After flying the T-45 in msfs on a regular basis in vr it has me wanting to switch over to DCS (after I get a new headset so I can see detail at a distance). I've went from dreaming of having the best twin engine GA cockpit to one similar to the one you have. This change is for sure gonna hurt my bank account. Glad you published this today after me finding this hardware last night and falling in love.

Great update..many thanks. Can you share how you've mounted the throttle base? I'm a bit leery of using the floating mounts not that anyone has said its an issue. BTW, nice 3 wire - OK Pass.
@gr-skil3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks. I use a basic mounting box that I made out of MDF many years ago, it has been used for the TM Warthog, Winwing Orion and now the Super Taurus, (after some slight alterations for the difference in height).
@mururoa70243 жыл бұрын
Since you're using VR, did you find yourself flipping the wrong switches by accident, was there a learning curve, or did it all come quickly and naturally?
@gr-skil3 жыл бұрын
That was my concern to start with, but it all becomes muscle memory surprisingly quickly. I use points of reference with all of the controls, such as the gear lever, hook lever and on the MFDs I have little velcro tabs stuck the the centre button in each row. These allow me to orientate my hand position so I can select the correct switch or button.
@jimharrison4053 жыл бұрын
Skil, thanks for the video. A question, did you have Orion Joystick Base orginally? Why did you go to the Super Libra base? I they say that you can't use the joystick extension with the Orion base, but I am going to try it anyway. Did you do that and have it fail, hence you know how the Super Libra?
@gr-skil3 жыл бұрын
Yes I have the Orion base. I was using it with the extension. I know it is not recommended, but didn't have any problems arise during the time I used it with one. I got the Super Libra base as it is designed for use with the extension and has changeable/adjustable cams and spring setups, (I'm hoping for WW to release centreless cams at some point). I still have my Orion bases, hoping to buy the F16 stick and throttle to mount to these, when they are released.
@vf111sundowner3 жыл бұрын
I noticed you use the gear handle on the take off panel and the guarded switch on the Taurus base as points of reference. I am really looking into getting these controls, based on the review of you and your fellow Reapers, Quick question what type of pedals are you using? they are only in the initial set up shot and partially obscured.
@gr-skil3 жыл бұрын
I use MFG Crosswinds. Really good pedals, highly recommend them.

I would be interested in how you manage to see and flip all these physical switches while lookin through VR goggles. You can't have any peripheral vision, so how distracting is that?
@gr-skil3 жыл бұрын
You are correct, I have no view of my controls whatsoever. Using the controls in VR becomes muscle memory surprisingly quickly. I use points of reference with all of the controls, such as the gear lever, hook lever and on the MFDs I have little velcro tabs stuck the the centre button in each row. These allow me to orientate my hand position so I can select the correct switch or button.

@@gr-skil Wow, that sounds like a lot of commitment and practice. Sounds way too hard for me and I don't think I would enjoy it at all. I'm trying to decide between more physical hardware with head tracking versus VR with clickable cockpits, but I can't imagine successfully mixing the two the way you do. Impressive memory skills.

On the take off panel, what are those two silver lever looking things on each side? I've spent a while looking around and can't figure out if they are axis or are just some clamping mechanism to hold it in place or something.

Aye, they are both axis controls.
@FGCH033 жыл бұрын
What was your experience with the feeling of the controls in the carrier landing, I mean compared with other controls.
@gr-skil3 жыл бұрын
I suppose the biggest difference overall, compared to other controls, is longer travel distance in the throttle handles, giving you alot more precision control over your throttle input. Aslo having the friction that can be changed on the fly is great. I use the extension on the flight stick too, so that allows precision with that, without having to use curves in the controls setup.

Hello! I've been buying things from Winwing and Thrustmaster to use on a high end pc that should hopefully be finished any day now. Here is a list and the prices I've spent. Blackshark collective $499.80 Super Libra & F18 stick $530.90 Super Taurus $812.85 Take Off & Combat panel $367.90 Track IR Pro $203.50 Thrustmaster TPR Pedals $663.94 Thrustmaster Warthog $400 Thrustmaster F18 stick $429.95 Thrustmaster MFD 2 sets $193.48 My 1st real gaming pc XIDAX X-10 Motherboard MB/X570/GPROC MSI X570 GAMING PRO CARBON AC NON-SLI (INCLUDES DUAL BAND WIFI) Processor CPU/R9/5950X AMD RYZEN 9 5950X 16C/32T 4.9GHz Memory DDR4/D32G3600RG DDR4 3600MHZ G.SKILL TRIDENT Z NEO- 128GB (4x32GB) (128GB (4x32GB)) 2 Graphic cards GPU/RTX3090WB NVIDIA RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X WATERCOOLED Power Supply 1500W/1600 1500W TITANIUM POWER SUPPLY Capture card PCIE/CAP/4K60P Elgato 4K60 PRO MK2 Sound card SOUND/AE-9 Sound Blaster AE-9 Over $13k and I hope when it gets here it will actually do the job. I've built all my other pc's in the past and I just didn't care this time. I had saved money for years. After my wife became sick, from Kidney Cancer, and passed away last year. I just didn't care about much. I first saw Growling Sidewinder's channel and how explains the do this and don't do that. Then when to and not. So I decided to watch his stuff. I also looked for other videos and found the Grim Reapers stuff to be highly valued too. KZbin was always a place for me to find videos of things I like to play, but now the people I've met here are good people. I'm picky so I don't give out subs much, but these guys here man I gotta say I've a lot of laughs, and I've learned a bunch on a game I have never played....yet lol. I'm having my pc built to run DCS, and ArmA series of games. I've spent years downloading stuff for Operation Flashpoint Resistance....they changed the name (wasn't happy about it lol) I just can't wait to play those old games again, but DCS....I'll probably end up buying everything there is. I'm totally alone in this messed up world, and I'm gonna have just a lil fun before it's my turn to take a dirt nap. Anyhow, I think I've listed everything......I don't know. Almost everything is still packed away. If I missed something I'll post it too. Take care. ✌

I read a comment from a previous video where you said you would upload your control settings for these panels when you got them. Forgive me if I'm just blind and couldn't find such an existing file, but if you haven't made it yet would you consider uploading it? I'd like to use mine for more but the settings can be rather complicated for someone who isn't familiar with them. Thanks for your content!

Still good? I like to see reviews after the warranty is up (i.e. after one year in this case). Ridiculous how low the warranties are for such expensive equipment (I'm looking at you too Virpil and VKB). If they're so great, back it up with a proper warranty.
