Nice job and very helpful! One question. The last thing I did after pulling antifreeze through to all of the faucets, etc, was to open the low-end points drain valves. You didn't mention those in your list. Was that the correct thing to do? Seemed necessary to me.
@ateamrventures10 ай бұрын
Thanks! I could see your point, but I have not needed to do this (as a last step), since air pushed out water earlier. It's up to you, if you want. There would not be any harm in doing this for peace of mind.

And now my Wolf Pup is winterized. A very good video, clear and stepwise. It does take more antifreeze than you show, but that is the only problem I had.

Cool, glad it helped. For antifreeze amount, it depends on how much you run through your faucets, (etc.) for a solid stream of a/v. I don't run a whole lot, since the air did most of the clearing of the lines.

So I just went through all the steps, but when I got to the antifreeze step, I was only able to pull antifreeze through the shower and the water heater outlet. No antifreeze came out of the sink faucet and none in the toilet. Water pump was on and running. I used 2, 1-gal jugs of RV marine antifreeze. Any suggestions?

RV anti-freeze is non-toxic for this reason, just rinse the system with fresh water thoroughly in the spring.

Nice video! We just bought a 2022 Wolf Pup 14CC, and this one has a Furrion tankless water heater instead. Unfortunately, Forest River's manuals didn't catch up, so ours doesn't have the bypass valves for the water heater and they don't have a procedure. The Furrion manual says blowing it out or running antifreeze through it are OK. Forest River's support is clueless on what to do. I'm assuming it would be a similar procedure, except for running the antifreeze through it. I gather some folks have tried blowing them out, but parts of the tankless water heaters still hold water and they can be damaged.

Nice why can't the lines be left empty. You would think antifreeze would be a bad thing for cooking and drinking. No way it just 100% rinses out of the lines after sitting for a few months
@ateamrventures2 жыл бұрын
You can leave the lines empty (if you want), but any water residue in the lines runs the risk of freezing (and if enough water, can expand your water supply lines). RV/Marine antifreeze IS NOT the same as antifreeze for your vehicle -- not even close. It's a common misconception. It's non-toxic; however, still clear the antifreeze out of your lines when de-winterizing, as much as possible.
@michaelwert4682 жыл бұрын
Did NOT KNOW about the 1 way valve at the city waterline inlet. (about 8:53 into talk) Guess it is blown out with the air, but good idea to get some antifreeze in there also. If air is not used to blow out the lines, this small portion of the hose would still have water in it wouldn't it.
@ateamrventures2 жыл бұрын
Possibly, but as long as you pull antifreeze into the water lines, then you could go outside to this valve and release it a couple of times to get antifreeze in there (pink comes out). It should be fine.

Why the antifreeze? If you blow out all the water it's not needed. I use that hose for an extra 15 gallon water tank under the bed.
@ateamrventures3 жыл бұрын
I just want to ensure (like others) that there is zero water in the lines. I've experienced damaged water lines previously with trace amounts of water and would like to avoid that situation again. Hence, blow air through and replace with A/V. :)

Question for you... The plug you have linked and the plug you use seem to be two different flow rates... Larger hole (used in video) vs small hole (one in the link). I've use the High flow for my sprinkler system. Do you recommend the High Flow for this task, because I can't seem to find a Camco Brass blow out plug that matches the one that you use.
@ateamrventures2 жыл бұрын
I follow. The plug I linked is the exact link I used to buy this plug. It does look like the link plug has a smaller hole, than what I show in the video. Since I used the larger hole plug in the video (high flow), then yes I recommend it.

@ateamrventures2 жыл бұрын
Make sure anything you drained previously is closed (water heater, black/gray tanks, etc.) and ensure the water heater is bypassed. Ensure all faucets are off. Also, ensure the t-connector is turned towards the anti-freeze line (that you place in the jug). This should give a good seal so that pressure is there for water pump to draw from jug.

Also I’m sure you need sufficient battery power to run the pump.

Can a 12v car tire compressor be used to blow out the lines??
@ateamrventures3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I don't own one to comment on it. Let us all know if you go down that path and the result.
@michaelwert4682 жыл бұрын
I am going to try with the car compressor. Using antifreeze anyway. Will comment afterward. Problem will be keeping the pressure below 30 I think. Will start with a waterline open and bounce from one faucet to another.
@michaelwert4682 жыл бұрын
Actually it did a good job. Again, I kept 1 faucet open all the time to keep the pressure going sky high. Good enough that I do not think I need a compressor for the job before using antifreeze anyway. Don't get distracted and close all the water lines. I played around with the pressure a little. With all the faucets closed hit 40 pounds in 10 seconds with my tire pump.
