Andy, great demo of plumbing up - a tip I got many years ago was once plumbed up, hold hook at top of cork handle and observe which rod ring was nearest bottom of float - then if you had to set up again, you could get correct depth once more using rod rings as guidance! Cheers

struggling a bit to put so many small shot on line, bearing in mind its a loaded float why not just use a bigger shot either side or better still a couple of rubber float stops either side slid on the line and no locking shot at all. Adjusts easier and quicker and no chance of coming off and then having to put another shot on. Great vids to watch on a cold winters night..

I’m just starting out with coarse fishing from fly fishing. Brilliant video learned so much from your videos. If fishing at 1.5 foot would you still use 3 dropper stotz? When moving to 4 dropper stotz at 6 foot+ is that the max you would use at any depth or if fishing say 13-18 foot would you go to 5? Thanks!

Another great informative video Andy, thank you. Can i ask a question of you, or anyone could answer really. What is the reason for referring to fishing line as how thick it is, rather than the breaking strain?
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 4 жыл бұрын
Generally it is a lot more consistent, breaking strains are often well under rated depending on manufacturers.
@andrewpartington8642
@andrewpartington8642 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, but that doesn't answer my question at all. A Drennan 0.16 line might well be better than a Maxima 0.16 line. I just want to know when i ask the question "What breaking strain you got on?" Why would anyone say "0.16"?
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 4 жыл бұрын
Because breaking strains are all over the place, some companies will well under rate the breaking strain so you think, oh this is strong. Others might over rate it so you think, oh that’s fine for 6lb line. Diameters are a measurable thing, so most match anglers tend to use it, especially when referring to pole line and hooklengths. Just one of those things, same as you refer to poles in meters and depth in feet and inches. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve watched your more recent video of bomb vs waggled and you don’t plumb the depth when on the float method, when doing this how do you ensure you aren’t missing the bites? I’ve always been taught to use a flat the way you do in this video rather than the way you do in the video I mentioned. Hope that makes sense
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 4 жыл бұрын
Generally you will always plumb up if fishing on the deck, if you are fishing a pellet waggler, so fishing shallow, then you won’t need to plumb up, but it’s always good to have a rough idea of the depth you are fishing over.

Winning Ways Thanks for replying :) Makes sense, I usually fish from the bottom but I get so worked up finding the truth depth at longer ranges so maybe I can try fishing more shallower and seeing how I get on. Thanks again :)

Hi guys, great video. When targeting silvers on the waggler would you recommend balling in ground bait?
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 4 жыл бұрын
There are times when groundbait can play a part on the waggler, but generally maggots and caster are the best option, especially if you don't know the venue too well as you can catch anything that swims.

How often and how much do you feed when priming the other lines? Thanks
@WinningWays
@WinningWays 4 жыл бұрын
Totally dependent on venue, stock and time of year. It can be as little as 20 maggots every half hour, but other venues in the warmer months will need a lot more!
