Winter Landsape Photography in the Scottish Highlands - Thick snow transformed our little corner of Scotland just before Christmas, so we decided to take a break from the DIY and head up our local glen. The landscape had been transformed into a fantasy wonderland, so it was a great opportunity for some winter landscape photography.

Well that beats tiling the bathroom. A well deserved break for both of you I assume. Thank you for sharing your world. Both video and photography are too drawer. Tell Hannah to hurry up with hers 👍🏻😁

What a wonderful day you two had! I liked your choice of including the large boulder in that early shot, to simplify the busy field of stones in the river. Great image! The panos and long lens shots at the end were gorgeous too. What a great hike!

Hi Sam. I know that the word stunning is often overused in photography, but in this case you were spot on; absolutely stunning and your images did justice to the scenery. I particularly liked the pano and the square crop B&W. Thanks to you both. I also wanted to thank you for your contribution and commitment to the pubcast. Kind regards - Robin

Hi Angie, so sorry for the late reply, I've not been checking the channel for months and I'm afraid I only just saw this! We're fine, loving living up here in the highlands! I've not been making videos for a long while, but starting to get back into it again and will be posting a new one with updates shortly! S

Thanks Ellis! I still need to watch your latest video by the way, it's on my watchlist, sorry! These conditions were stunning. Unfortunately I'm back to full time work now so didn't make it out in the latest snowfall, but I did get an ice axe for Christmas so hopefully I'll have a chance to explore a bit higher at some point this winter! So lovely to see your local playground Sam, it looks beautiful especially in the snow. Who needs a decent nearby Waitrose when you've got that on your doorstep! Think my favourite was that last square mono but all lovely mate

It was good to see Hannah again, even if she didn't say much. I have been wondering about your aperture. When I bought my 5Ds, I checked some reviews and found Sen Abbott's. He's a very technical bod, and looks at all sorts of stuff. He opines that on the 5Ds, diffraction becomes evident at F5.6, and that it's a consequence of the high resolving power of the 50 megapixels sensor. I opine that if I shoot at around F5.6, and if I focus where I want you to look, that focus isn't all that important. Hannah with her long lens photographing distant objects should be able to shoot all day at F2.8, the difference between 1,000 metres and 1,100 isn't significant. I often use stuff close to me to frame the shot, it doesn't bother me if it's blurred, it is not the subject Those trees didn't seem to me to be particularly close, but if you want them sharp you can, and according to Christian Fletcher, should bracket focus. I recommend following Christian Fletcher on KZbin, Ken Duncan on Facebook..
