I really would appreciate it if you’d turn the wind down a bit here in Tasmania. I want to go fishing!
@kiwitrainguyАй бұрын
Well, you need to have something to run your wind turbines with.

Hi Phil do you think LA Nina will develop eventually to give the far south some calmer weather?
@WeatherWatchTVАй бұрын
Not sure yet, but it's possible if we can get some highs further south, or that nor'east flow. But La Nina is only looking marginal so far so wouldn't rely on that being the saviour.

Heating of the Antartic region leads to an unstable polar vortex, leading to random licks of freezing. Global warming (man made or not) results in these occuring more often.

There was far more rain than your app said would fall in thames tonight. The rainfall amounts in mm are way off.
@WeatherWatchTVАй бұрын
Sadly that's what happens with showers/downpours - and our app says that in the FAQ. This is due to no open data in NZ and this 'dumbs down' rainfall accuracy across all forecast providers in the country - and is designed this way to help keep NIWA & MetService commercially profitable rather than helping the public or improving national accuracy. We've been talking about this for over 15 years being a major problem in NZ.

Is this what was meant by the ‘snow in Auckland’ comment the other day? Winter weather in What is meant to be Spring. Very concerning, the long term effects of this seemingly chaotic weather especially on food production for orchards.
@WeatherWatchTVАй бұрын
Never agreed with that news headline the other day - it was classic clickbait headline. Hopefully some milder, better, weather coming up - but not ideal for orchards with frost risks tonight

it unbelievable how much Snow the Alps are getting since I was in Queenstown a few weeks ago. I am almost tempted to jump on a plane from Sydney again to come over!!!

4:33 - instead of showing how much above or below "average" the temperatures are expected to be, how about just showing what the actual temperatures are expected to be. Looking at that map I thought the whole country was going to be at below-zero temperatures!

Because they are in your local forecast already - hourly for 10 days out. This is additional Big Picture info - and now that you understand Departure from Normal you won't make that same mistake again! :)
