Join me for this one! It is a bit of a long hike into each cabin. Winter deep in these mountain woods can make a lovely wood burning fire all that much more enjoyable.
For this video, you'll want to kick your feet up and enjoy a hot drink. I don't know what it is about these little remote winter adventures, but they sure have a way of waking us up to our senses and seeing the bigger picture in life. Of course, it may also help that there is no connection to the outside world. A cell phone is of no use out here.
Shawn

Shawn I enjoy your videos. I can find no-fault with your camera work. Be proud of what you’re doing. Most of us won’t take the chance or like me are past the point , age wise, where I can put myself out there like you do. I wish I had taken that chance 30 years ago, but then we didn’t have KZbin, to let us know what was going on in the world that you’re experiencing.

Another great video. The new camera is great. I was shocked that the tarp covered shed off the cabin held up. You definitely have a great place to stay and build your cabin. Wish I could do something like that. As much as I want peace and quite especially when the kids are driving me crazy I think it would be the isolation that would stop me from being out there long term. Follow your path and do what feels right for you.

I have spent a lot of time ice fishing. Some required long walks where i had to cross some partially open sloughs. Even though you know theres not much water under the ice there is always a high pucker factor when making such crossings. I always carry a ice chisel to check ice thickness and water dept. Also it is great for stability when you break through the ice. It can keep you from falling and getting a wet ass. In your case you could leave it at your crossing spot and that way it would always be there for winter crossings. Would suggest you paint it red so you can easily locate it. I really enjoy you content. I agree with the first poster that your channel is the best on KZbin! I so look forward to you videos! Keep up the great work!!!

Nice video. Glad you made it to the cabin. I am hoping that you knocked off the snow from the top of the tarp shelter before you left. Just thinking that it made it most of the winter and you just would not want it to collapse with the last heavy snowfalls of the season. If not, so be it. Hopefully it will continue to hold.

Shawn, I personally haven’t noticed any shaking with your camera work. It could be that I’m very invested in your activities & your progress so much that I didn’t notice. I’m sure others will think the same. With this crazy so-called “winter”, so many areas are lacking significant snowpack this year. It definitely worries me. I walk daily at a local conservation area right by my place and it’s amazing the difference in water levels this year, versus last year. I’m worried about forest fires in 2024 as a result. Have you thought about a plan if a forest fire threatens you or your beautiful land? I just hope you could get to safety quickly 😢

Pro and Con CON: Only one and it's more of a worry wort concern. The plastic behind the indoor woodstove maybe put some sort of heat shield temporarily behind the stove. I lived through a house fire and I mean it literally, I was on actual fire so my worry could just be me being overly concerned. PRO: I loved the video quality enough before because the content was so good, now the actual video quality really steps it up. I love you can take this bed ridden hospice outdoorsman back into the outdoors again instead of my 4 wall prison. You had me waiting for that ice to fail you but it held. The solar lights are a good idea, great way to find your landing off the water. They make solar street lighting. We have one at the gate to our farm and it works great. It is at 30% power when it gets dark and automatically kicks fo 100% when it detects motion. The "Jungle" site has them for under $100 and ours is on year 3 and still going. Unsure though how it would function in your tropical temperatures 😂
