LITERALLY PICK ANYTHING. There isn't a big discography but every single song is a masterpiece. I'm not joking. Wintersun is the best band i've ever heard. And vocals are always hit or miss. Personally i think his vocals fit the songs.
@marcolina74416 жыл бұрын
I can't agree more. They put so much love and effort in their songs. It's not possible to beat Wintersun in terms of quality.

The association with Nightwish is the drummer, Kai Hahto. The drummer of Nightwish, Jukka has had problems with insomnia while touring so he stepped back in 2014 and asked his friend Kai to step in for him. So since 2014 Kai drums for both bands. The singer (Jari) is also the mastermind behind the songs. He writes and composes all the songs and does a lot of it playing himself and using sampling on his laptop to layer everything in the final result. He uses the band for live performances mostly.
@Invisigoth056 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Jari does do it mostly by himself, but also takes opinions from the other bandmates into consideration. Most influential obviously being Kai for the drumming parts. Also for the recommendations, Loneliness does have a good show of Jari's range of vocals, where as something like Land of Snow and Sorrow (Live rehersal from Sonic Pump Studios as well) is in my mind a pretty damn nice example of a metal ballad where the vocals are all done clean (pls correct me if I remember that part wrong, but am quite certain about that) PS: Also a funny note about Kai in Nightwish, he does seem a little bit bored at times :)

Forgot to mention, on KZbin video the intro (Darkness and Frost) is "muted". From 2:28 forward it sounds like it should. On Vimeo the intro sounds better, not sure if it is edited afterwards or is it the actual footage.

Love these headphones - use them a lot for mixing and tracking when I record music. They are very flat - ie they don't colour the music at all so what you hear is what was recorded.

Yeah those are pretty fantastic. I ended up with DT880's which are similar in flatness. I colour them slightly for listening (vs. mixing) and they sound fantastic.

i found out about them couple of years back,and im glad i did later on rather than at the begining of my metal journey,went trough in flames,as i lay dying,opeth,soilwork,dark tranquillity,the thing im trying to say is that the harsh vocals grew on me over the years,and what i like about him is that in my opinion his style and vocals fit their stuff,not as polished as other lead vocsls but i got hooked on them and the love for them never ends.

Great reaction. Nice that you liked it, but a shame you don't like Jari's voice. Personally, I think he is one of the best singers in metal history. Each to his own I guess. When you're done with Loneliness that everyone always suggests (although I don't) I would recommend the first album. All of it. There are no bad songs. Cheers.
@darkki876 жыл бұрын
jari's voice takes "time" (eh?) to get used to (for some ppl at least). but he does it so well, you can really understand the words he sings even when using scream/growl, not just random sounding "rrrrraaaghhh" what you need to listen with lyrics open to understand what they are trying to say lol. and the song compositions overall, absolutely amazing stuff. 10/10 for me, can't wait for new album release, hopefully does not take years this time \../

@Patralgan6 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for this honest reaction! My request for next song for this band would be Loneliness (Winter). Whereas Sons of Winter and Stars is more like a rollercoaster and fireworks of epic metal that is great for opening live shows and a great opening song for the album, most of the other songs are more structured with far fewer motifs, and of course "Loneliness (Winter)" is like that, far simpler and organic but an absolute masterpiece.
@joshi41416 жыл бұрын
Wow this was unexpected:) Thank you, I really enjoyed it. I am glad that you appreciated that. To really see what Wintersun is all about I suggest you to watch "Loneliness" from the new album. This would be the total opposite to what you have just heard. It's more like a ballad, very easy composed (litterally like 3 to 4 chords!) but so effective and beautiful. And I also think that you can really hear the evolution of jaris voice. And yes, luckily (for you), there are only 3 albums.("Wintersun", "Time I" and "The Forest Seasons") Not like Devin Townsend who has like dozens.^^ Well, thanks again, I wish you a good evening

You should check out Time and Land Of Snow And Sorrow from the same live rehearsals, two of my favorite songs from these guys. And also there is Loneliness, a beautiful metal ballad. You should definitely check at least these songs out, and maybe then react to the rest of their amazing discography if you grow in on these guys! :D Their music is amazing, and the skill level of everyone in this band is astonishing.

Wintersun songs are not always easy at first. There is so much going on. The more you hear them, the more you start to pick out great combinations and detail etc. Might be a good idea to have the lyrics handy. And watching the band perform is always a double edged sword. It's cool to see the skill but it takes some of the focus from the music it's harder to follow the arc of the song/story. Try listening it again with just headphones and eyes closed ;) I understand the scream/growl is not everyones cup of tea. I like his style, and his clean vocals are really nice. Maybe there could be more clean parts to balance the harsh sound. Try "Time" or "Loneliness" next
@kanervatie5 жыл бұрын
I've heard this track for about 25 times in the last month or so. It needs time and repeat to get it completely. Defenetly not a song for beginners, and it opens new layers when you listen to it more than once.
