Yeah! Looks great 👍. Maybe that water base paint would strip without damaging the styrene by using a different stripper like the orange stuff. Paint some scrap parts that have bonded pcs to test.

File a V notch with a triangular jewellers file in the back of whatever you want to flex. Then when you bend it it doesn't crack like a score mark might. After mounting putty will fill the gap left if there's one. To join rod or tube together a rat tail jewellers file lets you fish mouth the ends for a finished fit.

Most folks struggle with pre-formed styrene kits and you're a little tough on yourself building two worthy first time scratch builds, with no real custom extrusions or pre-forms? Top efforts on both projects! Yes! Sure as Hell we wanna see more!

The craftsmanship on this is insane. It turned out killer.

My hat is off to you brother ! You went all in with the styrene. I used it in the past with 25th scale models (a lot ) and brought it back when I started the 64th scale cars...only I was using it for details (truck beds, spare tire covers etc.) You jumped in head first. Mucho respect ! 🍻💖🍻
@billbrowning30215 жыл бұрын
That's damn impressive for a first time scratchbuild. Sweet. Another tip: You can use the cement to smooth areas that you have Dremeled out or sanded. Sometimes the little fuzzies are easier to get rid of by melting them away with the cement - just brush on and let it dry.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned yet, but make a Styrene filler. Add in all the Styrene scraps to a bottle and top off with the solvent. It will make a paste which can be used for filler.

I've used Green Stuff a few times. But you have to be very careful not to leave it soaking for too long, or weird stuff will happen.
LA Awesome Cleaner from the dollar store, doodle have the same chance for nastiness that simple green does.
@73dodgedart735 жыл бұрын
helpful advice: I am a builder of scale plastic model cars. you can soak painted styrene in purple power or something similar to remove paint/chrome so if you ever paint styrene and it doesnt turn out the project isnt scrap.

Really impressive man! Serious skills to make that from scratch. I was a kid in the 70's and I've always had a thing for the Winnebagos from that era. I think it's because Tonka (or a company like them) made one then that just about the right size for the MEGO superheroes.
@dashrendar995 жыл бұрын
That paint really makes the hauler look awesome. I was sort of on the fence when it was white as you were building it up. I can see where the stress comes from, dicking around with little parts that like to go missing. Cool job, man.

you can use Wesley's White wall cleaner, Purple Power, Easy-off oven Cleaner, and brake fluid to strip the paint off of Styrene. I use the Purple Power to strip paint from Model cars I restore, or goof up.

Nice work. Maybe much better with polysteyrine interior. And if making Original will require some lines on the side like the Jimmy's trailer does. And it seems that it's a little tilted.

Entirely from scratch... In any build that is taking a pretty big bite. Most of my work is with N, HO and O scale locomotives. You did a great job, especially on 1:64th scale. If you ever get an interest in building model trains, you'll find making rivots on the boiler to be sooo much fun, LOL! Fun build to watch, and it turned out slick.

Just get a square piece of dense foam and cut out a circle the size of the cement bottle and stick the bottle in it.. so even if you hit it with your hand, it won't tip over... I do the same thing with Tamiya's liquid cement bottles.. Great work, by the way. :)
