He really is genuine and cares about his product. Very "East Coast" personality and that's one of the many things we love about him. It was scary to look under there and see all those thermal hazards. Including the burn mark on the floor which is totally "Normal" and acceptable by Winnebago standards. Thank you for being here for/with us and always having positive words for us. Thank you! xo

Yay. So glad you were finally able to get rid of the archaic battery system installed by Winnebago. Progressional 0r not I’d have a little anxiety watching them rip it all out and put it back in correctly...especially since it was 14 working hrs instead of 24 working hrs. Thought as log as he is thorough and checks his work it should be ok. Oh and stands by his work :). Liked the doggie playing with the foam lol. Another wonderful video. Glad your all still safe in your travels. :) ❤️. Live confidently and peacefully

Hi Carol. We love our 2019 and have had very minor issues and in price comparison with the brand new models. Whewww. This system is worth every penny to us because the heat would most certainly have us tied to campgrounds here and in the winter, we don' t have the use of solar in Alaska...so..it will be fun to see what it takes to deplete the system. We haven't been able to yet. Personally, I think the more electronics you put into the newer models (sliding doors, etc) the more that can go wrong. Have a great day Carol.

Wow! That's all I can say. Wow! We are going to follow how the lithiums do, since as soon as our AGM's give out, we are switching to lithium too. I don't think I could watch the surgery though, too scary. Happy/cool days for Ember ahead. Jim's cooking will probably switch over to long dutch oven meals, simmering for hours, with no concern for the battery. Looking forward to seeing what he comes up with.
@WingsandWheelsAlaska3 жыл бұрын
Jim certainly has big plans for the instant pot and the long slow cooks. We hear you on waiting for the AGM's to fail completely. For us it happened around October time frame and we noticed without the tiny trickle of the solar we were having to drive and either go back to our location or find a new one. We were turning our engine on in the morning and patiently waiting for lithium to be available. We picked a shop in Anchorage to do it, but now that we've watched it we are SO happy we were able to see Aaron and one of his trained installers. Jim has made the entire van next level but only after really considering what we need and power was #1. We will be giving a 100% honest review on everything once it's been on our van for awhile. Have a great week!

Interesting video. I knew there were power limitations with your Revel, I just didn’t know to what degree. I’m glad you have been able to improve the system significantly, and that the AC unit will be able to be powered by battery alone. I know you two have dreamed about driving that thing all the way to the bottom of South America and back, and a lot of that distance happens to be through some rather arid landscapes. It’s great to see you get this upgrade and I hope it treats you well. We also learned a bit about vibrations and loose wiring. The good news is that you now know what to look for down the road to ensure that everything remains snugged up. I hope you two are having an awesome day. Take care and I hope to hear from you soon.
@WingsandWheelsAlaska3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian! YES! This was very important to us because we wanted Lithium from the very start and it wasn't an option at the time in any of the Sprinters, but now companies like Storyteller and even Winnebago finally jumped on lithium. Our concern was lithium doesn't do well in cold temps, but now that the batteries are on the inside of the van it isn't such a concern. Whoever put AGM batteries on the OUTSIDE bottom of a vehicle and then claims it to be 4 seasons....well.....you know. 😂 A YES our travels South are exactly why we're doing it, and the lack of Solar up North and powering us during the long dark winters. Haven't talked much about our adventures down to South America because that's still a "Someday", when Jim is done playing around.....hahaha.. Thanks for being here with us Brian. We hope your week is going well. xoxo

Holy shit guys you can now say, without a doubt that your rig is a beast. That is a ton of power and man have these guys done an incredible job designing, building and installing this amazing system. I just love it. You will have no power worries from now on and that is how Van life and RV life should be. I have said it on numerous videos and channels that I am shocked and upset that the RV manufactures haven’t done more work as far as designing systems that should be built in without an option and cash upgrade needed. Well done guys. Worth every penny but should have been right from the start. ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!
@WingsandWheelsAlaska3 жыл бұрын
Hey guys, Right? I think the only thing left that's Winnebago is the cabinets and I know Jim has been eyeballing those to come out as well, but if it's not broke......😁. Our AGM's were toast. Agree on the RV industry, but it's not going to change so we will make the changes ourselves. Life was too short to sit around and wait for delivery or one to be built only. At least this way, we get to personally work with these companies. Winnebago knows what they're doing because people still keep buying it. Have a great week you two. Stay out of trouble mmm k ? 😁

