Ecstatic and thrilled to see that majority of your Top 10 Wines of 2023 are Bordeaux rouge! Also very pleased that some of my guesses were correct! This is such an outstanding video that checks all the boxes: the manner of presentation is so smooth and authoritative at the same time warm, friendly, passionate, intelligent, clever, and exciting; great visual support; truly excellent choices of wines and words - brilliant descriptors and beautiful descriptions, and each wine sounds enthralling and breathtaking at epic levels, particularly the Bordeaux wines on this list. Well, you know my heart belongs to Bordeaux (Rhone second)! 😂 I wholeheartedly agree - this is the best of the best! And you know I’m not just talking about this list and the video but also about you as a wine expert, critic, writer, educator and content creator. Congratulations on this “best of the best” content, John! Santé from the land of your top favorite wines!🍷🇫🇷😊

@@AttorneySomm You’re welcome, John! You certainly have a diverse list and a diverse range - taking into account your entire top 25 list and considering all the wines you have featured on your social media accounts/channels through the years. But I’m very pleased that Bordeaux reds continue to be among your top favorites - which, for me, is a definite reflection of your impeccable and sophisticated taste! Thank you as well and hope you enjoy the rest of the holidays!

Great video, and a lot of enviable wines on your list. Old wines are amazing if you can find them. We had a nice tasting year as well. My top 5 for this year are: 5. 40 Anos Porto S. Leronardo 4. La Cumbre Syrah 2010 3. 2007 Casa E. Di Mirafiore Barolo Lazzarito 2. 1964 Faustino Gran Reserva 1. 1976 Vina Real Gran Reserva Looking forward to more videos and tasting great wines in 2024

Not quite anything to rival... I had the 05 recently which was so good. Also visited them in April last year - their attention to detail these days is so impressive - even they can fire rockets into the sky to counter hail clouds (really). The 2022 seemed a little pricey EP so I am hoping it might be more reasonably priced in bottle in due course (at least in the UK). Anyway what an unforgettable tasting in NYC - indelible memories.

Thanks. I’ve never had 1961 Gruaud Larose but about thirty years ago had the 1962 which was excellent but overshadowed by the 61. I read that the 62 is still drinking well, and is available at a far lower price.

I liked a lot the 1982 and the 1962 vintages of Gruaud-Larose: both really excellent! The 1962 should have been kept under well conditions, for sure. In cellartracker, I saw an excellent tasting note of 2021. I had the 1962 beside the 1961 about 30 years ago, and I even preferred the 1962 in front of the 1961! It had an unique charm that the 1961s don't have. But I still do have a Jeroboam of 1962 and I'm happy!🙂 P.S.: the 2022 will also be in my focus!

Having followed your channel for years now, I’m no longer shocked by the awe inspiring level of the wines on your lists. My wine of the year is probably something you popped on a random Tuesday with a box of Cheez-Its! Kidding, of course. It’s fun to see these top wines you were able to experience, but, most of all, thanks for all the very practical recommendations you provide.

I was on the edge of my seat as you were about to announced your wine of the year, just as the 1989 Montrose came across the screen, because I still have a case of the 1989 montrose left in my cellar. Since Lafite is one of my favorite wines I could live with your 1996 Lafite pick :)

Merry Christmas John. This video is great. Rioja Blanco is underrated. The only one I’ve had was the Cune Monopole Classico that I highly recommend. It’s aged in Sherry butts adding great complexity and sherry notes.

I have half a case of the 2016 Gruaud Larose. Needs another few years, obviously, before tasting. Glad you included a Rioja. I have changed my mind for the Christmas wine for tomorrow, btw: it will (definitely) be a 2012 Ardanza. Vintage Port doesn't feature much in your videos. Not a fan? I opened a 40 yo Tawny last night - superb. I love Vintage but it doesn't always love me back: I have some 1994, which is waiting for a special occasion to open the next bottle. My only experience of Lafite was a disappointing one - an off year (1973, I think) at a blind tasting I had organised. It didn't feature in anyone's top three, including mine and I knew what it was!
@AttorneySomm10 ай бұрын
Thanks! Actually two Riojas - one is just a Blanco. Sounds good re: your Christmas wine! I do enjoy vintage Port, but don't have much of it. I have one 1977 Graham's left. Tasted the other one 3 years ago. I've been to Porto and enjoyed it, but I don't get the chance to taste it very often. I have had some disappointments with Lafite as well. In fact one of my current publications on a different platform shows me dumping a corked bottle of 1999 Lafite. Very disappointing indeed. Merry Christmas! Hope you enjoy your dinner and the Rioja.

@@AttorneySomm I finished my 1977 vintage Ports (Taylor's) a long time ago - drank them too early, I think. I have a few single quinta jobbies to go at until the 2011s are ready. Yes, I noted the aged white Rioja - not an area of expertise for me. You, too have a merry Christmas. I will give you my thoughts on the Ardanza in due course. The grower Champagne (Comtesse de Bellefleur) and the 2014 Domaine de la Bon Gran, Viré Clessé have both been excellent.
