It's too bad that some people have this idea of what a good snare and what's a bad snare sound and I do not blame them, they are correct in that frame of musical expertise, but I wish it wouldn't be that strict that "unless it's exactly like this, it's bad". I don't believe Jari spent 18 years making this album unless he thought everything sounds like they should be and for this album, including the drums. It's not your usual metal album so perhaps this drum sound was the right choice. But of course with such complex album it's impossible to 100% satisfy everyone, me included (but not because of the drums). In any case, great reaction!

It's just we never heard a snare sounding like this. People are already doing remix of the album and it's already better so I don't think it was the right chose but maybe only what jari likes.

Jari released dynamic versions of both time albums in the Time package. It’s a damn shame those did not become the default mastering of the album since they sound noticeably better imho. The main “loud and modern” mix of time 2 should have been offered as the bonus version instead of the other way around.

The videos on Jari's channel are automatically uploaded by youtube if I'm correct. Possibly the quality there is bad in that process, and once Jari uploads the lyric videos, it's possible that the quality is better on those.

Like many layers on Time II there were a lot of layers with the reaction video, the background including animated snow and three times rendering the footage to maintain the exact audio quality from the album. I’m gonna have a beer now

I mean, Jari took like 7 years to mix this album, and the biggest issue people have is the mix. I really, really hate the drum sound - snare most of all. Other than that, the album is quite amazing. If anything, it's a statement of just how good guitar player Jari is.

I just subscribed because someone finally agreed with me that the snare sounds were different between songs 1 and 2! I did a deep dive, and basically, Kai recorded all the drum tracks in 2006. They kept all the performances, but jari edited the crap out of the sounds.

Any big Wintersun fan that claims they are "blown away" by this release or that it is a "masterpiece", really has their expectations bar set really low. I am a big Wintersun fan. And after hearing this album 3 full times, it is obvious to me that they just put out a safe release that sounds like more basic versions of their earlier material. Sure, they are amazing musicians. And they play their instruments at a high level here. I am not disputing that. I am saying that their/Jari's song arrangements are super basic here and we have ALL heard the same style and melodic choruses before. One With the Shadows has the same slow emotional clean vocals like Jari has done many times before. It's basically a recycled EP that Jari stretches out the same riff and tempo the entire song. Very few tempo changes here. And super long Intros and outtros to help this EP become an LP..... Nice album, but easily their weakest of the 4 releases. My expectations bar is not set so low - 7/10 rating!

Give us the advanced version. Also, there's more Silver Leaves? Give me some! Loneliness was my previous favorite but Silver Leaves massively overcomes it - an instant classic.

no offence guys, but to me every song on this album sounds like chat gpt was trying to make songs in style of wintersun. insanely boring😢 really loved time one , but this was huge disappointment
