There is an argument that Draisaitl is better than all of MacKinnon, Matthews and Kucherov simply due to the hard numbers (amount of 100 point seasons, 50 goal seasons, 40 goals seasons, playoff performance etc). Arguing that he is in a tier below all of these players is in my opinion much harder than arguing in favor of him being the 2nd best player in the league. You can rank them however you want, but him being a different tier is wild imo. He had better playoff numbers than McDavid before being injured at the late stages of the Vancouver series as well.

@@ronproietti6050 a goalie won’t need to out perform when the team plays better defense all around and their scoring production stays similar or better than last year. Kane full season, a better ADB, a year older Raymond, Larkin, adding Tarasenkshow and compher skating with Kaner in the offseason is all huge. Edvinsson is a major upgrade on defense and Gus plays better defense than Walman or ghostbear. Lyon can finally not play 7 games in a row. This team will be better than last years team, and all the WC teams in the Atlantic and metro got worse imo

Teams get in a signings jam because they kept winning the draft lottery. TOR and EDM both have been very fortunate going up to the top 3 of the order, thus the harder decisions later on about who to pay and what is left over in their cap to squeeze in what they can.

Back to normal amount of adds. Good. Last weeks onslaught was hopefully just some glitch. Of contracts. You mentioned Jarvis and his "7.9". I would add DeBrincat and his nearly same as minimum for Raymond. Probably earned best winger money. Upper level is Larkin. Can´t give him more so kinda narrow window there. Seider is tougher but 8.7 and an A feels about right. You mentioned McKinnon and his cheap contract and that NHLPA was not going to accept another cheap one. Now that cap is going up, does that mean lions share of it is going to few top players. That is not very beneficial for players down the lineup, whome they also represent. At least on paper.

a weird question: can the NHL now say that the phrase "hockey club" is now proprietary and noone else can use it? I have actually played in a beer league where teams had NHL names, and got a letter from an NHL lawyer to change them.

Thanks,, But I think it is serious,,what you guys are talking about that is,, I attended my first Wing,s game back in 1958,, I went to the old Forum here in Montreal,,My uncle who played for the Wings brought me and the deal was that if the Wings won I was going to meet Mr. Howe in the dressing room after the game ( my dad and uncle Jimmy owned a night club here ) Well the Wings won !! I got to meet many players that night,,Gordie gave me his game stick, signed,had 2 goals that night..The point being is that I saw the Wings slide after that,,Bad trades,,G Unger to the blues ,but the day they lost M Dionne to the Kings was the KILLER,,that all started because of hard ball contract talks,,we got a used up D man ,T Harper, tough guy D Maloney and a bag of pucks..We aslo gave up on A Oates way to early for I believe B federko ? I know I don't sound like a Wing fan but .....At any rate I enjoy the show and hopefully things start turning around in a better direction,,Did not like the Wallman move, some of the signings are not what I expected from S.Y,,maybe Holland but ..I wont go through the 4 or 5 signings I think hurt the progress of the team,,in cap space,,I also have a letter from Mr.Illitch from mid 90's after I wrote him with idea,s I had,,,I guess I,m just an old man today with many good memories and stories,,,,Former High School coach and Athletic Director of a Rehab facility for gang bangers !! Anyone putting Raymond's value on the same level as Seider or a Center of similar skill level is just wrong. Wingers, especially smaller wingers, are much, much easier to pick up than a center or defenseman. Just look what the Red Wings had to pay Copp, that's because he's a center. Compare that to how easily they were able to sign Tarasenko, a much better player, at a lower salary. Yzerman should and will stand his ground with Raymond.

They paid Copp that much at the time because they were bad. They had to overpay to get better players. Copp wouldn't get close to that now and should have been traded or bought out.

Forget about regular season stats. In the playoffs, when it matters, Mathews hasn't done what McD, Drai, Macky, Rant, Kuch, Point have done. Even Marner has more playoff pts/g than him.

These 3 free agents should stick together, let Stevie feel the HEAT,, He needs them alot more than they do,, and even when they do sign the Wings are very soft and will not make the Playoffs,,Yzerman has made to many over payments on free old gaents which is why younger guys are feeling frustrated and pissed,,He S.Y. has hurt the progress of the team with all those bad signings...Woll, Peitry, Copp. the Wallman trade, and letting Spronge go for Tarasako.. I could go on but lets tell it like it is and the Stevie FAN CLUB is not helping,,The big 2 needed to be signed yesterday... Stevie = OVER rated,,as a GM,, he gets more credit for Tampa than he should,,sort of like Holland got all the credit when it was Guys like Delvano and certainly BOWMAN !!!! The Wings may be drafting in a better spot this year as a poor finish is almost a sure bet,, Stevie needs to adapt to the New NHL and the way he deals with the young guys,,Berggren for one is not happy, understandably, Raymond is the next guy he will piss off and IF he does not settle things with the real future Seider,,well kiss the next 10 years goodbye,, keep signing old worn out middle of the pact players and stay in the picture just enough to look as if MAYBE ! draft 15th the next year and continue...same old story. The Sens or Buff. are quickly passing the Wings and the Habs are ready to move past...Yea this situation is not aging well !!!
