Seriously blown away by this video! Impressive, comprehensive, definitive, authoritative. No one can discuss the greatest Châteaux of Bordeaux like you can and do. Enjoyed the well-researched and first-hand information, insights, and recommendations that you imparted in this video. From Château Latour’s prestigious history and reputation to its exceptional terroir and geographical characteristics, winemaking style, and recommended vintages, your amount of knowledge and extent of experience are both evident and remarkable. And this particular line impressively shows the level of your expertise and intensity of your wine passion: “Their version of what’s ready to drink and mine are very, very different.”🔥🔥💯 Now that’s something! Santé, John!

I still have a singular bottle of Chateau Latour 1990 which I purchased for $125.00, at the wine shop, a very renowned wine shop on the eastern coast US. I also purchased 1 bottle of the 1990 Chateau Lafite Rothchild which I opened a few years back with my wife and homemade dinner. It was extraordinary then. I think the 1990 may have the ability to be at it it's best now. I can only say I wish I had purchased more but the owners of the shop would only sell me one of each.
@AttorneySomm2 жыл бұрын
Yes, 1990 is a phenomenal vintage for the first growths! We did a special comparison tasting of all of them last year. I did a video about the tasting. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWOTaKymp6epmrc There is no rush on the Latour. That one still has plenty of life left! 👍🍷

Good morning John! I just listened with interest your Latour review. Awesome! I learned more in a few minutes with you than reading my course work, of which I also took inspiration from you! I've two comments. I know you will likely review Lafite as well. I'm looking forward to it! But, knowing that Cheval Blanc, Ausone, Angelus, Petrus et al, are really First Growths too, would you consider those is your series as well? DRC, Meunier, other Grande Cru of Burgundy? I'm aware you could also follow on with other global leaders, but Bordeaux is Bordeaux, Burgundy is Burgundy and France is France. Secondly, I was thinking anyone likely watching your videos have little if any knowledge of how KZbin functions, from start to finish. I would think it educational on your process from choosing the title to uploading to KZbin. I say this because I hear "smash that like button and subscribe", which means something to you, but nothing to me, other than I think you're a good guy, educated enough to convey details to me. But, in a time when I am certainly aware you might obtain some sort of recognition from Google or the like, I really don't know how it works, and would like to gain that knowledge. With your presentation style, and your knowledge of the system, I think it might be fruitful for us viewers and likely for you in that we would smash the like button, hopefully to your advantage? Right now, in a subscriber, but I rarely hit like, because it's just another step, keeping me away from tasting a five wine! Just a thought. Thanks for all you do with these videos. I know you're a fellow wine geek, and I know the work you go through to make this happen for all us out here!

Thanks very much for watching and the kind feedback! Very glad you enjoy the videos! Yes, I can certainly envision for videos about other top producers as well after Lafite is done. (I have one on Biondi-Santi too). Comments like this help the video get pushed out to more people as does tapping the thumbs up button. Yes a lot goes into picking the videos, titles, thumbnails etc. and editing is the most time consuming. I choose some videos based on potential SEO scores and others because multiple people request them. Cheers!

@@ADPLANET99 Glad to hear it! I had '95 Pichon Baron a few weeks ago and it still had a slight austerity that made me think it still needs another year or two. 95s are very tricky. I've been drinking my 96s first. 96 Mouton was fabulous.
@stevenholt49362 жыл бұрын
I have never drunk a Latour, although I do have an anonymous Pauillac (untasted) that is supposed to be made from Latour vines. I used to organise wine tastings, which were done blind, and on one we had a Lafite from an off year - nobody liked it, including me and I knew what it was. This evening I am enjoying a modest '14 Beaumont. Delicious.
@AttorneySomm2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for weighing in! The Pauillac is likely Latour’s third wine. I discuss it and show the label in this video. Sounds like a compelling value from Beaumont!

graet video! whats your opinion on 96 latour for current consumption? i had the 2003 Latour a few moths back and while i thought the quality is outsatanding, i thought it needed another decade for it to be in a more seamless, harmonious and refined state.

Great video content. Question, Latour 2015 just got released in Canada Ontario for the price of $1530 cad per bottle. Knowing that it is a good vintage, don’t you think the price is too high? Is it worth to purchase for longterm hold and investments? Your insights are appreciated. Thanks
@AttorneySomm Жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! Yes, unfortunately that is terrible pricing; at least relative to the US. I see it here for $700 per bottle. Even adjusting for currency differences, the Canadian price would be $1,100 here. If you can get it for closer to the US price (or better the EU price), this one certainly is a promising wine to hold for the long term. But price is particularly important when you are looking for investment purposes. Cheers!

@@kevinma924 Looks like it is available for around $500 Euros ex duty and sales tax and for closer to $600 all in. The 06 vintage is not one I would recommend for investment, but for personal consumption this one is an interesting choice because it is far more approachable than the 05. So it is one that you could enjoy without waiting very long. It even shows well now with some extended aeration.
