When I was a kid and growing up on our farm, I witnessed something unusual and kind of funny... In addition to our own horses, we boarded a couple of large draft horses. On one particular evening when I went into the barn to do the chores, one of the draft horses had a goat sitting on its back and that goat had a chicken sitting on its back. Everyone seemed satisfied with the arrangement. Back in the mid-70s cameras were not something we carried in our pocket so unfortunately I didn't get a picture. But the memory is strong and that will have to do.

There is a German fairy tale called "Town Musicians of Bremen" - it is pretty much what you describe. Google it, you'll find it even has a statue dedictated in Bremen.

I had a wonderful St. Bernard mix dog for many years, who would NOT come in the house at night, no matter what the weather. Pogo, my doggie, would make a big nest in a snow bank, and despite my urging, would happily park herself there all night. My friends thought I was abusing her, and I tried to explain that she preferred the snowy cold. On windy nights, she consented to sleep in a comfortable chair on the covered porch. I miss her mellow presence whenever I glance out at the deep snow drifts.

Oooh that's a lot of snow and it always amazes me how well all the animals handle it. New cattle seems to be adjusting quite nicely, and Baby B. does seem a bit more friendly. Our Winter in Western Canada has been low precipitation but also temps down to -41C, which is about the same in Degrees F. This time of the year I watch our dog closely. He can almost pee at a dead run!

The only concern I have is mixing horned cattle with polled cattle doesn't always work out. The horned ones know how to use their horns to bulky and injure other cattle especially the polled cattle. So keep an eye out for that.

Just a suggestion, Morgan, strain the bone broth through a fine strainer. Ginny Barn Cat knows how to keep her paws dry and warm by hitching a ride on your shoulder. She let's you do the walking for the both of you.

I'm glad we didn't get the wet part of the storm. Falling snow down the roof means good roof! For some reason it always makes me laugh when I see snow fall down like that. For the cow names. There are songs like Amanda, Angie, Alice.

I'm from Eastern Canada so I know all about snow and cold weather but I'm currently in The Philippines where it is +30C or +86 Fahrenheit. I never thought I would actually miss the cold hard winters. Once when I was watching one of the Scottish farm series, the farmer was bringing in the cows (coos) along the drive that they were quite used to following. They would walk up to the gate that lead to their pasture and into the pasture. Along the drive was a stone wall about six feet tall. And sitting on the wall was a black cat. The cows walked along their familiar route until the lead cow saw the cat and stopped suddenly, staring at the cat. The farmer was surprised since she'd never seen them do that before. The cat seemed to be oblivious to the cows watching her as she sat with her back to the cows. Then she stood, stretched and took a step ... cows took a step, eyes still on the cat. By now the farmer is laughing. Cat took a couple more steps ... so did the cows. Now the farmer is laughing so hard, she's holding onto her stomach. Cat walks a couple more steps ... cows follow ... then cat stops. Cows stop. Farmer tells cat to let the cows get to pasture. Cat ignores farmer for a couple of minutes then jumps off the wall. Cows walk along and turn into their pasture. Took awhile before the farmer stopped laughing ... me, too.

Regarding the issue on the windy side of the chicken tunnel, would it be possible to move the big rolls of hay to that end and create a Windbreak so you don't have as much force on the tunnel? Maybe some kind of triangular shape just to deflect? You might also want to look up "Greenhouse in the Snow" it's located in Alliance, Nebraska and is 100% geothermal, might make a good present for a gardener in Vermont, but I bet if you talk to Alfred there might be a way do you use it for the Birds. Oh and I'm in total agreement that the new cow should all have French a names and Andrea the giant is perfect!!!

When that storm came through New Hampshire we got a good amount of heavy snow and I lost my hoop house. Thank goodness it was empty. Tuesday flooding that followed was insane. We live on a ridge so the only flooding we had was at the bottom of the driveway by the road but now we have to fix the driveway this spring. I love your channel to learn from someone in my climate! We had snow today!! Half an hour or so, barely enough to make a snwoball, but the ground and everything else was totally white for a while! Uk weather excitement!! Lol. Glad storm wasnt too bad for you and only a small casualty. Large whtie farm cows seem to be settling in, hope it still going smoothly for the moo crew!

For the back of the hoop coop, maybe an easy solution would be to put up a couple of 'walls' outside in a V formation to have the wind separate on the sides, they has to be a cheap material and a pole that can be setup for that task

So fun watching the new cattle get to mingle with the established herd, and to see Baby Bee run right up to them. She's so shy with the dogs and you, but not around the strange white cows. Ready to investigate! On Monday we had a *high* of -10F here in Colorado, so I had some concern about your weird chickens and the white cows when it reached the East, but it sounds like you got the milder wetter version of it.

I'm so glad that you weren't affected by the high winds down there. Here in Newport we didn't get much either. The worst part was the roof glaciers scaring the dogs. I was so scared and brought in way too much firewood! Also, I like the name Arabella. I used to ride a white Arabian horse with that name.
