It’s a real beauty! We’ve had some really bad flooding this year, although thankfully not too bad where we live 🤞more so in Worcestershire, Shropshire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire which are all a little further south. Oh yes, the window was lovely 😍 I enjoy stained glass windows. Hope you have a great week ahead!

Beautiful Italy! I love the country so much 🥰 Hope to visit again this year.. We’ve visited Rome lots of times but last time we were there we stayed two weeks in Puglia, drove across to Matera and then a week on the Amalfi coast. It was a wonderful trip. It really is a beauty! The Well dressings are such a unique event in the calendar. From what I know they began as a pagan ritual where they would leave little gifts as a way of thanks to the gods for clean, fresh water. This progressed into ornate floral displays and the custom was continued into Christianity here in Derbyshire. I’ll do thorough historical research before I film that episode to provide as much information as possible ❤️

@@theslowtravelsfamily Amazing! I am reading Ronald Hutton's The Stations of the Sun at the moment where he refutes claims that certain rituals that are performed here in the UK have proven pagan origins so I would be really interested if there is the proof of it continuing for such a long time.

Even here in Southern California we have heard about the flooding along the Severn River. So sorry for the people who have had their historic cottages flooded repeatedly. As always your video is charming! Look forward to the snow drops. The "Well Dressing" sounds like a lovely tradition. Stay warm...it is even cold and rainy here today.

Oh yes, the Severn has had it bad this year with flooding. It’s the longest river here in England and even reaches Derbyshire where I live and it burst its banks twice around here which left terrible flooding on the surrounding fields. Thankfully no house damage to my knowledge around here though but there was widespread damage further south. Such a shame 😭 Oh yes, I’m looking forward to the snowdrops all being out too! I’m on the hunt every couple of days to see what’s bloomed. The Well Dressings are amazing to see, I’m looking forward to filming that episode. I hope you have a lovely week ahead! ❤️🙏

Happy New Year Brenda! It’s lovely isn’t it?! Nearly all the churches here are open to wander in as you please which is nice 🥰 very peaceful and quiet. Goodness, it sure was cold!! Looking forward to your coverage of the wells dressings although you will certainly have your work and travels cut out for you as they start in May and go through the summer until September, more than just a few, most villages and towns seem to participate . I lived in the Derbyshire peak district for 20 years (I am moving back as missing it) and did not manage to visit them all as only had the weekends to roam. Happy to have found your channel and wish you every success with it :-)
