As I’m taking a big sip of coffee readying myself for the wisest of wise, some tutelage of the ages to inspire me to start my day, seeing a beautiful eagle then a handsome buck and you say you’re looking for a boulder! Astonishing how you can pick up and master a large log as you do by yourself. Your endeavors will have that cabin ready for the snow. You will receive as much satisfaction as the first night that you spent in the cabin. Thanks for taking the time out to share your labors and knowledge.

just a thought it might benefit you to dig a trench to empty the roads of water then in the summer add dirt or gravel to fill in the ditches to keep water from eroding the path or roads
@senioroutsider29754 жыл бұрын
Hi Harold good comment, We have had a lot of rain over several weeks, and all the low spots are full. I do dig trenches were the terrain can allow it to drain away . other spots just don;t lend themselves to it. And yes dirt and gravel (my choice is gravel) would help but that would present logistical and financial considerations not easily overcome. For now as long as the tractor will go through, the priority is getting the cabin dried in! THKS again for the comment.Cheers

I am very sorry about your Mom. It seems as if your family must be believers in Heaven. That sure helped me when I lost my son in 2016 and my wife in late 2017. Keep up your faith. I am very much interested in the log cabin roofing project and the finishing it out for a weatherproof abode. I had a Ferguson tractor as a child to help my dad with our farm work and planting and harvesting. It was before Massey bought out Ferguson. I think my Dad's was a '51 model and the one he got me at about 7 years old, when I could reach the pedals from the seat was a '50 model he found second hand. The horsepower on my dad's was 45 HP. It was an amazingly useful tool. Once you learn what the hydraulics and wheel ballasting could do, it could do amazing things. My dad was a journyman carpenter and a farmer before that, and after he left his dad's farm. he was into farming our 6th generation farm of an uncle on his mothers side of our family. I became his full time helper as soon as I could get on the tractor safely. After my schooling, I went into the Navy and became a SeaBee. After my completion of service, I became an open pit miner, spending much time on all kinds of equipment. I certainly am interested in how you do the log cabin roof.

As always, awesome vid. As I'm watching this, I got thinking about the small cabin I plan on putting up. The foundation has me scared as I can't dig for proper footings. My idea of putting the cabin down on large concrete blocks sitting above the surface had some people scared as it's not to "code". The frost may heave the block and twist the building. Then I watch your videos and plenty of others that have their buildings on similar footings. Makes me feel better about my decision.
