akariayano Thank you! I'm delighted that you have enjoyed it! It has been one of my favourites ever since I was a teenager many year ago. Best wishes, Mike.

Brilliant. Thank you so much. I think this the first piano piece I ever heard when I was very small. Must have been on the radio in about 1959. Winifred and Russ were high on my grandmother's hit parade! Hearing either of these great players make me feel young again.

On this date in 1956 {Apr. 13th} Winifred Atwell's version of "The Poor People of Paris" peaked at #1 {for 3 weeks} on the United Kingdom's Singles chart. A month earlier Les Baxter's version reached #1 on America's Billboard's Best Selling chart...

Just playing that tune used up all my available coordination! Nothing left for humming!

Great stuff......this is the reason why I call you the "King Of The Keyboard"!!!

I'd always assumed it WAS a musical saw, which although I don't think really adds anything to the record, I miss it when it doesn't come in. I've seen Winnie's KZbin live version, and it is superb!

Thanks for your nice comment. I've thought about posting a 'Trudie' video, but I suspect it's already been done quite well by some other You-Tubers - perhaps you could advise?

My turn to say "Thanks, Mike"! But I don't deserve that title (especially with all the missed notes in the left hand, while I struggled with the right hand)!

Brilliant playing, how about "Trudie" 1960s piano hit, a very similar stlye of stride piano playing

OK, what about "the robins return", do you remember Neville Dickie's version

Forget the humming... what happened to the saw? Great effort Mike, must take a lot of courage to take this one on.

As Winnie's own remarkable performance is already on KZbin, I think my own posting definitely comes under the heading of "A courageous decision, Minister"! I'm puzzled by the references to a saw. Is the sound in the background of Winnie's commercial recording created by someone playing the musical saw?
