Winter Off Roading in a Stock Subaru Forester!

Today we take the stock-ish Forester down into the TransAlta riverbed during the winter accompanied by an XT Forester, a Crosstrek and a 4 Runner. Surrounded by the snow-covered mountains we navigate through the ice and across my first river crossing before deciding to turn around and explore the trees on the side. We were all surprised at how well the Forester refused to get stuck considering the stock suspension and ice tires from the STi.
The Forester: Built over a few years the 2004 Subaru Forester XS was built to test the limits of what is capable in an early 2000's Subaru with bolt-ons. Created for overlanding adventures it takes on the hardest offroad trails while having everything for camping. The Forester features: custom interior, rooftop tent, ARB rack with custom mounts, high clearance bumper, winch, Hella lights, transmission cooler, sway bar delete, offroad coilovers, AT tires, Beadlock wheels, overland kitchen and engine and trans skid plates. And to many people's surprise often keeping up with full-size 4x4s.

Thanks Chase - you took me back to my solo 1988 backpacking trip in your Autumn through beautiful BC and Alberta so it’s giving my age away - I’ve owned 10 Subarus mainly Foresters here in South Australia but now own a Hilux for those offroad/touring trips - my stock Foresters have been very reliable and very capable in our Victorian/NSW Alpine country and remote outback - I may still get another Forester for a project weekender - John in SA

I just bought a 2005 Forester today, as my first car. In a couple days, im going to go and pick it up. 190 miles one way, in snowy conditions. I'm really exited to get it! Been waiting many years now :)

I know exactly where that is ! It’s so weird seeing it on video I took my mitsu RVR there, such great views! I spent the night there and looked at the stars in bed through my pano roof 😉 also great video wow good editing and lots of different angles and footage! Very well captured !

Nice av got an xt in Red and manual Rare after here in Scotland most are non turbo and auto love it just snowed so ill be taking it out today

@@Chase_Schrader they are im assuming putting wrx suspension will make it handle way better xt handles good stock but i snow i did notice back end went out a little i do know if its lowered it will handle like an Impreza, very rare in Scotland xts i bought mine from England there that rare haha , my first forester was a SF5 S turbo that handled slightly better both stock but it does say online the S turbo SF5 has better handling was scored 80 and xt was 50 haha, but yeah lost my s turbo too rust and my xt will be needing welded by august when its mot yearly test is up
