It's a beautiful piece of kit, I had just bought my Warthog setup and then I saw these things. Buyers remorse? Lots!
@Honosuseri11 ай бұрын
Yes I do love it and it's still in use. The warthog throttle is pretty good. It's the flight stick base that let's the set down. Some people swap the grip onto Virpil's WarBRD base as an upgrade down the road. Enjoy your kit, have fun with it!

You know whats cool is you can see the wear from use and it looks like a real throttle block from an older aircraft

Enjoyed your video quite a bit. Just got the Orion2 with the Viper grip and like it, although had to fix the ANT/ELEV knob. I got it for ED but now tried it in the Viper and what awesome difference it has made to my flying. Thanks for sharing!
@Honosuseri Жыл бұрын
Yeah I was very close to buying the F-16 Orion 2. I do have the Viper in DCS but I mainly fly the Tomcat and other twin engine aircraft so went with the F-18 grips. Glad to hear you're enjoying your throttle as much as I do mine!
@Chloiber8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. I ordered this throttle and the F16EX stick today. Decided against the 15EX because I felt it was a bit too cramped and I currently mostly fly the FA18 anyway. Looking forward to it, coming from an X52 Pro

You're welcome, that's a big upgrade! Enjoy the new kit, please do let me know what you think. I don't use their stick myself I have a VKB Gladiator EVO Premium.
@Chloiber8 ай бұрын
@@Honosuseri I did not think its such a massive difference. The throttle is fantastic, much better control and its great to keep the hands on the throttle without having to use any modifiers. The joystick surprised me the most as its so ergonomic and its incredible how much more control you have with waaaay less effort. Making smooth level turns was much more difficult before and its so simple now.

Thank you for letting me know it helped you. I'm just about to upload another video to focus on the finger lift kit on my Orion 2 throttle.
@MrBooka42 Жыл бұрын
@@Honosuseri That would be great, I was told that they are a weak spot of this throttle. They seem like they are made out of a kinda soft plastic.
@Honosuseri Жыл бұрын
Yes the plate to attach the grips for the F-15 and F-18 is POM (plastic), F-16 it's a metal plate. It's a weak point for sure which is why I use the fingerlifts to go past the detents to remove all resistance and apply as little force as necessary. If you want to push through the detents applying a little silicon grease really helps reduce that friction.

How does this throttle works with Elite Dangerous? I pre orered it but I'm worried how Elite is handling those 3-way switches? I'm also thinking about VKB STEC throttle or Gladiator NXT Evo with Omni throttle and I can't decide.
@Honosuseri2 ай бұрын
I personally found I didn't really need to use the 2 and 3 way switches for Elite Dangerous. The push buttons on the base along with the rotary encoders were enough, combined with the buttons on the throttle grip and those I had on my flight stick.
@mikkelkeller621010 ай бұрын
Useful video. thx. One question though - are you beginning to feel any "stickyness" in the throttle movement?. I heard other people talk about som stickyness ocurring in the Orion 2 much like in the Thustmaster Warthog stick base.
@Honosuseri10 ай бұрын
No there's no "stiction", it's very smooth and I've not regreased it like I did with my Thrustmaster TWCS throttle.

I like this but im holding out for the replacement to the super taurus. Although for Star Citizen those 2 sliders seem almost perfect for laser power and max/min velocity..

Any chance you have a recommendation for a particular powered USB hub that would be good to use with this beauty?

I have been reading that using the 4x32 mode in the Simap Pro App doesn't work. But it sounds like you haven't had any issues?
@Honosuseri4 ай бұрын
No I've not had any issues. In fact some games have had patches since so that mode shouldn't be needed. Perhaps people with the F-15 grips have had issues but I can't comment on that

Hmm, do you know if Il-2 had a patch like you mentioned? Or does that still require the 32 button mode
@Honosuseri5 күн бұрын
No I don't know if it's been patched. I keep the throttle in the 32 button mode to ensure compatibility with games/sims. I disable it only to upgrade the firmware of the throttle, then turn it back on again.
@jaromwilliams6424 күн бұрын
@@nicki9knuckles In August (or around there) it did have a patch where now it supports controllers up to 128 buttons, so I no longer use 4x32 mode

Are you using the finger lifts to get in and out of the afterburner detents??
@Honosuseri Жыл бұрын
To go into Afterburner yes I lift, to come back off into Mil power no I don't lift. From off to idle you don't need to lift but from idle to off you lift, obviously you don't want to accidentally shut the engines down in flight. At Mil power position it's awkward to reach the finger lifts if the throttle is just placed on the desk to the side infront of you. How you mount the throttle really needs to be considered before buying it.
@vincentsantucci2478 Жыл бұрын
@Honosuseri very interesting - why are you lifting to go into afterburner? You don't need to and it's not designed to either. They will lift automatically as you push through. Only lifting necessary is from idle to off for the reason you mentioned.
@Honosuseri Жыл бұрын
That's probably how people have broken their finger lift kits along with over tightening. It's just plastic and the resistance against the Afterburner detent is pretty firm. Although yes the Afterburner detent is shaped differently and would allow you to push through, I'm not comfortable doing that. I've seen Winwing refuse to replace the part so I'm leaning on being gentle with the finger lifts.
@vincentsantucci2478 Жыл бұрын
@Honosuseri fair enough, to each their own! But for sure the design of the AB detent is to give you a bit of feedback but not requiring a lift. If there is damage caused by doing this then there is some fault or user install error.
@Honosuseri Жыл бұрын
Yes the idle detent has a hook to it, you're not pulling back through that without the lift. I could adjust the afterburner detent further forward which should lower the angle & reduce the resistance. Still I'm pressing down putting pressure on plastic which can go brittle over time. The grips come out of Afterburner with much less resistance, it just slides along the detent. I'm more comfortable using the fingerlift to go into AB, the F16 replica stick is designed to have the grip lifted to go into AB...yes it's a different design but I use them the same. Thanks for watching and commenting. Perhaps I should do another video to focus on the finger lift kit more, show what happens as they're used and why I do it this way.

Hi, Is it possible to use simapppro to play Elite? I use hidhide and joystick gremlin but I don't like the way I have to use the toggle switches. Cheers
@Honosuseri8 ай бұрын
I play Elite with the Orion 2. Set it in the simapp software to the 32 button mode so Elite can use the buttons and switches. I don't really bother binding the toggle switches, with my flight stick and the throttle I have plenty of inputs. The Orion 2 base has the 4 rotary dials that also work as push buttons, e.g I turn one to target sub sytems on enemy vessels. Obviously there's quite a few push buttons on the base too e.g "A/G" I have as landing gear and "A/A" as cargo scoop.
