No one dump the relationship, they plan to get married as they got engaged for 3 or 4 year , but winona is too young (20 or 21) and growing to the top of her career on that time, so do Johnny,..its a complicated relationship for them back then, media, press, age, parents, career, job commitment maybe...but i believe there's still love between them till now, it take years for both of them to heal...since they break up, Winona career grow rapidly, she been a girl icon but deep down she depressed a lot since her break up with Johnny, you may see her footage after her break up, its heart broken, to the point she has to checked into a Psychiatric Ward, ..i guess everyone in 90s know about that...and Johnny also change a lot since the break up, he never the same as Winona's Jhonny, he start to became alcoholic and taking drugs after that..its hard to see his smile and look at his latest partner as he look at winona....i hope they will together soon....i don't think anyone can replace winona in Jhonny's heart...so do Winona...
