Zimbabwe's state-owned National Railways of Zimbabwe, or NRZ, is seeking a major upgrade. Freight volumes have shrunk from a peak of 5 million tons annually to just 3 million tons currently. This decline has left NRZ lagging behind regional competitors like Mozambique and Zambia.
