I am back on the road! This is just a quick one. I will be heading out on a backpacking trip this week and have more adventure planned next month. I used music in this video because there was a lot of wind noise the mic picked up. Also...it’s tough shooting in the snow! Everything takes longer. lol Most of the trail can be done without snowshoes, however there were pockets of deep snow where they were useful. It was easier just to leave them on. The higher we got, the deeper the snow was. Anyways, it was an awesome day in a winter wonderland! Happy New Year Everyone!!! ❤️

My wife and I took that tram up there a few years ago for my birthday. The tram operates a restaurant up at the top where I had a really good hamburger/fries meal. While you were up there, I was on the other western side at home in Idyllwild shoveling two feet of snow off our driveway, so I know what you were tromping around in up there with much deeper snow. Stay healthy and safe.

How nice. I'm an avid snowshoer and I'd recommend some ski poles, for better stability and balance. One of my favorite spots, here in Oregon, for snowshoeing, is the rim of Crater Lake. Check temps before going as it can get really cold up there. Yosemite, in winter is pretty cool too, (and less crowded) for snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or ice skating. Lake Tahoe's desolation wilderness is another fine spot, for snowshoeing, or the tram up to the Tahoe Rim Trail Enjoy whatever winter wonderland you're in! Happy New Year!

@@CatherineGregoryAdventures If you head that way also consider a stop at Guadalupe National Park. Almost no one goes there, especially off season. There are some great day hikes and one nighter options. McKittrick Canyon is a day use only area and magnificent. As for Big Bend the NPS closes part of the South Rim of the Chisos beginning Feb 1 for falcon nesting. You can still do a great rim hike, after the closure, but you'll miss about half of it. The down side is you have to haul all your water. I like the three day two night option with a side trip up Emory Peak, but if you go you have to spend a night on the rim itself. I've done this hike four times in the winter and only seen snow once and it was just a dusting.

Never heard of an aerial tramway before. Here in the UK we call them cable cars. Now if someone asks for directions to the aerial tramway I will be able to direct them to the cable car! It can be strange when different words are used to describe the same thing. We know that when someone from the US asks "do you like my new pants" that they are referring to their trousers rather than underwear because of TV. There was a funny story on the radio about a person who had a US guest who asked to use the bathroom. They were directed to a room with a bath and hand basin in. Being too embarrassed to go back and ask for the toilet they attempted to use the basin. Unfortunately they were not tall enough, put too much weight on the basin, ripped it off the wall and knocked themselves out. Hope you had a good Christmas with your family and have a merry new year.
