Machares: The Man who Bored the World He was my favorite part of this episode and I foresee Devin taking him great places. A crossover with an incarnation of the Dark Artillery Lord might actually kill me from laughing too hard.

I care not for the words and opinions of anyone else. It is FACT that Machares is the best boi and he deserves all the love of the universe for his amazing personality. He is my hero.

Scavenging through the fields of KZbin, no good content to be found in these barren wastelands, all hope is lost. Then you can see it: the light of Armenia, the light of good content, the light of hope.

----- 196 BC ------ You'd think the bloody battles with our foreign enemies would be the source of the destruction and desolation I have to see as a soldier. How wrong I was. The frigid winter season has claimed more lives than I care to remember. It's a very specific kind of horror, waking up and realizing that half of your brothers are dead, and you haven't even seen the enemy yet. We simply rushed back to our home, some of my comrades mourning the embrace of their wives as they returned, or lost the strength to turn back and froze to death in the snow. I remember a time when they would've fallen on their swords to please the king, I must admit, that dream doesn't seem quite as Radiant as it once did. I spent time with my wife, Yeva as we returned to Yervandashai. Yeva has been happily awaiting my return, lamenting how all the other wives she consorts with have already had children, and insists I give her some immediately, seeing as I'm away so much in the army. Part of me is suddenly thankful for our benevolent king. I know I will be able to return home, to her, if we are beaten..... I cannot think about the worst now. I need to keep my skills sharp, and my wife happy. Heaven knows, Yeva really does deserve it. ----- Garen, Armenian Royal Cataphract, Thunder of Artaxias ----- ----- 195 BC ----- Joining the army is easily the best thing I ever did. The king may be recovering up north, but here, I have my shot. I'm going to make something of myself. I may not be a skilled craftsman, or a farmer, and no woman may ever want me to be a wife, any idiot can kill people! This has to be the job I was born for! I have joined The Army of the Immortals, remember the name, I'm sure it will be legendary one day. My commander is the general Machares, a man who all the soldiers seem to love..... except when he talks...... and I can see why. How can a man make the energetic and adrenaline pumping activity of battle so catastrophically droll. I maybe a simple levy, but the minute that opportunity to be a true soldier comes, you bet I'll take it. I'll come home with so much money and fame that no one back home will ever take me for granted again! ----- Hayk, Armenian Levy, The Army of the Immortals ----- ---- 191 BC siege Melitene ---- I thought after the alliances in the north that I might never see battle again, but I was mistaken, indeed, it seems to have brought more war than it prevented. It is my duty as a soldier to fight for my king, as such, I am riding at his side once again. In my kings wisdom, he tried to bait them into an ambush, but our plan didn't work. We have begun our siege once again, waiting to begin storming the walls once the equipment is built. I have no fondness for sieges, even if I miss more of the fighting than most. I know we fight to free our people, as our king says, but I truly fear what the Seleucids will do when they hear how we tamper with their borders. I suppose I am more afraid to die because of my new children. My two daughters, Voski and Perchuhi clung to my legs to try to keep me from leaving, and my son, Geghard was only a year old, still at his mother's side. They hold my future, the legacy I wish to create in their hands. I must show them what a dutiful man is. Yeva prays for my return, and I pray to return to her in kind. I'm not so sure I fight for Armenia as much as I fight for those smiling faces I left there. ----- Garen, Armenian Royal Cataphract, Thunder of Artaxias ----- ---- 191 BC Siege of Amida ----- How many arrows do we have!? I swear we must've pelted them with enough arrows to kill them five times over. Meanwhile, all we got to was sit in a stuffy tower and wait until the minutes turned to hours! It had signed on years ago, and now it was my first battle, I wasn't about to spend it cooped up in a tower. I heard some of the other levies met no resistance as they got to the walls. Lucky them I suppose, but I had to fight along the walls for quite a while. It became a very crowded couple of minutes on that wall, and quite frankly, the more the battle raged on, the more I really wanted it to end. That's when we hit some bad news: The tower we wanted to go down collapsed, and the rubble blocked the stairs, so we had to run around to half the fortress just to go down to assist our men. It was a long, bloody day, I tripped over bodies quite a bit, but the feeling of victory was a high I've never felt before. It's strange that I want to fight more! C'mon! Bring the friggin' Seleucids at this point! I'm sure we can take 'em. If not, Machares can just bore them to death! ----- Hayk, Armenian Levy, The Army of the Immortals -----

One thing about artillery in this mod is that it's really inaccurate, so in a siege it's a good idea to move the artillery pieces just outside the enemy towers'/ranged units' range, and they will still keep missing half the time.

Machare's is one of the most annoying people to go up against in a siege. because he knows how the game works and statistically he is correct in his approach to volley the enemy down. but the morale of his men will lead to his downfall one day.
