Yes! Love the bees! 🐝 We are down to two hives (one didn’t make it into winter). It’s been pretty dang cold so we are not sure if the other two will make it through! We had REALLY dark honey last year! If you research it, they do say that the darker it is, the healthier it is! 🤷🏽‍♂️ This years lighter stuff is definitely sweeter! 🍯

Hi Ted and Jenna 🌲 I thought I'd drop in and see what you were doing today. The stone floor protection is perfect and the stove looks great in place in the wall tent. Squatters Heights is such a special place! It was good seeing Finley and CJ in the vid, I really liked CJ out like a light in the chair 😉 I really liked the night scenes added after the part with the wood stove fire. They even captured slight glimpses of the aurora borealis which is very special. It reminded me just how beautiful your property and life on it is and how God has richly blessed your family. You all sure split a lot of wood, looked to be a couple of chords. You were very fortunate to be able to use the neighbors splitter and knock out that large pile of cut logs. I laughed about the dogs and your reaction to their filthy state. I also noticed the spot on their tongue that you had previously told me they all had that marking. It was so good to see my favorite Minnesotans🌲again. I always enjoy seeing you guys do your final cold plung and remembering when I was younger and enjoying that also 😉 I love your documented moments on the timeline in the sauna, that is very special. First thing to save on alot of heat and wood you need a Damper, makes a huge difference. Your letting most of your heat go right up the stove pipe plus a Damper makes your fire burn alot longer.. Just a thought.

Yes, this is a great idea. Luckily the market place stove we got is pretty fancy. It has a built in damper and automatic temperature regulator. New subscriber here. We heat with a wood stove. My husband welded on a shelf to catch the wood as it’s split onto the splitter. It works so well. It’s a lot less grabbing pieces as it’s split. We look for anything to make our work more efficient. Happy Fall from the mountains of Virginia, USA. ❤

Great video guys, now it’s time to enjoy the stove. I wish mine had turned out as nice as yours did. I laid brick in a crisscross fashion the hardest part was leveling the concrete floor which took forever with self leveling concrete. I flew back last week to Michigan and the pole barn is completely done and will work on the electric next spring but all the wood from the oak tree had split thanks to my neighbor and ended up with 12 cords of wood gave 2 to my neighbor for doing all the work. I am glad you liked the pictures l sent from my deck being up high we have beautiful sunsets to look overlooking the West side of the lake. Unfortunately I will not be making it out to do any work this year due to a medical condition that showed up in an MRI so things on hold until a biopsy is done in December.As always have an awesome week and looking forward to the next project up in the pines.

We were not used to a fancy stove with bells and whistles 😆 close the damper, open the damper, adjust the temperature vent, open this port…. 😂 But… it has become one of our favorite places to be!! No Joy. But I did see the Arthur M Anderson talking on Tacinite in the harbor. Your videos are a total inspiration of what Life in a Northern Town is supposed to be like. Just a suggestion for winter time, you might want to connect a wire from the bottom of your exhaust flew to the nearby tree. The weight of the snow might bring that down just a suggestion. Always love your content Looking forward to the next one.

I have a stove like that. It's so close to the floor it makes it to hot to walk bare foot by the stove. So I sat some fire brick against each outher under the stove. They absorbed a lot of the heat so the floor dosent get so hot.

We definitely threw around the idea of getting one of those…. (Still might) We have been pretty diligent about keeping an eye/feel on the surrounding surfaces during our fires. It has been surprisingly cool….(we were mostly worried about the window) The fabric that we cut a hole in is actually rated for a single wall, stove pipe surprisingly! I guess it would depend on how long you would be without electricity. ⚡️ The bigger the unit…the longer your power needs would be met. A freezer and refrigerator really doesn’t use a lot of power once it is at its desired temp (doesn’t take much power to maintain the cold). We would be confident in our Jackery 2000 plus or the Jackery V2 to give us power through our outages. Hope this helps! 😊❤️🌲

Well, we thought we were probably going to need something there…. But, so far it’s not needed. I think the tent is so thin that it never gets the opportunity to hold heat like a traditional wall would. We have been diligent on “feel testing” all around the stove and it never even gets hot. We were actually pretty surprised!

The vent to set the temperature is on the back side of the stove. It took us a while to figure all the bells and whistles out! 😆 We are currently in the tent, 12°F (feels like -13°F) and it’s a balmy 46° in the tent! 😆 Slowly warming up! 🔥

You forgot to put a damper in the stovepipe just above your stove it's controls the amount of heat loss and your fire willing burn much longer and less heat loss out of your stovepipe

Good question. It is very common for people to have wood burning stoves in large wall tents like this. The stove jack is meant to withstand hot single wall stove pipes and all of our tent fabric is coated in a fire repellant spray. (Code requirement for MN) 🇺🇸

We have been diligent about keeping an eye on the temperature of the surrounding surfaces and so far so good. We have thought about putting a small half wall behind the stove if needed.
