This is great info. I want to get better at recognizing the fast heel drop into plantar flexion since that is seen in some fast track sprinters

My athletes are always surprised that I change my sneakers after warming up when it comes to sprinting or plyos. They only know how to switch to the spikes. But GTX shoes hardly give any feedback and my Asics Theteredge give this feedback particularly well, have excellent grip and also short ground contact times and better MSF. At the German Masters Championships I could only shake my head as athletes of M65 and older talked about having bought carbon spikes to be "faster". You could have seen that at the World Championships.... However, you should have thought about all the injuries in advance and that it's not just the spikes.... We don't need to talk about sense or nonsense at that age to entertain...

What are the practical take aways from this? Wear old style running shoes and do that exercise for the ball of your foot?

I'm really sad that there is no source. Could you add them in the description please?

Any ideas on how to measure velocity at block clearance and at t=1s? I'm scratching my head at that one but it seems like such an awesome metric!

How would this differ from sports or athletes requiring four planes of motion? Like what separates some athletes like Novak Djokovic, MJ, Kyrie Irving versus an athlete who are fast downline?

Anticipation and reflexes win a lot of times in sports
@philipmartin390210 ай бұрын
Definitely. Someone like John Stockton comes to mind regarding how much anticipation can make up for a lack of explosiveness. At same time, I won't be surprised if prime a Deion, Champ Bailey, or Tyreek Hill would beat olympic sprinters laterally@@jfitness432

My 15 year old brother hit 16.8 MPH in 10 yards on turf.. You said one of your elite sprinters shown did 17.5 and he ran 10.6 could my brother run near 11s?
@Messup765410 ай бұрын
Yes he could run in the 10s or 11s the top speed of 10 meters isn’t a good measure tho
@26Bibles10 ай бұрын
@@Messup7654 Yeah I realized that maybe his start could be close to world class his 10m fly top speed definitely isn’t, so his time would be bad towards the end of the race. I’ll do a time trial with him probably in January and we’ll see if he can crack 11.7 or around there
@gmaxsfoodfitness303510 ай бұрын
@@26Bibles Why not also have him do some speed training? Short max velocity sprints with plenty of rest in between sets aka Feed The Cats stuff. That should help increase his top speed and make him a more balanced sprinter.
@26Bibles10 ай бұрын
Yeah we work on both thats just what he's better at. Max V is consistently increasing slowly @@gmaxsfoodfitness3035
