So I'm originally from Manchester England and now living in the USA as a proud United States Citizen.! I love this song so much and being a truck driver i finally crossed that Wyoming line and and saw the sign for Cheyenne . I was screaming at the top of my voice it's Cheyenne..! I made it to Cheyenne.. People celebrate going to Paris France NYNY or seeing the Great Pyramids of Egypt.. I felt so blessed that i saw Cheyenne..

I remember driving my dads truck after he passed and he had this in his cassette player (this was in 2009.....he had a 91 Ford F-150 Lariat, in IMMACULATE condition). I remember turning the truck on, and this song starting, and I just sat there crying. Every time I hear this song, it makes me tear up. I remember going to rodeos with my dad when I was 5-6.....he rode the bulls and I rode calves....my sister did barrel racing......Oh what I would give to have it to do all over again.

@George Strait I grew up in a pretty rural part of Idaho. It was very hard to get away for concerts. I have been to a few concerts in my mature adulthood, but it was always a wish to be able to attend a George event. The locations and timing just never worked out. Thats ok; I have most of his albums, several of his songs on my phone playlists, and have my pandora set to his channel. I have a lot of favorite country artists, but George is usually my go to when i just want to reflect and have pure heartfelt feel good music.

And Gene Elders on the fiddle at the end. He brings real soul to the lyrics.

You are the the greatest country singer and you are the king of country when I’m down and out and I feel bad. I listen to your songs and you pick me right back up again. I love you and all your music and songs. God bless you and your family.

Went through all the replies, and no one mentioned that Cheyenne is the National Finals Rodeo. It is what the song is all about. LISTEN! to the lyrics. It is a great song.

NFR is in Vegas. Cheyenne is Frontier Days.
@christellewis30303 ай бұрын
@@ashleymeggan you are probably correct today . But back in the 80's NFR was Cheyenne
@christellewis30303 ай бұрын
sorry. you are correct, my best friend and his brother always said NFR for Cheyenne. sadly they never went to either one. Lack of talent or money likely

Not only a masterful vocalist that's certainly one of the best but the man on the fiddle knows how to tie it all together that speaks to your heart. I so very much agree to the other recent comment that Nashville really needs to pay close attention to what Country Music is supposed to sound like.

Every man should remember the words to this great song and reflect upon if they will be able to detach from a relationship, after she has changed her mind - and she will.
