahai already has strong similarities with King Arthur and Excalibur, and we can see it with lyanna, since Lyanna is always associated with blue and could represent "the lady of he lake" (and possibly guinevere in some versions) that gives Arthur excalibur. The Night's Watch already has a line about them being a "sword in the darkness". We know how GRRM likes to play with tropes and expectations and how phrophecies dont usually turn out how you want them to, so imagine that the big savior so many characters have been looking and hyping for already came and went with no one really noticing because the timing didn't match up to what they thought it would. It's why the Melisandre's visions can't show her Azor Ahai flat out despite her talent, the magic being at a high point or her optimal location, but when she prays for a glimpse of him it shows her Snow, the main identifyer of the saviour.

I think TWOW will begin and end the long night. I think most or at least half of the story will be the long night, then ADOS will be the scouring of the shire. It goes from the title starting with an indefinite article, 'a,' to starting with a definite article, "the." It's the only book in the series that starts with a definite article, which kind of makes it seem like it's going to be the one with the big event we're all thinking about. That is, the rest of the books are A bunch of stuff happening, and TWOW is THE stuff happening.

You know what would be a fun game is some kinda “stump the buff” game where people call out any chapter in asiof and you have to find symbolism that matches your theories i.e. moon meteors or Nissa Nissa/nights queen, etc. I’m relistening right now and having a hard time finding a chapter WITHOUT parallels to this stuff

I think Skagos is probably definitely volcanic: Skagos means Stone, Skagosi = Stoneborn. The most important stone in terms of trade, survival, symbolism, etc. is Obsidian. We know the Wildlings used to trade obsidian to the Watch, but we've never seen a quarry, so where did they get it from? Skagos is a pretty good guess. Also, most of the islands in our world either are or were volcanic. And, finally, Hardhome isn't too far away, and if it wasn't dragon eggs that blew that place up, it was probably a volcano, right?

Personally I think the Long Night is going to fall at around the halfway point of Winds of Winter and it's going to last until 50-70% of A Dream of Spring. One, it kind of doesn't make sense for a book called Winds of Winter for said winter to only show up for the last chapter or two. Second if pretty much all of the Long Night takes place in A Dream of Spring, it isn't going to feel like much of a long night compared to the rest of the story, that was one of the many problems with the TV show. You really could have and should have done something like 8 eps out of a 10 ep season for the Long Night. Even if George has a lot of chapters where characters are mentioning "It's been a month since Arya last saw the sun" and "It's been two months since Sam last saw the sun", it's not going to have the same level of impact unless we're actually spending a good chunk of the runtime actually in the winter. Plus the Long Night should come when everyone has all these plans and goals they're working towards and just wipe all of that off the table. So my guess for the Long Night is that about halfway through Winds the meteors are going to fall. And then Winds will spend the back half establishing how everyone reacts to the chaos and the fallout, and gathering the key players who will end the long night and they'll finally have something close to a plan by the end of the book. And A Dream of Spring will have them executing that plan and whatever twists and revelations come along the way. And then the back half of ADOS will be the Scouring of the Shire as well as resolving the various character subplots, giving them send offs, and the epilogue. Dividing the Long Night into 50% of the WoW and 50-70% ADOS gives it an entire books worth of run time while not forcing the Scouring, the wrap up, and the epilogue to feel quite so crunched up.