That's a massive amount of power! What brand of lithium batteries are those six? Guy I used to know was a battery tester at 3M (which stands for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing) and I have a simple solar set up, just for fun. I've looked into a Prius, because the AC can be left on all the time for the dog, or to sleep in. But I also have a Ford pickup truck, and the benefits of 4 wheel drive are important in the snow, here. It really looks like you two have found the ultimate solution for everything! I like the van because you don't have to go outside in order to access the kitchen, bed, bathroom. Right now I have a travel trailer, which is only good for the summer months. I guess, personally, I'm gonna stick with my separate vehicles for different activities/utilities. But it's so awesome to know that Winnebago Revel is an option! I'm too tall for a Prius.... Lol.... I wish there was an affordable electric van with 4 wheel drive. Well, some day maybe.
@WingsandWheelsAlaska3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brenda. The batteries are from Lion power. We definitely love having the van for the very reasons you specified. We looked at many travel trailers and different sizes of RVs before we made a decision on what would work best for us. That is the key thing though. Find what works for you and your travel style and the space you need. There are so many options out there for everyones needs. Electric vans would be sweet! Have a wonderful week!

I specified 600amps of lithium When I had my van built. All I can add to your build is that you can ignore the battery monitor pretty much. We run whatever we want when we want. As you point out the a/c is the killer. We have slept overnight with ours in the Everglades in summer but it doesn’t leave much left over. Time to drive the second alternator! This is as you said the best upgrade. The only bad thing about lithium is the cost, so much so you delicately failed to mention it!

Thank you for the reassurance on your experience with lithium. We are very very happy so far but always like seeing how others like it. Much much better than the AGMs we had. The lithium install definitely was not cheap but is worth it. We hope you are having a great week!

It could be distressing to look under you van and see its entrails hanging out were it not for Aaron. 🤔 OTOH it’s like watching a heart transplant done really well! It almost makes me think a 2019 might be a better choice, because it would have more space in the rear for storage and I could have a bed for my friend.
@WingsandWheelsAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill. yes the 2019 has a lot more space in the rear and if you do it right the price is cheaper and can do the upgrades like roamrig lithium with the extra money you save. just our thoughts....

That was quite the tear out and new install. Lots of soil etc. filtering down from above when they were doing the removal which is to be expected. I was surprised to not see them wearing goggles or at least safety glasses for protection from the falling debris. They certainly acted like they knew what they were doing. Had a dog party/greeting going on at about 14:35 (I presume Ember was at the hotel). Looks good and have safe travels. Do you think you will make it to the North East? (There is so much to see in the US).
@WingsandWheelsAlaska3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael. Yes we had Ember in a hotel room while we were doing the install. We are not sure if we are going to make the northeast on this trip or not yet. We may save it for a future adventure when we can do our west to east trip across canada. Plans always change with us so you never know lol.

how does that upgrade compare to the 2021 and newer models that now come with lithium?
@WingsandWheelsAlaska3 жыл бұрын
The new models come with 250ah of lithium and a 2000 watt inverter. We have 630ah of lithium and 3000 watt inverter. Hope that helps.

@@WingsandWheelsAlaska thanks! That's a nice upgrade. Wish Revel's came with the Storyteller Volta systems.
@higherho15403 жыл бұрын
Yea I don’t understand why they did not put the Volta system in the Revel like they did with the Travato and BoldT. It’s their best Lithium power system available (thing get’s over 12,800 Usable Watt hours) and a 3600 Watt inverter. Maybe the Revel is too small?

I noticed you had the passengers headlight out when they were driving it out of the service area? Great info for other Revel owners if they are considering upgrading... Drive safe and look after each other on your adventures... Cheers!! James

Hey! The traveling is going well. Ember isn't a fan of the heat but she is adjusting to it by sleeping through it. Not much upgrading left. If and when things break we will replace them.
