Hi guys, Wonderful video, loved the drone shots. The places you stopped were very interesting, especially "Skinny Dick's"...reminded me of the "Bird House bar" that burned down in 96, they didn't have dollar bills stapled, but panties 😁 I can't say how much I enjoy your adventures, I look forward to returning for a visit to Alaska next Aug and hopefully get a chance to meet both of you in person. That said be safe and keep the adventures rolling. James

The beginning of the video really sets the mood with two minutes of unnarrated drone and handheld footage of the Revels as they push north in the vast expanses of the Alaskan wilderness. Seeing the breadth and scope of what lies before you makes this journey of yours all the more immersive. The elusive Denali really does remind me of Rainier. The two mountains like to hide, which only amplifies the feeling one has when the "Mountain is out". The drive over that bridge really shows the effect of salt on steel. It's easy to see where the salt has been thrown up on the steel and where it hasn't. You'd think in this day and age that we'd figure out a way to keep roads safe and not destroy steel in the process. And for the record, that Earth Roamer you saw pull into the parking lot of Skinny Dicks is exactly the RV I always drooled over. I saw them occasionally coming through on the Ferries in the Puget Sound and I always loved them. The problem is that they are a MILLION+ vehicle. I couldn't afford a Revel, let alone one of those beauties. That said, I'm glad that you took everyone to see that very funny and unique place even if it is nothing but one giant fire code violation. It's amazing seeing a riverboat that far inland in Alaska, especially when you get out a map and see just how long of a voyage it is from saltwater to Fairbanks. It must have been an epic journey back in the day, particularly when you think about the boats being grossly overloaded with supplies pushing north. Those riverboat captains were incredible navigators for being able to pull that off for all those years. I have to admit it's humorous to see you getting tense about being late to Ivory Mike's. It's also great watching your eye movements as you're looking around Fairbanks. There must have been some significant changes for you to key in on them as you did. The woman not knowing what a Klondike Bar was blew my mind. It never occurred to me that someone wouldn't know what they are. I love those things! I also smiled seeing the Permafrost Beards stuff in the video. I love the stuff from them that I've gotten and still use to this day. "Stories are the thing we need most in the world" couldn't be a truer line. I typically use the word "experiences", but "stories" tells the tale just as well and couldn't be more correct. It's the thing that drives us to take that next step forward on the path of life. Or, as Robin Williams quipped in "Dead Poet's Society", "What will your verse be?" The ending footage of you making Fireweed Honey was awesome because I recognized it from you showing us last time. Looks like you're making far more this time than last time. I hope it turned out well. The canning process can be a bit tricky. I have to admit that it's amazing that you take the time out of your day to share such incredible adventures with all of us. Just the thought of being able to stand at the Arctic Circle is fantastic on its own, but to push north to the Arctic Ocean is one of the many dreams I've had all my life. So, live that fantastical voyage in the north and savor every experience. You're far more fortunate than you know.

We love when we can get the drone up and show the scale of where we are. I wish weather would always cooperate with us. Those earth roamers are incredible. I don't know how anyone could afford one but those who have them are pretty lucky for sure. We always find the stories of the river boat days to be intriguing also. They travelled so far for so many years but then phased out. I think they should bring them back! Nick and his family are great and we were glad they stopped by and had dinner with us and visited at Camp Walmart. We have become pretty good friends over the last few years and are blessed to have them in our lives. Thank you for being here Brian. This week's video is going to have a much different feel to it. Look forward to hearing what you think!

I'm not sure how far ahead you are on uploading but a major hurricane is going to be causing havoc to Alaska on the west coast if you're not aware. I'm sure inland will see a lot of rain. I love the scenery. Did you pick this time of year for the meetup for a special reason like fewer bugs, people, etc. or did it just happen? Thanks
@WingsandWheelsAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Good morning John. We picked this time period for a couple reasons. We wanted to give people time to get up to Alaska and we were targeting the weather. Typically, July is one of our warmest months. June could still have snow up on the Dalton and August is rainy season. Although we got a good amount of rain this year, generally it is a pretty good month to travel through the state.

People think that one of the greatest Biblical miracles that God did was the splitting of the Sea of Reeds (Exodus). Actually, a joke says that the greatest miracle was that Moses managed to get about 600,000 Jews to do the same thing at the same time. Watching these videos makes me realize that you guys are performing a similar miracle on a smaller scale. You're getting about 20 people in 9 campers (if I counted correctly) to follow you in the Alaskan wilderness all arriving at the same stops about the same time. And, unlike the Israelites, no one is complaining! What's your secret? We want to know! Have a great safe week.
