Don’t expect Yzerman to do a damn thing…ever lol. Not sure what Yzerman’s goal or desired identity is for this team. That being said, the core pieces look very solid right now, especially Seider.

I don’t think standing pat, other than trading some expiring deals at the deadline, is a bad thing. At the end of this year the contracts of Petry, Kane, Husso, Lyon, Fischer, and motte all come off the books. That’s a lot of roster spaces to play with and either bring up griffins guys who are ready or sign free agents. Unless we can add a piece to the core (which would potentially cost a ton mid season), why not wait? This team is not destined for a long playoff run should they even make it to playoffs to begin with.

Exactly. I don’t get this pressure around Detroit making the playoffs, perhaps it’s an ownership thing? They’re barely able to even handle playing the worst teams in the league, so they don’t stand a chance against any Atlantic teams
@DTA555.16 сағат бұрын
I say sell at the Deadline and forget about GR and the Calder cup and bring in the prospects that are ready so they can see what they have and if they need, to send anyone down to work on their Game? They still have options to see what other players can do. The Vets have been slow and the young teams are skating circles around the team.

@@seanr.6596don’t have many Good FAs and the Defense beyond the top two need to be the Priority. We have forwards and these prospects deserve a chance, we don’t know what we have and GR is not going to get them NHL ready, only playing in the NHL and letting them get experience and get better if SY, is saying he is building through the draft. I have always felt the accelerated add of Kasper was to see what he could do or showcase him for a possible trade if he demonstrates some capable NHL play. So far only 7 points in 27 games but he plays a good positional game, but still a manageable intangible type center as he was projected to be. Nothing flashy. I think Nate Danielson is off the list for any possible trades. Just turned 20 in September with 16 points in 28 games with GRG playing against adult men.

Kasper has been working along the boards and behind the net and his linemates are not scoring, now on the Fourth Line they have been the best line but not getting the Time on ice. He has more, but some players can’t work the same as him and he is doing the Dirty work

I did find it interesting. I was at the MSU game a few weeks ago and saw Kris Draper and Dan Cleary(I also talked to them briefly, very cool moment). I noticed they were sitting on the MSU end that they defend twice. I thought well maybe they were there for Augustine, except he wasn’t playing. Then I thought maybe they’re there for Red Savage. But why would they be sitting in the defensive end most of the game? Two of MSU’s best defensemen are Sabres draft picks. Maybe it’s nothing, I didn’t ask them anything when I talked to them. Just said hi and that I was a fan. Just something I noticed and found interesting.

With that being said SY cannot trade their 2025 first round pick. It is imperative to draft in the top 10 or top 5 and get more high end scoring at LW or a top pair type LHD for Seider.

Byram trade could actually make sense for both teams.. Zucker is Buffalo's only player over 30.. They definitely might need some vets to actually get over the hump.. Kane (50% retained), Chariot (37% retained), they dont really have a future RHD.. could add Antti Tuomisto or Anton Johansson and a 2nd to 4th round pick.. Kane at 2m is very solid value and Chariot at 3m is definitely tradable. Kane from Buffalo and Chariot from Hamilton. I'm sure they wouldn't mind playing close to home.

Clearly, RW should explore the opportunities that arise. There was no buzz about Kakko to my great disappointment 😪, the interpretation is that Rags clearly was not interested in any player in the RW organization as they should be. There is nothing in RW that Rags doesn't already have better, however, RW had cap space before S.Y. had a mental breakdown. Cozens, realistically I'm not against that idea, although it will be a package partly because RW doesn't have the cap to do a 1v1 deal. Danielson will not be included there (1v1) but maby Kasper + other things can be included. But why would Buffalo want to make themselves even younger with more young players and why would they trade down on paper here? RW does not lack average players or players with some upset if things pan out in their pipe to 150%.
@DTA555.15 сағат бұрын
I agree we need to look at Defense and not FA Forwards, if he can trade a couple Vets and say Ras or Veleno and get some NHL ready Prospects that are not getting a chance? He should do that but not at the expense of the Future. We have prospects that we know will not be making the team and package them with a vet and a 4th round pick and get the real rebuild going. He said he would build through the draft but this Coach is not giving Johansson much time and when Chiarot and Edvinson are back he will be sitting rather than playing and we don’t need young players sitting over vets who are not better. We have a fourth line that has been great and not getting any time to play while we are watching nothing better from the other lines. I think Ras should be Traded he gets points maybe 16 games out of the season and Veleno has been better lately but Kasper has been doing the board work and behind the net. He doesn’t get a chance to shoot the puck much because of the other players just throwing the puck on net or get stripped after the pass.
