I am GUTTED that this is happening. I LOVE Pixelborn so much. It was one of the only ways I could test out decks and see what worked, and what didn't. I can't help but have some anger towards the Disney company for this.

Disney knows what they are doing. They let pixelborn be used for 4 sets and right after two challenge event, they pull the plug. This just means they abused pavel to help the game grow and get feedback on the game without spending the initial resources in building a system.

Actually, I disagree. I don't think Disney is in touch with Lorcana at all, aside from selling product in the parks. I think Ravensburger knew that PB was a net positive in the community and had a gentleman's agreement with Pavel that they wouldn't make him take it down until they had no choice and Disney eventually forced them to. However, Disney as a company doesn't design the cards, produce the cards, host the tournaments, etc. Ravensburger are the ones doing all the work to make the game a success and build a community. Disney is merely the IP holder, so they see this as a black and white legal issue. Does the existence of PB infringe on our IP? Yes? Let's issue a cease and desist. RB can't fight for Pavel on this issue because they also don't own the IP. Only posting this so everyone understands the role that each carries and how and why the decision was likely made. But don't hold your breath for an online client. It took them years to design and launch MTG Arena and WoTC has a lot more money and resources than Ravensburger, unless they push Disney to help fund the project, which I'm not convinced would happen.

In my situation, i'm not a content creator but i stand before tripple surgery. I will not be able to attend my local shop. So i upgraded my computer to play pixelborn so i keep touch with the competitive play. Now yesterday this news struck, the computer is on its way.. And now they shut it down, I feel.. i don't have words for it man. And this is only me, but for content creators man.. i will look forward to your future content and good luck my dude!

Secondly, if there's no community in your area, but their are players, you might consider trying to be the facilitator. See if you can put stuff out and find those players?

You could do live games over a webcam with your patreons. Could be fun there. I'm guessing you're going to be doing a lot of pixelborn to try and build up a backlog. One last point. Its still not that easy to put a paper deck together. Im lucky in the way that i have 5 game stores with in a 20 square mile of my house. Ive been tryimg to build a new deck for 2 weeks. And to get 4 of those legendary super rares and those staple rares isn't easy. Yeah i could get them on line but most of the time it takes weeks to show up.

You can play Lorcana in tabletop simulator, but that will be harder to setup for sure. They are plugins that do exist for Lorcana drafts already.

What state do you live in ? There should be a sign up at the LGS to see how many people are actually interested. You might be surprized, there could be 20 other people looking to play. Qucik story:Myself and a buddy came back from Disney FL last August and managed to get some product when it first released. When we returned to New York, we convinced the owner at our local game store where we play MTG to start carrying LORCANA because this is going to be the next big thing. Fast forward to today, we roughly average about 12-15 players and had 30 at the stitch rockstar promo.

I can feel your pain i’m in same situation. wife doesn’t play anymore. I work a lot so card shops I can barely make it. I did spend 2k in cards cause of pixelborn. trying to find good card game online.

That job listing wasn't even affiliated with RB I'm pretty sure. And the job posting for the company that did the post was very vague and people are just jumping to conclusions because the job listing went up around the same time as the PB closure announcement. It could absolutely be nothing more than a coincidence. I personally think people are giving RB too much credit assuming that they have their own client around the corner. I think it's more likely that they have barely started on an online client and if they have, I suspect it's less then half way through development. We've seen how bad RB can be at just rolling out tournaments and sets, so I think it's very unlikely that we see an online client for at minimal 6 months to a year. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that I'm not.

In your list. The MTGO system in the past was awarded a player with a set of cards for a particular block or set that came out. Reward the player with the set of cards. By turning in your digital set to them. But that mtgo set up. I miss that.

There’s no way Disney/RB was going to wait around to shut it down once $10k sized tournaments started. That’s too big to ignore. Not to mention a lot of content creators never even purchasing Lorcana product because they were just using pixelborn. Heck a lot of content creators playing in ATL had to borrow cards to play.

Some KZbinrs have the biggest excuses. Get involved. I did. Speak with your LGS owner. I did. Create social media like a FB page, a discord page. Many creators got off easy without even investing like other people have. I'm amazed at how many people had money to go to Atlanta but can't buy cards. Nice equipment to make KZbin videos. A nice background, but no money for cards. Pixelborn was Pixelborn, not supporting Lorcana. It was supporting content .

Oh I have 4 copies of every card, but not yet with set 4. I definitely spend a ton on cards, well over $2500 at this point. I'm actively talking to shop owners and trying to find my people. Don't confuse excuses with hurdles, these are my hurdles and I'm tackling them. I'm not going anywhere

There's a giant part of the community that only play pixelborn that will be shut out from the game, there's people that only buy cards after testing that won't be able to do that anymore, there's people that don't have anywhere to go to play and pixelborn gave all of us the opportunity to enjoy this game even if it was unaccessible in other avenues, so sad to see it go.

There are other ways to playtest, proxies etc. But this is tcg, so it should require some investment instead of just getting everything for free and poaching players from locals.

I'm one of those people who would have never bought any Lorcana product if I hadn't discovered the game through Pixelborn, and my LGS is too far away to regularly play there... Pixelborn gave me hope and faith during the product shortage, and I've never spent so much on a hobby before. All I ask for now that Disney made their move, is hope again. Not demanding much, just hope that they are working on event a distant client project...

Just throwin it out there, maybe record 2 pixelborn sessions a day until the end but only release like 3 per week max. I know the daily is a core identity of the channel but stretch the recorded content as long as possible until you come up with a new format or RB announces a client. Fill the gaps with deck discussion or commentary on Challenge matches maybe. Best of luck tho, I enjoyed seeing the variety of decks, both good and bad, that you were able to play and share

It does suck. I travel over an hour one way for leagues on Saturday at a shop. That is the closest store to me that sells product and has official league play. The one local store I have here refuses to host any type of lorcana league. Official or not. I never used PB too much for testing. I use inktable but I figure it wont be around much longer either. Im sure they have a plan. They already have a Marvel card game from Second Dinner. I wouldnt be surprised if they are doing it.

You don’t have to upload everyday. x2 a week with consistency is all you need. You have a babe coming soon and your time will be very limited but this might allow u to clear your mind and think about things for awhile. You’ll come up with something. We will still be here. I think Disney's just like any other mega corporation and I feel like buying pixelborn would give them what every company wants which is maximum profit for least amount of effort and yes sadly this for sure would come with micro transactions being added but its better then alienating a good amount of player base. I feel like you're definitely right when you say lorcana would have struggled without this online client in the beginning. I mean it taught me how to play and since we have had it now for so long it feels like a normal part of the game and community and them getting rid of it can only hurts the game when they could just build on it.

I feel the same way. Pixelborn was the only way i could play. I have cards and also have a couple of decks built. The problem is i would have to drive over an hour to get to a shop to possibly play bit its hard cause i have a family plus a job where i work 50 hours a week. I have no one local to play, and most of my friends that would play live another state

Duh. Everyone knew it was going to happen. It's how it happened. No plan to replace it. No alternative. Europe and North America.. those are the places you can get physical cards. Everywhere else in the world requires online purchases and international shipping fees AND other people near you who play and also have cards. Pixelborn let the world play this game, now it's just back to those two continents again. You can't say you're the best in the world if most of the world can't play the game.

Then how do you have those boxes in the background of this video? How do you have this little, most people have enough. So the kingdom of kindness did one of the most evil things.
