It's like how Byun sometimes just wakes up and decides he's not going to build a ghost today no matter how many games it costs him. These players are way better than I'll ever be. But it's sometimes frustrating to watch them so stubbornly refuse to make the clear tech to win the game. Against a lategame bio-Terran that's gotten to double digit liberator count you must directly answer the liberators directly or your ground army won't be able to fight. The best answer is the tempests. Showtime knows more about Protoss than I ever will, but sometimes he just doesn't build the units that are obviously right.

@@hamsterfromabove8905 I mean with the zealot surge in the main game 7 you could see his plan - trash gumiho's back with mass zealots, keep whittling away at the army with disruptors, avoid investing the time & money in a tempest fleet... it was possible with a bit more micro or a bit more money Yeah I love Byun he has the best ghost micro of any player but he clearly doesn't enjoy using them and will avoid it at any costs hahahaha

Game5 is so painful to watch if you're rooting for ShowTime. Possibly the biggest throw I've seen in a final in years. Game5: if he built a void ray at 1:09:40 when liberators started to siege his expansions, would have had 10 more minutes of 2 base full saturation, but instead when he finally plans on it, he spends the money on 3 zealots (1:14:33). A void ray and a shield battery is enough to shoo away all those liberators. 10 seconds of 2 base mining is enough to buy 3 zealots.

Marauders are great agains armored units as stalkers and have higher health points than marines, but they can't shoot air. Showtime got stuck into ground army only, so he could only rely on stalkers to try to take down medivacs and liberators and was hopping for good oportunities with the disruptor shots. If Gumiho's micro attention is somewhere else then two disruptors shots could take away most of his army and then it would be the protoss who could fight and wings agains an army twice as big.

To be a strong protoss it's simple early game aggression. Make them turtle then get four base as fast as you can then max out and just keep throwing your units into battle till the enemy brakes. Keep four bases full of probes at all time and make it to where they can't mineral harassment you. Keep them in a fight lowering there unit numbers while keeping your as high as possible. Or you will be the one getting overwhelmed all the time. Don't do skytoss that's loss toss. And void rays are good for hit squads.
@asdfasdf-mn8iu6 ай бұрын
And then the terran flies in a double drop and clears one mineral line or a mine drop and clears a mineral line and after doing that twice you're now on the backfoot with T having ghosts and libs and you lose the game. The void rays sound like plat advice as well.
@remeokits6 ай бұрын
@@asdfasdf-mn8iu thats funny my man but I don't play I just watch hours of people playing every day and see what works and does not work. You think I could be that high in the rankings thank you. 32 by the way I took old to play but old enough to still see weakness and strengths.
@asdfasdf-mn8iu6 ай бұрын
@@remeokits Where exactly do you see void ray hit squads in pro games? What protoss just masses units and throws them against terran defenses zerg-style except for rare games that has played e.g.? Anyone can reach plat, also at 32, no problems my dude. You just need to play.
@remeokits6 ай бұрын
@@asdfasdf-mn8iu uthermal did a special build and was losing using mostly void rays then changed up his play but the remaining rays was used to snipe building. It was beautiful and actually was the reason he won. So in five group they can snipe building quick while you fight with your main army. They die quick but that's why it's high risk high reward. He was in the grand masters.
@asdfasdf-mn8iu5 ай бұрын
@@remeokits Yeah, uthermal constantly plays much weaker players than him so that his funky strats work. None of that would consistently work on pro level, not even close. So just because uthermal beats a few grandmasters that are much worse than him with raven mine does not mean it's a viable strategy, just that SC 2 is a game in which you can make almost everything work with superior micro and macro. Harstem did this "beating GMs with stupid stuff" long before thermy and that also doesn't mean anything for the builds themselves.

Feels like ranged libs are way too oppressive against toss, there's really nothing good the toss can do vs. them. If they build tempests, those need constant babysitting because otherwise a swarm of vikings will easily take them out with EMP on top. They also need oracle revelation to properly shoot libs. I mean, it is the same vs. lategame zerg armies, but in a straight up fight, the zerg just loses and thus the protoss has much more room to maneuvre. Vs. Terran in a straight up fight, it is not remotely close, the T rolls over toss, so protecting your tempests with your ground army actually becomes a liability.
