Hi everyone! Even though my video was 19 minutes and 49 seconds in length, the video gets cut off at 17 minutes 42 seconds. I have literally no explanation as to why that is, but I'll try and get the full version working with another upload soon.

Authenticity went out the window in the fifties. Somewhere under the surface of all this criticism is the green-eyed monster. I don’t think guys like Don Henley in his seventies need to be embarrassed to sing along to the studio recordings of what 25 year old Don did fifty years ago. Whether I agree with his politics, his choice in musical expression or not, he gave himself away in some sense for music. The need to jump through hoops of Internet fetish mongers is over for him and most other accomplished artists.

in some cases 10,000 US dollars a ticket for concerts, can you imagine? I would not be able to afford such a thing, but I certainly don't want to pay to see someone lip-synching etc. my hubby plays with a local band. It is so fun, and they are really very good - even surprised me - so I will go see them and bands like them and put a donation in. Of course, I live in Mississippi - we moved from Philly - and I found that are lots of incredibly talented musicians here who have day jobs and play gigs in little shacks - literally - for fun in the evenings. Maybe it is because with no internet or even phone lines, there really isn't much else to do here.

The rap/hiphop genre addressed this at some point (because they blatantly use pre-recorded vocals and just jump in and out of vocals at whatever points they choose to) .. they claimed 'it's a stageshow/party' so the vocals are not important.. the audience is basically there to have a good time effectively partying with the artist. Something along those lines... but as a metalhead I would never pay to see something like that.. might as well just have the artist stand motionless on stage while the pre-recorded bits play in the background at that point.

It seems as though the Eagles forgot how to play their instruments and sing at the same time. I guess after they were discovered to not be singing, they tried singing and performing live and realized they couldn't. They seem to have solved their problem by using a karaoke machine.

As a retired musician that lives for listening these days, Any fan of any given artist or group has probably listened too their albums so many times that any deviation in a live set stands out. That's a good thing. If fans wanted to hear a perfect reply of a studio album, why would we pay so much to hear it in a crowd? Atmosphere? I say of course that's a major part of any gig, but we want it all! A recent costello gig was criticised in the press as he was doing "real live" stripped back versions without a full band which in lnuded some old songs. He sang live and they seemed to want him to jump around, full group, like he did 48 years ago! 😂 voices mature, people age. The late Johnny Cash's voice on "Hurt" a cover he sang within the last 12 months of his life which was great and emotional but so much deeper voice than his early songs. Guess my waffle is trying to say. "Keep it Real, Keep it live". You can love the original songs but if you don't like a new style or a voice change it's OK too. Please make sure artists don't feel pressure to be something they are not anymore. Love Live❤

ELO practically invented miming to a tape. I think a venue (possibly in Detroit if I remember correctly) sued them in the '70s. The whole show was just a tape. As I understand it the thing that gave them away was the fact that two shows on consecutive nights took the same amount of time, to the second. There are reports of Jeff Lynn and his bandmates taking liberties by openly talking to one another and joking around whilst they were supposed to be 'singing'. To be fair to them I think Jeff Lynn was frustrated back then because the technology didn't really exist for them to be able to replicate some of the sonic effects from their records when performing live, so they used a tape.
@PeteC62
@PeteC62 10 сағат бұрын
@@MostEasterlySteve I first heard Siouxsie Sioux make this claim on Peter Powell's show back in the 1980s. As Peter said then "Well they weren't miming when I saw them!" Jeff Lynne has always been open about their use of backing tracks for the special effects that would be impossible to reproduce live, but I'm not aware of anyone showing that they mimed to vocals. Even when i saw them in 1978 Jeff avoided the highest notes in the chorus of Telephone Line because he knew he couldn't reach them reliably live.

The fact that you have to EXPLAIN an X/Y graph plotting of pitch across time is a bit sad. That's something you learn in 7th grade when you learn the Cartesian coordinate system. Or that you need to explain how two graph plottings look different enough to be two different vocal events. When basically NONE of the lines match, you would think a person would understand that these are two DIFFERENT vocal events, not one recording. But good for Don actually singing for a change.

At least for the drum part, it would be easy and objective proof to determine if it is the same recording if you look at the waveform in the time axis. Even with a click track, there are slight deviations which are unique. I've done this a lot for practise purposes. You can easily see if a studio recording is done with a click track (the timing is constant) but even then, it wobbles a bit in the range of 2/100s of a second relative to the clicks. Humans are not machines.

Their whole performance is just fake. They just recorded a new fake vocal in reaction to you exposing the other one as fake. What lengths they go to to defraud their audience. Shameful. Modifying the end of the song is extremely easy because there is no instrumentation. They can just let him sing then cut and paste that final piano bit to line up with the new vocal. Don Henley is no where near capable of singing this song today. He couldn’t even sing it years ago, there were performances with auto tune live where it went haywire because he missed the notes by too much. I know because I was studying this song at the time and my friend played it for me and I was taken aback by it. They’re just losers. Plus this is one of two good songs the my wrote their entire lives. Trash writers, performers and people.
