I think of Martial arts like music. They can sound differemt but are all essentially music. We just have different genres depending on the style or system. They can use similar notes and instruments but they alll follow a structure.

Ironically, I learned WingTsun from a guy who didnt care if it was WingTsun or WingChun or MuayThai. Just learned later that this wasnt the norm

I think that the chain punch and a lack of footwork hold WC back, but I do believe that we overthink how different all of these arts are. The division of Japanese martial arts into their own arts like Aikido, Judo, Karate etc have all bred this presumption that "this is the throwing art" and "this is the kicking art". There are only so many different ways the human body can move. I was talking to one of my training partners who came from Kun Khmer, which is Cambodian kickboxing, and how it's superior to Muay Thai because there are more elbows, supposedly. I think past a certain point all of this stuff starts to look the same, every civilization has its own form of wrestling, we don't say "No, you want to do Scottish wrestling because it does this which is why Indian wrestling sucks". Edit: I think the internet has really highlighted this as well, especially when it comes to "martial arts tier list" videos where people take a very broad look at a martial art, give their perspective on it in one or two sentences, then put it in C-tier. It forces a very shallow summarization of an art likely over a hundred years old.

I think that is so true, you have poor understanding of the art

Every single example shown comes from a Muay Thai plum, not free flowing like the WC Stan is trying to say. Elbows are elbows though for sure

True, the point is when there aren't any obstructions there's no flow, besides the flow in that clip is just a drill, but anyways fighting is fighting, muay thai and wing chun are very close conceptualy, only wing chun people suck at training and testing anything
