Oh my gosh! I prayed for a Tassie garden guide today! Sure, short winter but gee I hanker for a tropical growing season 😂. Snow on Mt. Wellington Christmas morning 2000.

Great fertile garden.

My Tasmanian winter lasts a lot longer than yours John! I'm not faar from the coast, but the Great Western Tiers cancel out any beneficial effect of Bass Strait. That Antarctic icy air pours over the mountains and all rolls onto my place!

Yes, not all Tasmanian winters are equal!

It's so depressing! Mum's garden in DEvonport in July last year was like the subtropics. By that time, just a few kms to the east but inland, I had already been suffering through scores of hard frosts. The last frost of the eyar is almost invariably in late December, and the first one in mid March ... unless it happens to come in February or January! Good thing I love broccoli, brussels sprouts, leeks & broad beans.

Do you have a poly-tunnel or glass house? That can extend the season.

OK...there are so many lettuce varieties and each one seems to have it's local names! Glad you enjoyed it.

Do you happen to have a link for all the fruits and veggies that grow and are harvestable in late fall/winter? This has been a real drag for me to figure out.... I JUST LOVE GROWING WHAT WE WAT AND SHARING WAT WE GRIW. This would help so much. Or even a link or name if a book? I’m extremely passionate about this

It really depends on your local climate...nothing beats first hand local advice from the "oldtimers " ;-). But without that, www.gardenate.com/ would be a starting point.
